“Great romantic anniversary at Dreamcatcher”

Reviewed 14 Mar 2017

We loved staying at Dreamcatcher. The place is rustic but very clean and well organized. We had everything we needed to cook nice meals and were in the perfect spot to explore the surrounding towns. The hot tub under the canopy of the redwoods was the best feature. We had a lovely and memorable time.

Response from the manager Thank you so much Julia!! Yes, Dreamcatcher is a very special cabin. We are so happy that you enjoyed its' rustic charm and the hot tub in the redwoods. You were a wonderful guest. We would welcome you back to Dreamcatcher or to any of our other homes again, when you need another visit to Sonoma. Russian River wine country is always a good idea. Thank you again, Russian River Getaways

“Utterly Charming”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2016

I really want to live in this cute little cabin. It was way out in the middle of nowhere way up a mountain with a few other houses nearby but no through traffic. The building was just gorgeous, the kitchen well equipped, an ideal place to write for a week. The loft up above was so cozy and cool at night too. I just adore this place.

“Quiet weekend getaway”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2016

My partner and I spent a long weekend here with our small dog. The property was relatively easy to locate and is generally in good repair. Minor quibbles -- the knives needed sharpening (but we did this quickly/easily ourselves), neighbor's dogs barked when they saw us (which was infrequently), and there's a bookshelf positioned rather awkwardly on a landing in the staircase (which resulted in a few night-time bruises as we navigated to the restroom in the dark) -- but these absolutely did not detract from our stay. Others have noted that the hot water runs out fairly quickly, but we had no problems with back-to-back showers (although we're accustomed to taking quick showers given the drought). Folks with mobility issues may have difficulty navigating the walkway from the parking area to the cottage (it is modestly steep, but should be no problem for most). Bed and sofa were comfortable, and the kitchen was small but well-stocked. Property managers said that we'd need to bring our own sponges for dish-washing (which seemed odd) and that the property had no WiFi, but there was functioning WiFi and a sponge waiting for us. Heating system was adequate (and we had some nights in the high 40s Farenheit) and the cabin had no musty odors like some rental units do. Location served as a great jumping-off point for day-trips to Jenner and Mendocino, and is located near some excellent wineries. Would love to come back.

Just like the pics! Beautiful redwoods, quiet, secluded, wonderful hottub...would definitely return!

“Breath of Fresh air!”

Reviewed 20 Apr 2014

It was so nice to wake up in the morning and look out at the redwood trees, with morning mist enshrouding them. The loft was wonderful, making us feel as if we were in a tree house! We loved sleeping with the window open and enjoyed the fresh clean air. The hot tub was so nice, nestled among the trees. Our big 130 pound dog, loved running around like he owned the place (the fence kept him in). He was so happy!

Response from the manager This is such a wonderful description of your stay, thank you. We do hope you'll be back soon. -Rachel, Russian River Getaways

“Wonderful Experience at the Dreamcatcher”

Reviewed 21 Feb 2014

Just had a wonderful time staying at this place. It' a little tough to get to, but is a really beautiful cabin in the woods. The location is near a bunch of great places to hike, but you'll have to drive to any of them. It's close to a bunch of stuff to do, but there isn't anywhere that you can walk to. The hot tub and rustic feel is great and directions for using everything in the house were really clear. The only negative was that we woke up early on Saturday morning to a neighbor using a chainsaw for a couple hours. Not a big deal, but when you leave home to get away from noise in densely populated areas, waking up to a chainsaw isn't ideal. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone else though. The actual house is beautiful, the hot tub is nice, and the location is pretty good.

