“Classic Russian River Hideaway”

Reviewed 6 Apr 2017

Johnny's Landing is a cozy well appointed cabin in the redwoods overlooking the Russian River. It was a quiet time on the river, the hot tub is small but certainly provided an opportunity to enjoy a relaxing soak under the stars. The location is great for exploring the town of Guerneville on foot and driving to the surrounding locations of Sonoma, Napa and the coast. The staff at Russian River Getaways were very helpful and responded immediately to helping reset the pilot light on the heating system. The cabin interior has a vintage feel. The sofa may have seen better days but I enjoyed it to lounge, relax and sip a local glass of pinot. The leather chairs are solid and comfortable. The fireplace is huge. The walls are seasoned with rich wood tones that make the space seem a bit dark but opening the curtains lets in the light to brighten the space. We enjoyed our quiet and peaceful time at Johnny's Landing and if you are looking for a place to recharge and getaway from the busy world, this is a great place to spend a few days. Looking forward to our next visit to the area. Cheers!

“Nice Little Cabin on the River”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2015

We enjoyed our stay at Johnny’s Landing for 3 nights. The cabin has access to the river and a nice view of the river from the deck with lots of trees for shade. At first when we arrived, the inside of the cabin seemed dark because of the wood panel walls, but when you open the windows, it was very nice. The cabin was equipped with everything, kitchen utensils, appliances etc. The kitchen is very tiny, but we managed just fine. We didn’t do too much cooking. The cabin is small, but just right for 2 people and our dog loved it that he could go outside because the yard is fenced. The only critical comment that we have is that we didn’t use the kayaks because they were quite dirty and it would have taken some work to clean them up to use. They are outside under the trees so it was understandable that they would get dirty. Maybe they need some kind of cover. Also there were no life jackets provided. The river is very shallow, but life jackets should still be available.

“Johnnys Landing”

Everything was wonderful except the ladder on the dock was broken and it was hard to get in and out of river. Other than that it was easy to book and check out, good directions, beautiful place and I would go again.

“Booking at Johnny's Landing”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2015

The room was a little different in person as compared to the images online. There is no central heating system onsite and it tends to get fairly cold in the evenings, this was a little unpleasant. Other than that the back yard area that takes you down to the Russian River was overgrown with plants/bushes which made it difficult to get down to the river safely. Once you get down to the river there is a big drop and you're unable to get into the water without jumping in... Unfortunately, the water is not quite deep enough to jump into. We were unable to use the river from the rear of the property. Overall, I'll say the place was sufficient, it didn't exceed expectations by any means and was a little pricey for what was offered, although the hot tub was a nice inclusion.

“Soothing Escape”

We enjoyed the privacy and charm of this wonderful little cabin, and especially the outdoor deck overlooking the river. The cabin had everything we needed, and the smell of the evergreens and clean air helped us sleep soundly at night!

“Quiet Log Cabin Pleasure”

Reviewed 2 Oct 2013

This is the second time that we rented Johnny's Landing. It is a sweet cabin, river side with easy access down steps on a steep slope. There is a lovely deck and although the property is in a neighborhood, the home is very private and quiet. Inside the furnishings are simple and functional, the kitchen (for one person) well equipped and the bedroom adequate. The ambiance is "cabin" with the centerpiece being an outstanding, large stone fireplace. The owners have added a futon to the living room. It is comfortable and probably a fine bed for an additional two people. There are several ways that the cabin could be improved. There are 3 chandeliers, but no reading light in the LR. (We brought our own lamp this time.) There was no firewood left for us. Most owners leave a working fireplace set up with kindling and logs for a "first fire". It is a generous and inexpensive way to thank your guests. We missed that. There was no down quilt on the bed and the foam pad on the bed was okay but not great. Again, the bed in any rental costing $250 a night should be outstanding. This is an average bed. All in all though, this is a lovely place and we would definitely consider it again.

Response from the manager Thanks so much for the good review and sharing your thoughts on the house. We'll make sure the owner sees it. We do welcome you back. -Rachel

“Perfect Setting”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2013

My husband and I needed to get away and relax, somewhere near the water. I came across this wonderful shabby chic cabin at Russian River, right on the river with 2 kayaks. Though the place is small, it had everything you could possibly need including being surrounded by so much to do. We kayaked the river, drove to Fort Ross, explored the vineyards, had delicious seafood in Bodega Bay as well as Guerneville, a fire in the large fireplace at nights. The property management company was wonderful to work with. We will come again!

Response from the manager Thanks so much for this review. So glad you enjoyed Johnny's and the area and look forward to your return. -Rachel

“An enjoyable and restful getaway.”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2013

Perfect little cabin with all the ammenities, a fantastic location leaving one to feel one is away from all the hustle of the city. Only one drawback, the sleeper couch quite unconfortable, other than that no complaints. We 3 generation of women plus one female dog totally enjoyed.

“Charming cabin with direct access to the Russian River.”

We stayed for a week in this one bedroom cabin conveniently located in Guerneville,California. The tiny kitchen had everything we needed including a microwave. The small Hotspring spa was great. Gas barbeque was nice to use on warm days. On site parking was easy. Landscaping was lovely. Though we did not bring our dog, it is a pet friendly (with rules) lodging.
