“Lovely family cottage”

Reviewed 20 Feb 2017

A great place to stay in the quieter part of Dunster. Three lovely bedrooms, one with en-suite and a family bathroom, and two living rooms so for a three generation family such as we were was ideal. A well provisioned kitchen meant we could eat in or locally at the many cafes and pubs, both in the village and further afield. Lovely walks in the castle grounds and around the area, and the shops in nearby Minehead meant there was something for everyone. The owner who keeps the Stags Head Inn was very welcoming and helpful. We 'll be back in the future.

“Fabulous place, bags of character , very close to high street.”

Needed somewhere to stay for a big family reunion. No problem to book on line, only staying for 2 nights so didn't do too much research. Pleasantly surprised to find it was such nice place, Warm and inviting. Can't wait to stay there again.

“A truly lovely stay”

The cottage is lovely, well equipped and charming. The location is great and you really don't notice that it is on the road. We booked through the Best of Exmoor who were very helpful and couldn't do enough. The Owner is very friendly and welcoming. We had a truly relaxing stay.

“An excellent week !”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2014

We just spent 1 week at Thyme Cottage in Dunster, Exmoor this August and had a very pleasant stay. The village itself, with a beautiful castle, is both quiet and active. There are numerous possibilities around for hiking, too. We met very kind people who helped us find our way, gave us directions and ideas of places to visit. The cottage itself was very comfortable, perfectly clean upon arrival, simply furnished yet with all equipment. All in all, a very nice place to recommend.

“A different experience”

Reviewed 14 Nov 2013

The cottage is comfortable and warm. However the central heating boiler in the bedroom made for a rather disturbed nights sleep. We also felt the cottage needed decluttering ie brush and comb set in bedroom and alot of useless furniture and bits of cloth covering furniture tops. It felt abit like camping out in someone else house, not a holiday rental.

“Warm and Comfort”

My family and I enjoyed every minute we spend in this cottage at Dunster, though very short holiday, the cottage is clean, well kept and Cosy, if I ever return to Minehead in future I will stay there again! Dunster is very interesting picture of country village, with fresh air and breeze.

“Average cottage”

1. Cottage features good back rooms quiet with lovely village setting 2. Dated furniture and bathroom fittings with no mixer taps. 3 front bedroom facing road which is busy with noise coming to room 4 no broadband or phone signal in house except if you go near front windows 5 expensive for value on offer

Response from the manager Thank you for your comments, we always appreciate feedback from our guests and take these notes on board. I am pleased to say that broadband is being installed in Thyme Cottage at the end of October 2013. I'm afraid there is little that we can do about the mobile phone signal, but as you say there is some signal at the front of the property. I am also pleased to report that some work is being done to improve the bathroom facilities which is taking place at present (Sept '13). We will update the photos and information on our website in due course to show the improvements that have been made. Thyme Cottage is in a great location in the Medieval village of Dunster, we hope you enjoyed your stay. Again, thank you for your comments and we hope to see you on Exmoor again sometime soon.