Response from the manager I'm glad to hear you had a good time at Dreamcatcher, chainsaw notwithstanding. Thanks for the detailed review, and we do hope you'll be back. What are the chances of a chainsaw striking in the same place twice? -Rachel, Russian River Getaways

“Quiet, rustic, remote getaway not too far from the wine valley t”

Reviewed 31 Oct 2013

A great option if you want to visit the region, but avoid the touristy and busy wine center cities. A bit of a drive to wine valleys, but mostly beautiful scenery along the way. Dark and remote property location on the side of a mountain - steep, winding drive up and down. Rustic - not a "luxury" facility. Very comfortable furniture, but watch your head on very-low ceilings in loft-bedroom. Bathroom adequate and clean but, again, not luxury. Terrible shower head. Bathtub was a bit awkward to step into and out of. Hot water provision very good. Kitchen good. We only did simple breakfast in house, no cooking. All basic needs included, but would be nice if they included sugar and coffee so you don't have to buy more than you end up using. Good grocery story in Guerneville, about 5 miles away though. Deck was not cleaned, and hot tub not up to snuff. Whole deck needed to be swept off and generally refreshed. Hot tub was clean and hot, but the seating padding in the tub was discolored, frayed and worn out. If the deck was ready for us and the tub padding replaced, we'd have spent time out there, it would have been a much better value and we'd have enjoyed it much more. Upon arrival, interior was a bit musty. Not a big deal, and kind of expected for an all wood cabin in the wettest part of the state. We aired it out for 30 minutes and bought a few smelly candles from the grocery store and it was fine after that. If staying in cooler months, you will need to buy wood and use the wood stove/heater. The small gas heater provided was just barely adequate at night (with outdoor temps down to mid-upper 40's).

Response from the manager This is a great, thorough review, thanks! We'll take a look at the issues you mention and pass your suggestions on to the owner. We do hope you'll come back for another stay. -Rachel

“Quaint private hideaway”

Reviewed 31 Oct 2013

Quaint private hideaway If you are looking for a peaceful retreat, Dreamcatcher is your place. It is very private yet easily accessible. It has wonderful charm and is a fabulous little cabin for a romantic getaway. The cabin has plenty of kitchen items, pot, pans, dishes, utensils, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, stove, oven, and fridge. The bathroom had two sets of towels, the bedroom had the right amount of blankets and pillows. We brought our own blanket which came in handy while lounging on the couch watching Dvds. The hot tub was clean and in perfect working order. You can take a stroll around the property and enjoy all of the sounds of nature among the beautiful redwoods. You are a short drive from Jenner, an adorable tiny town and the perfect place to pull over on the side of the road to watch the sea lions frolic in the surf. Guerneville is about a 15 minute drive and has cute little stores, gas stations, and Safeway. We had such a relaxing time and can't wait to schedule our next trip!

Response from the manager Ooooh, I'm so glad you had such a great experience at Dreamcatcher. It is a great house, and the location is divine! Thanks for the review, and please do come back soon. -Rachel

“Peaceful & quiet”

Reviewed 19 Oct 2013

Check-in was easy as we just followed the instructions we received in email. We loved relaxing among the trees either in the hot tub or on the front porch. It was a great adventure exploring the grounds with our dogs. We had everything we needed in the cabin - dish soap, laundry soap, paper goods, extra blankets, etc. It only takes about 10 minutes to get to town for food/shopping or the river beach and it is a nice drive to the coast no matter what route you take. The book is helpful for some things to do. We went to town and stopped at Russian River Getaways for an area map and literature on the area which was very helpful. The dogs next door are too excitable no matter what and because of all the notes we were overly concerned about them. They bark if they hear you walking in the grass! If you have good dogs, don't worry. There is only one closet to store and hang things and it is upstairs in the bedroom - we hung our coats on the chairs. You have to uncover the hot tub to find the controls. Watch out for scorpions, they like to hid under stuff in dark places. we found only saw one. What I enjoyed the most was the quiet mornings and evenings in the redwoods - the trees are beautiful and the air is clean. Thank you for a lovely vacation retreat.

Response from the manager You are so welcome, and thanks for the nice review of Dreamcatcher. We do hope you'll come enjoy our area again soon. -Rachel
