Description

The villa is totally private with no other houses or neighbours within close proximity. The villa is available from 29th May 2021 until 12th Sept 2021. Tel Alan Barton, Stranraer. All utilities and final cleaning, with the exception of electricity is included in the price. The average price is normally 70-100 euros per week. If air-con is used 24/7 this will increase the price of electricity. A meter reading on the day of arrival and departure will be given to the named guest who booked the villa. Basically you pay for what you use.

Smeralda Villa is an easy 20 minute drive from the Costa Smeralda airport and Olbia ferry port. The Villa sits above the treetops and has 360 degree commanding views over mountains, forests, vineyards and rolling pastures. It is situated within its own private grounds with no other properties in view. There is a 10m X 5m X 1.5m private swimming pool. The pool is open from June through to September. On the first floor there is a large open planned area where the lounge, dining room, kitchen, two en-suite bedrooms one double and one twin are situated. The lower level has two en-suite twin bedrooms and one en-suite double bedroom.

Modern conveniences include WiFi, Air-con, Jacuzzi bath, steam room, hydro massage, foot massage, linen, towels, fully fitted integrated kitchen, utility room, washing machine, fans in all rooms, TV, music CD'S and DVD films, books and guides, even a play station for the kids big or small. There is a stair gate, high chair, and travel cot available for young children. Safety features include Alarm system, hard wired smoke and carbon monoxide monitors and First Aid kit.

For Al-fresco dining there is a veranda with seating and patio area where the barbecue is situated There is also parking space for several vehicles at the villa. San Teodoro itself is one of the most popular destinations on the Island it has many restaurants, bars and agriturismos. The local beach La Cinta is breathtakingly beautiful with fine white sand and crystal clear blue water.

There are over 18 beaches and coves within a 10 to 20 minute drive from the villa. Should you decide to go to the many surrounding beaches parasols, beach towels and beach mats are provided free of charge.

You can of course just relax by the poolside. On a balmy summer evening one of our favourite pastimes is to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine, light some candles, listen to relaxing music and look at the night sky filled with twinkling stars. This is dolce vita at it's best. The area is also popular with cyclists, ornithologists and hill walkers. In the villa we have left informative leaflets and guide books.

The villa is situated within a "Blue Zone" this is classified where there is a large number of people who live to be over 100 years of age. Of all the blue zones throughout the World Sardinia has the most Centenarians. This is put down to the healthy food and in particular the Cannonau wine that the locals drink. There is a vineyard within a 15 minute drive where this delicious wine can be purchased.

We are only to pleased to answer any queries or questions you may have.

Beautiful unspoiled countryside. Beaches to die for. The locals are welcoming and the cuisine is excellent. The villa is the perfect retreat. Light and airy with a wonderful swimming pool. It's a great base for a Sardinian holiday. Sitting on the balcony at night, relaxing with a glass of wine and watching the twinkling lights of Padru in the distance it is so peaceful. Perfect spot for the "great escape"

Response from the owner Thank you so much for your glowing review of the villa and Sardinia. It was a pleasure having you here.

Fantastic place to get away from it all. Beautiful villa set in the middle of the country with tremendous views yet within easy reach of airport and San Teodoro. The house itself is well appointed with good sized bedrooms, all en suite with fantastic showers and large communal spaces. The kitchen is very well equipped and big enough for catering for 10. The balcony and its views are stunning and most of our meals were spent here enjoying the stunning sunsets as well as starting the day with breakfast here. We did use the indoor dining area one night which was a great size and the outside dining areas when we used the purposebuilt BBQ. A highlight for me was the good size pool which meant I could of lengths every morning before spending the rest of the day lying by the pool. Alan the owner was a great help, on hand if needed but doesn't intrude. He met us at the airport and took us to the local supermarket and vineyard on route ( the latter has great local wine) He also took us yo a local beach, beautiful, and pointed out free parking areas in town (San Teodoro). There are a couple of traditional Agriturisimo's within walking distance which are great to experience a traditional meal..... but you need to be hungry. Padru is 5 mins away by car where there are also restaurants and bars. Fantastic place to get away from it all. We'll definitely be back!

Response from the owner Thank you so much for your review. I am delighted you enjoyed the villa and surrounding areas. It was a pleasure having you here and look forward to your next visit. Kind Regards Alan

“Get away from it all for a restful break”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2014

At first, Smeralda Villa seems a little out of the way but we soon realised that the reality is you have complete privacy to enjoy a perfect holiday. The villa is spacious and spotless. The swimming pool is immaculate. The view from the balcony is breath taking. You sit there at night watching the twinkling lights, faraway in the village of Padru. The village sits at the foot of a mountain range which become silhouettes as darkness falls. The only noise comes from the sheep who have bells tied around their necks and the bells ring softly as the sheep move through the mountain range. The best and nearest airport is Olbia (Costa Smeralda). It's only 25 minutes away so you don't have far to travel on arrival. Padru is the nearest village and if you want to find a great beach and somewhere with some bars, restaurants and tourist shops then San Teodoro is 10 minutes from the villa by car. The villa provides a great retreat for those looking for the perfect 'chill' factor. I even saw a red kite and an eagle from the balcony one day. Alan, who hands over the keys, is extremely helpful and nothing is a problem. He will also cook, for an additional cost, which we arranged on a couple of occasions. He uses fresh, local ingredients and impressed us with his delicious chicken lasagne. He also was able to source some wonderful red wine! You definitely need a car if you're considering Sardinia for a holiday. It allows you to sample many of the sandy, nearby beaches with azure blue sea. The Sardinians are very friendly and enjoy showing their island off to it's full potential. I am seriously considering returning to this fabulous location and the villa in the future.

Response from the owner Dear Jane Thank you for your comments. I am so glad your family enjoyed your stay. As other guests have commented the villa is very private and secluded. The wildlife is truly amazing, I suppose the older we get the more we appreciate the wonders of nature. As you have said it is only 20 minutes from the airport but seems a world away from the the hustle and bustle of the tourist towns. Thank you for your comments on my cooking, I am definitely not Gordon Ramsay but I do my best.
