This Quaint Log Cabin Nestled Amongst Trees in the Heart of the Manistee National Forest

Welcome to the Aubert Den. This cozy log cabin is located in the Ward Hills region of the Manistee National Forest. We invite you to come and enjoy all Lake County has to offer. Out the back door, you will find hiking trails leading you into the surrounding wooded hills. This immediate area is excellent for hiking, snow shoeing and seasonal hunting. Naturalists will enjoy our resident wildlife such as grouse, deer, owl and wood peckers. After dark, from time to time, the baying of the coyotes can be heard in the distance. For some fun and excitement, mountain bikers will find the North Country Trail just 3 miles from the cabin. Also, the Little 'O' ORV/ATV Trail can be reached by following our 2 track to the property line. Fishermen may travel 4 miles from the cabin to the Pere Marquette River Access at Rainbow Rapids. Snowmobilers are also welcome and may store up to 8 sleds in our garage. From there, just fire 'em up and trail 35 is one mile to the east.

Inside the cabin, twin bedrooms are outfit with Amish made log bunk beds. Each bunk bed has a full size mattress on the bottom and a twin size mattress on the top, sleeping 3 persons per room. In the living room, a full sized futon comfortable sleeps an additional 2 persons, accommodating 8 persons maximum. All bedding and towels are provided.

The kitchen is equipped with a standard size refrigerator/freezer, four burner electric stove top, a medium sized toaster oven, microwave, crockpot, coffee pot, pots, pans, cooking utensils, dinnerware, silverware, glassware and table linens. The dining table seats 6 comfortably with using the additional leaves provided. Behind the cabin, a charcoal grill is provided. Alternatively, an outdoor glass patio table seats 4, or you may enjoy taking advantage of vintage TV trays (set of 4) and skip the formalities.

To ensure a meaningful getaway up north, no television is provided. However, you are welcome to enjoy our extensive dvd collection that shall suit most interest types. We encourage our guests to spend time by the fire, as behind the cabin there is a fire ring for roasting goodies and telling stories.
