“Rustic and fun cabin/ Family of 4”

Reviewed 9 Feb 2015

Bruin Haus was a pretty awesome place to stay, yes it's' old, but that's part of the fun of staying in a cabin. It's an actual CABIN. I wouldn't consider it a house like many other "cabins". It is so sweet, rustic and cozy. It is a charming A frame and includes a loft upstairs with a queen sized bed and a bedroom downstairs also with a queen sized bed. There is a 3/4 bath that is pretty roomy (no tub), fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, oven/stove and microwave, along with dishes. There is a foosball table which my 10 year old and 5 year old enjoyed, a jacuzzi on the patio out back looking out towards forest and a grill (that really needs to be updated I think it's older than me and I'm 37). Pros: JACUZZI facing forest and privacy, heating is fine now it seems that they addressed a previous review and added more space heaters, older foosball table, and just.. rustic and fun for our family of 2 adults/2 kids. Cons: Neither TV worked while we were there (we called Big Bear Vacations and they couldn't fix it, I didn't really mind as I didn't really want to watch too much TV with so much other stuff to do, but my husband likes it to fall asleep at night), spotted about 10 termites and even brought one home with us in our suitcase, old dishes, VERY old grill, not enough towels. Despite a few setbacks, the positives far outweighed the not that big of a deal negatives. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

“cozy and rustic”

Reviewed 14 Nov 2013

This was my 8 year old son's first snow trip. The cabin is small, old, and very rustic. But it's clean, comfortable and we had a magical time. The kitchen is well stocked and their are plenty of blankets and lots of snow shovels in the closet. It seemed a little pricey but I guess that's the time of year and I booked last minute. * bring your own towels, as the ones in the bathroom are very small and thin.

Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to leave this helpful review.

“Freezing inside and out”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2013

The cabin looked great, was in an ideal location with a large forest behind, perfect for sledding with two small kids. It had a warm fire but unfortunately the whole time we were there, it only heated the sofa area and the loft bed. The back bedroom and the bathroom and kitchen, were utterly frozen the entire time. The back bedroom's full length window was ill-fitting, with a single pane. Cold drafts flew into the gaps. The thermostat made zero difference, over 3 days. So our kids slept comfortably in the loft and we literally had to sleep on the floor in front of the fire as our bedroom was bitterly cold. Washing in the shower room was painful as it was too cold to undress. We left early having paid for a whole night that we didn't want to stay there. I have been waiting nearly 2 yrs to be able to review this place. You seriously need to fix the heat, dudes. This rental was really expensive and the heating should work.

Response from the manager I am so sorry for the issues you experienced during your stay. The heating issues have been brought to the attention of our Operations Department so we can address the heat in the back rooms. Again we apologize for the inconvenience you experienced.
