“Perfect for peace and quite”

Reviewed 18 Jan 2017

Great cottage, really quite and peaceful, exactly what we wanted. Lovely walks on the doorstep. The hosts were amazing and really helpful! Would highly recommend.

“Lovely, clean, comfortable and quiet location for a relaxing break.”

Reviewed 18 Jan 2017

The property is situated in a quiet area with lovely views. Car would be needed to get out an about to see all the villages close by and to go out to eat. Very rural location so need to be prepared for narrow roads . If you are a walker there are plenty of different walks to do with breath taking views.

“Dunkery View”

The place itself was very good and the owners on-site very helpful: the only snag for persons of a certain age is that the rooms are upstairs and the WC and shower downstairs. There is a nice garden to sit in too and beautiful views. There are a few minor snags not under control of the owners: the note "pub in walking distance" is misleading, there is an hotel but it only serves evening meals Wednesday to Saturday. The village shop is quite good (and has a brand new freezer!) but is only open weekday mornings. Mobile 'phone reception is limited to Vodaphone, Virgin does not work. The owners have installed a WiFi hub but the broadband feed to it from the outside world only works for the odd few seconds so do your trip planning and booking before you go!

This was a truly wonderful place to stay. Cleanliness the quality of all the furnishings was beyond any expectation of a Holliday let.

“The best self-catering accomodation that we have ever stayed in”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2014

Spacious, well resourced, well maintained accommodation in the grounds of the owner's own home. No near neighbours so lovely and peaceful. Fantastic views from both the sitting room and the bedroom and our own private orchard to sit in on sunny evenings. A friendly village shop in easy walking distance and some fantastic walks in and around the area. Dunster is only 4 miles away and has some very good pubs and restaurants. We felt very welcome at both the beginning and during our stay. This is the best self-catering accommodation that we have ever stayed in.

“Good for relaxing.”

This suited us fine, a quiet and clean spot The village reminded us of what Devon and Somerset were like just after the war ! Easy to walk for a couple, or many more, hours on Exmoor from the doorstep. The Hotel in the village has a chef who can cook properly. Ideal for a couple to tour Exmoor and around.

“Thoroughly enjoyable”

First class accommodation in beautifull setting. A lovely base to explore the delights of Exmoor. Great area for walking and lots of places to eat...can't wait to go back!

“Excellant venue in beutiful surroundings”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2013

The accommodation was excellant, the attention to detail with the decorating, the furnishings etc was wonderful, the welcome was very good from the lady holding the keys, and the added extra's in the kitchen on arrival was very helpful and appreciated. The shower was outstanding, better than many other places have stayed in. It was a wonderful part of the country with excellant views and peace and quiet, will go again.

“beautiful view”

Well designed and comfortable flat with chocolate biscuits to have with tea when we arrived. Liked the village and useful small local shop. Most liked the view of Dunkery hill with deer and lovely orchard garden.
