Lovely house - very spacious! Great location although you’d never find it without sat nav!! Fun being next to river as canoes were simple to use and relaxing. Well done! Thank you

“A lovely relaxing week ‘en famille’”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2022

We spent a very relaxing week here as a family (two retired teachers and three twenty-somethings). The house was full of character and we loved the location of the pool in the ruined building. Our weather was mixed and as the pool is only heated by the sun, the water was rather cold but fine once you got used to it! We enjoyed using the rowing boat and kayaks on the canal and hired two bikes (£25 each). We would recommend the local Crêperie on the canal (less than 5 minutes in the car, about 25 minute walk) - closed Mondays and Tuesdays and you need to book because it is very popular. We went to Josselin a couple of times which is very pretty and also to Vannes which is like Josselin on a much bigger scale. Some of the details on the website need updating - only one twin bedroom, no swing set, no table football and the mini-gym was not really functional. Note that only hand towels are provided.

“Excellent holiday”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2022

A beautiful, peaceful retreat. Owners live next door and were very friendly and helpful. Car necessary. Lovely walks along the canal and free kayaks to use for the more daring. Beautiful garden and pool. Would highly recommend. Linens included but does not include towels! Josselin lovely and nearby a great creperie (walking distance). Further afield, Vannes is beautiful and Nantes was delightful.

“Home away from home”

If you are wanting a picture perfect French holiday then this place is for you. Beautiful cottage in the most perfect location. Lovely and quiet but also perfectly placed if you want to explore the area or head a little further out and towards the coast. Anything you could possibly need is provided, even Children's toys and garden games. Hosts were lovely, live right next door so always on hand but it still feels like you are the only ones there. Beds were comfy however it can get quite hot in the bedrooms on a night. That said, downstairs is lovely and cool even when it was very hot. Garden and pool are just the icing on the cake at this place. We had the best time!!

“comfortable, beautiful location, friendly owners, everything you need”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2020

The house is spacious and comfortable, and the garden is lovely with sun and shade and a pool that, while not huge, is big enough for the children to have fun in all afternoon. We messed around in a dinghy on the canal, swam in it, went cycling (if you want bikes it's a good idea to tell the owners in advance and they may be able to arrange them), ate, and lazed. The surroundings are beautiful, although pretty sleepy, and it's a perfect family retreat. There's also a galette restaurant just down the river that I'd recommend.

“The Perfect Holiday”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2018

If you're looking for a relaxing, peaceful holiday, look no further. We stayed for two weeks as a party of six, ranging from 3 years to 70 years. First of all, the bad. Well, not really bad, just 'less excellent'. The pool was solar heated, so a bit on the cool side when you first get in. Our 3 year old didn't go in much because of this, but the rest of us loved it. The other issue was the lack of WiFi, which was only accessible in certain parts of the house or garden. This turned out to be a blessing though as it stopped people from constantly being on their phones! With the lack of mobile signal in the area too, it really did mean that technology had to take a back seat - perfect! The traditional farmhouse was lovely, plenty of space for the six of us, with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. A good sized kitchen too. We had private use of the pool, a huge garden for the kids to run around in (with swings in), access to a rowing boat and three kayaks. The Nantes-Brest Canal was at the bottom of the garden, although it was gated to keep the children contained. The rest of the house is child friendly too, for example a stair gate on the stairs and a cot in one of the bedrooms. You can rent bikes although we took our own and used them daily for a ride along the towpath or surrounding country lanes. Steve and Sorrel were the perfect hosts, living in the property next door. You wouldn't know they were there though, but they were always available for any little problems, which on the two occasions we experienced, were quickly sorted with no fuss. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, although on reflection, we did very little. We made the one hour drive to the beach on a couple of days. We visited Josselin, which was nice to walk around. The creperie on the canal, just up the road from the farmhouse is worth a visit. We also went for a bike ride around Lac au Duc, which was an interesting 14 km. (Make sure you have a mountain bike as there is quite a large section off-road). Other than that, most of our time was spent relaxing at the farmhouse. My wife and I both commented on our journey home that this was one of the best holidays we had ever had, with lots of quality family time, in a beautiful farmhouse, in peaceful surroundings. We were both genuinely gutted to leave.
