“Enjoyed our stay, but the house was disappointing”
We enjoyed our stay in Breckenridge. Vacationed here with three kids and found plenty of fun summer activities in the area. However, the house was a disappointment. Some of the reasons: - General shabbiness and dated condition of much of the house on the inside, especially the bedrooms and bathrooms. This included furniture, décor, and general condition of the interior. - We found several dead bugs laying in plain view in various rooms when we arrived. - Live ants, moths, flies in the house throughout our stay, despite our keeping doors and windows shut. - WiFi went out twice during our 5-day stay. - Reception on living room TV was very static-filled on many channels. - Lots of weekday traffic on road in front of house. Much of this was construction vehicles going to and from nearby properties. Pros: - Rental agency was very prompt and responsive when we called regarding WiFi and regarding a bear break-in on the trash shed. - We enjoyed using front and back outdoor decks and the hot tub. - Large house with four bedrooms, a loft, and two common living areas provides plenty of space. Other: This house is pretty remote from the town of Breckenridge, about 2 miles outside of town, most of this via dirt road. It is in a quiet, wooded residential area with other houses adjacent and nearby. The remoteness can be a pro or con depending upon your preferences.
Response from the manager Thanks for all this feedback! We're so sorry you encountered some issues during your stay. We assure you, the team does a thorough inspection of the home to ensure it's clean - it seems that perhaps some bugs got in through doors or windows left open to cool the house down during the summer. The owner has also improved the wifi and done a bit of work around the home. We value your input and hope you will come back to stay again!
“Glad we loved the skiing”
I have to say that the team at Invited Home was more than helpful when it came to planning our trip and helping us find the best deals for our stay. They answered emails immediately and were very thorough. We have a group of ten and the house fits us well ( the common area is a bit small) but we are comfortable. The one inconvience off the start is that there is no common bathroom so you have to go through someone's bedroom to use the bathroom or shower and with ten people it can be a bit cumbersome. We did not have hot water from the moment we came and although they did send someone twice, when it still wasn't working at 8 pm the second night and none of us could shower, I was promised phone calls back that did not come. This was very upsetting. Ten people not being able to shower is no fun especially when you had a full day of travel and skiing! To top it off, the toaster is broken ( didn't realize that until after we bought groceries) and so we have to use the oven to toast our bagels. It just seems as if details are not tended to. There are beautiful candle holders, but no candles and wax on them from previous candles, the pillows are rock hard and uncomfortable and the couches pretty worn in the main common area. The grill is pretty old and works only on one level. On the positive side, the location is great and the deck and hot tub are wonderful. After being left behind by Plan B transportation company, being swore at and hung up on by them and having to pay for two cabs back to the house (after a 2 1/2 hr wait) Ruth from Invited Homes was very kind and assured us Invited Homes would not contract with them anymore as well as offered to pay for our services. She was very prompt and attentive. Other than those mishaps, Breck is a beautiful mountain with great terrain and staff. We will surely return to Breck... I'm not sure about Barton Creek Lodge seeing that it wasn't that comfortable for ten people...
Response from the manager Thanks for your feedback, and we're glad that Ruth could be of service to you and your guests. We sincerely apologize that you ran into so many issues staying at Barton Creek. We've looked at other transportation services for next winter and have chosen not to continue doing business with Plan B transportation. We're sorry that the hot water wasn't working - showering in the cold is no fun. It seems as though the second boiler tripped twice during your stay, despite sending someone to fix it the first time, so the second time out we had our service man make absolutely sure it wasn't going to trip again. Since your stay we've kept a close eye on this boiler to make sure it doesn't act up again! Upon your checkout we replaced the toaster and the candles. Unfortunately, we can't do much about the bathroom situation or the size of the home and we're sorry for this inconvenience to you and your group. We hope you consider returning to stay at an InvitedHome, even if it doesn't happen to be the cozy Barton Creek Lodge!
“Not what we expected!”
The very first thing to be said, is that the Invited Home Team were great to work with, and addressed any issue we may have had in a kind and timely manner. T hat being said, the home was not what we expected! We loved the location, but it should be pointed out somewhere on the website, that there is no common bathroom. We ended up having to go through someones bedroom to use the bathroom, which was totally inconvenient, especially since we had babies napping. The couples in our group occupied the 4 bedrooms, and so all others were left without a bathroom Very inconvenient to say the least, especially since our stay was 4 weeks long. We found it way more run down than the pictures on the web revealed, and the furniture in the family/dining area is way too big for the space. The deck was beautiful, but only had four plastic chairs for our use. We ended up buying folding tables and chairs, so that we, as a group, could enjoy our morning coffee's and our dinners. Way too crowded in the main living area for a home that says it sleeps 12. The master bedroom's sheets and duvet were torn and falling apart. We actually ended up buying new sheets! I would not necessarily recommend this to a friend, but I would suggest to future renters, that this house should really only accommodate 8 guests, so that the bathrooms are not an issue.
Response from the manager We advertise the correct sq ft of all our homes (2200sq ft in this case) and our aim is not to falsely advertise any of our homes. All the pictures are of the home itself. We apologize for any torn sheets you found and had we known, we would of replace them immediately. During your stay, we suggested moving the picnic table from the downstairs yard to the deck to provide more seating for you, but you declined. You did mention how responsive our team was to address any needs you had, thank you. It is our aim to make this a very memorable vacation for you. We appreciate your feedback and will contact the owners with these recommendations to help enhance the experience of our future guests.
