“Far from our perceived expectations.”
We booked this condo to share the week with family who drove down from Michigan with their one year old daughter. Unfortunately, we left embarrassed that this is the unit that we booked for the week with them. To start: The unit was not easy to find. There were no signs or postings to indicate where to locate the unit or the "last elevator on the left," according to the email. A simple map would have been much appreciated. The parking lot was always full during the prime time (night, lunch) of guests in the shopping center, with no designated parking for the "two guaranteed spots per unit." We were given a map via email, prior to arrival that gave directions to a public beach access close by. However, every gate that we accessed in that direction required a gate code, that we did not have. After day 2, we found out by word of mouth and a posting in the elevator that there was a trolley service that is for use of "The Village" residents. We used the trolley, however, it took us to a private gated community with beach access that we were then limited on the times that we could go in and out from the beach. The mother of the one year old with us, carried the baby up the stairs with all of her belongings after a full, hot day on the beach, only to be told by the "guard" that she had to go back down and around to a different gate, because it was too late to come back through. We were definitely made feel like some sort of second class citizens. The condo: The master bedroom and bathroom were uncomfortable warmer than the rest of the unit throughout the entire stay. By standing in the doorway of the master bedroom, you could feel the temperature difference compared to the living room. The guest bathroom toilet had to be snaked by maintenance early in the stay, and we were told that "this is an ongoing problem." It then became clogged multiple times after that. The shower wall in the master bathroom shower was becoming unattached from the actual wall. The master bedroom bed and pillows were not comfortable to sleep on, as we had to find other pillows from other beds in the unit to replace those. The couch in the living room was uncomfortable to sit on due to the springs coming up through the cushions. The TV only received three channels throughout the entire stay, and the reception on those channels was poor. Finally, checkout was listed for 10 am. As we were getting ready and packing to leave on Sunday morning, we happened to see the front door opening. The housekeeping staff came into the unit, unannounced, at 9 am, surprised we were still in the unit and stated, "Oh, I'll come back at 10." I feel that was poor on their part. Although we did enjoy time with family, nice restaurants, beautiful community and beaches, we expected much more for the price we payed, the area that we booked in and because we have been to and loved this area in Florida before. We've made the instructions in the home and check in email clearer so avoid confusion upon arrival. We've brought in a plumber for the toilet and the shower wall has been fixed. We are also addressing the concerns of early arrival with the housekeeping staff- that is unacceptable and we apologize. We would love to have you back to this home, or to one of our other fabulous properties to show you a better time!
“A nice place to stay”
The condo was clean and had everything we needed for our 4 night stay. It over looked street and shops which was great for people watching. The large pool area is a bit tricky to find but was well worth exploring. A quick walk to the beach. The restaurants in the area were wonderful. We were in the area for a wedding and this place worked out well for us.

“Very Comfortable - Loved the Location”
We enjoyed our stay very much! The beds were great and the flat screen tvs in each room were a treat for our kids! A short walk to restaurants, entertainment, and the beach. We will visit again. Next time I'll bring a hair dryer since there was not one in the condo. :-)
The Newcastle was a gorgeous condo located in The Village. The location is perfect, right above several shops and restaurants. But very close to the elevator which helped since we were on the third floor. We enjoyed listening to the nightly concerts from the balcony in the evenings. The condo looked exactly like the pictures, very nicely furnished. The walk to the beach and the pool wasn't very far at all… we rented bikes so we rode them everywhere we wanted to go. I would suggest adding some extra blankets, we didn't bring any for our trip. We had issues getting into the condo, the key pad didn't seem to work at times. Also the cleaning crew needed to clean off the ceiling fans, they were pretty dirty. Other than these MINOR issues, I would highly recommend renting The Newcastle.
