“Issues the 1st day then good after that.”

Reviewed 22 Feb 2012

We had several issues the first day which I will explain in detail, but after the problems the rest of the stay was nice. The cabin was roomy enough for our group with plenty of beds, and in a perfect location very close to snow summit. Equipt with all necessary kitchen utensils, and etc. I liked that all the bedrooms were upstairs and living area and kitchen were downstairs. The issues were upon arrival we had to spend 2 1/2 hours with 3 people shoveling the parking pads in order to have a place to park, and shoveling the walkway to get to the house because they did not take care of it prior to our arrival. (we borrowed a couple shovels from neighbors so we were able to have 3 people shoveling otherwise is would have taken much longer). The house was 41 degrees inside and it took several hours to warm up that night using the heater and the fireplace, after that we were able to keep the house at a nice temerature the rest of the time. The last complaint is that the water heater was set on low so we took cold showers the first night and luckily the next morning somebody thought to check the water heater temperature and turned it up, so we had warm showers the rest of the stay.

Response from the manager Thank you so much for your feedback on Prime Pines. Unfortunately, it is common during the winter here in the San Bernardino National Forest to experience difficulties with ice and snow since many snow storms can be continual and require continual shoveling to keep drive ways and patios clear. When it is winter time and temperatures are lower, this can man an extended period of time is needed to get a home to a warmer temperature. We do apologize for the inconveniences you experienced and hope to help you with your future vacation plans.

“Nice home, it only...”

1. furniture was not clean, slip covers would be easy a easy fix; 2. area rugs very dirty, throw them away! 3. garage, not heated, too cold to play pool; and 4. driveway and walkway to front and back door total ice, very dangerous. Other than that we had a great time.

Response from the manager Thank you so much for your feedback on Prime Pines. We evaluate each review and do out best to use the information that our guests give us to improve each guest’s personal experience. We look forward to helping you in the future.

“Cabin was comfortable, accessible to slopes w/problem driveway”

Reviewed 16 Dec 2011

Service was friendly. Cabin wasn't ready precisely when we wanted to check in. Sloping driveway was a problem for those of us not used to driving on ice. Cabin was warm, the right size for our family and very comfortable.

Response from the manager Thank you for your constructive criticism. We appreciate all feedback that our guests have to offer and hope to have the opportunity to serve you again.

“Great!”

Reviewed 9 Mar 2011

Location close to office so easy check-in & out. Close to Snow Summit and short drive to Village. House was large & comfortable. Had wood delivered for cozy fires in the evening. *Be sure to ask about parking. Bit of a problem with the driveway but have two convenient pads at top for parking-just weren't told in advance. Would have been nice to know. Will stay here again for sure!

Response from the manager Thank you fro responding to our survey. We will make sure the winter parking pads are part of the description so no further confussion developes. We hope you were able to enjoy yourselves while in Big Bear.

“Mixed”

Thank you for sending a person to shovel out the berm created by the street plow on Sunday morning. I had spent 2 hours on Saturday morning shoveling out. There was an empty bucket for sand on the front porch to spread for reducing slipping on the steep walkway. We requested twice that it be refilled and it never was. Otherwise, we enjoyed the home and the weekend.

Response from the manager Thank you for responding to our survey. Buckets you see at a property are usually for ash disposal. We do not use sand at properties we put out cinders (volcanic pebbles). Anything put out is only good until it melts down into the ice (1day) We are sorry there was a mis-communication between us and you. We could have left a little pile for use during yur stay. Again thank you for replying to our survey and we hope you had a nice time in the snows of Big Bear.

“Excellent!!!”

It is a great cabin to stay, it is near to snow summit mountain. I only need one word to describe this place (prime pine#1209). Great !!!

“Our Family Had a Wonderful Vacation Here!”

Reviewed 27 Jan 2011

Good location. Clean. Good size. Comfy beds. Great price! Not enough toilet paper, paper towels, dish towels or bathroom soaps. Need better pans for cooking. Even though the snow machines were blowing at night we were not bothered by them indoors.

Response from the manager Thank you for your response to our survey. We have an in-house housekeeping department that can provide more toilet paper. We provide enough to get the reservation started. We do not provide paper towels. We try to make that clear in our pre check-in paper work. We hope you come back and see us again.

“Suprisingly pleasant”

Reviewed 5 Jan 2011

This home was very comfortable and conducive for a family and very pet-friendly. Great customer service, even on New Years Eve when the Internet connection went out! Very clean and accessible in the snow. Just be prepared for cold this time of the year, as the heater and fireplace can barely keep up with the single/double pane windows and doors.

“Cozy Cabin and Exceptional Service”

Reviewed 1 Jan 2011

First the positives: The service from Big Bear Vacation was great. When we got in the cabin, it was very cold. We immediately turned on the heater and two other small heaters that we brought along. That caused the circuit breakers to shut down the electricity in the living room. We panic and called for service. Somone one showed up within 10 minutes and turned the electricity back on for us. The gentlemen was very courteous as well. The location is great. It is a couple of blocks away from the check-in office and snow play areas. The amenities were adequate. There's a 32" LCD TV in the living room, a pool table in the play room, and lots of lots of board games. The place is well maintained and clean. It is staged as a old american, hunter-type of a cabin. If you don't like animals heads hanging from the wall, then this place might freighten you. But for me, I barely notice them. Now the negatives: There aren't a lot of negatives. First, there are no bedromm on ground floor. There is no DirecTV, or Dish, or even cable connected to the TV. The pots and pans are very old. The kitchen is small. Overall, yes I would stay here again. The price is adequate. I would recommend this place to a friend.

“Great place to stay and rest”

Reviewed 19 Nov 2010

The Big Bear Vacations personnel were very helpful, courteous, and pleasant when we stopped at the office to pick up the key for the house. We only got to stay for 2 days but i have to say we enjoyed it so much that we are already trying to squeeze some more dates before holidays.Unfortunately it is already booked for Christmas/ New Year .The house itself was a pleasant surprise: it was very clean, comfortable and well stocked with all the necessary utensils and items needed for a longer stay. This place is awesome and definitely a bargain. Immaculately clean and everything worked - the washer/dryer, microwave, coffee pot, bedroom clocks, etc. Very charming home and wonderful, quiet neighborhood with great location. Overall we had nothing but good things to say .

Response from the manager Thank you for your feedback on our lovely Prime Pines #1209!!!! We are very excited to hear about your great stay. We at Big Bear Vacations care not only in the quality of our cabins but also in the genuine experience of our guests vacation as well.
