“Go buckeyes!!”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2010

Everything was Great! My cousins and I stayed for a week at this beach house. The place was clean. The rooms were convenient. Everyone had their own space, but still had a common room to relax and have fun together. The pool was fabulous and the pool was cleaned every two days. The beach access was right across the street. Could not of had a better time staying at this house. My only complaint was the front door was hard to lock and unlock. We barely locked it because we were afraid of getting locked out. I stayed in an upstairs room, but heard complaints that the downstairs beds were very uncomfortable, might be time to replace those. They still got the job done and everyone had a good time. Kudos to the staff!!! They were very helpful. We showed up 2 hours early in hopes that our place was cleaned so we could watch the Buckeyes. It wasn't, but the manager came out right when we were leaving and told us without a doubt it would be in time. They did not disappoint. Loved this house and the vacation. Thanks for a lovely week!

“very enjoyable”

“great location, beautiful beach, nice pool, average house”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2010

overall i think that this property is a very good property. it is easily accesible because there are few steps to get to the main part of the house. it is super close to the beach and the walkway to the beach is well maintained. the house is a good size and good set-up. the basement is a little damp and there is a dehumidifier that needs dumped/cleaned. the maid service did not do that. the bathroom in the lower level needs attention. because the lower level is ground level there is an ever so slightly bug infiltration-which is probably to be expected because of its location. the toads only come out and night and are not a problem during the day. the pool is clean. from my observations, the maid service does the really bare minimum to "clean" the house.

“Memories at Mint Julep”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2010

This was our 7th or 8th year at Mint Julep. My parents always took us to Wildwood NJ. Even as a child, I did not care for Wildwood. I love Mint Julep because the living is easy! It isn't commercialized. There are no "money making" piers with loud noise. My family loves Emerald Isle and we look forward to it all year. The youngest ones are the most fun, because they talk about it all year round.

“Not as good as last year??”

Reviewed 6 Jul 2010

Location is wonderful but not as clean as last years stay at the Mint Julep...needed thorough cleaning...could tell surface cleaning only was completed. Also needs some refurbishing...leaky faucets, toilet seat cracked, carpet needs cleaning in bedrooms. Dust balls (at least 25 under bed)...and crumbs under couch. Couch was torn. Lights burned out in downstairs bedroom on our arrival. Had two visits from maintenance men that were related to previous complaints. One issue my husband fixed after our arrival. One maintenance man just walked in downstairs without knocking and had a small child with him that just came upstairs into the home without acknowlegdement. Air conditioning is not sufficient enough to cool home in the summer days...even with all the blinds closed!! We love Emerald Isle and Shorewood was very efficient.

“Family Vacation to Emerald Isle for 1st Time @ Mint Julep”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2010

We have typically vacationed on the Gulf Coast in the past, and decided to try a change of pace and chose Emerald Isle. (Turned out to be a good choice with the recent oil spill affecting the gulf coast) We were lucky enough to find Mint Julep on line in an extensive web search and were very happy with the close proximity to the beach, the private pool, and the family friendly amenities in this affordable vacation rental. In addition, we found Shorewood realty to be very responsive to our requests and we would recommend the location and both this rental unit and the rental company, as well.

“Family Vacation”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2010

We like Emerald Isle very well, this was our 7th trip. About 12 of us stayed the week in Mint Julep. We found that the home needed some upgrades. The property could have been cleaned alittle better before check in time. The air condionting did not work as well as we would have liked. The power outlets in the bathroom uptairs did not work, frogs were swiming in the pool most nights. We had to call for pool cleaning, in the past we have had that service without request. The fridge had a terrible odor and leaked all week. The television in one bedroom did not have cable hooked up. Not near enough clocks in the home, the large clock in the kitchen needs a new battary.

Response from the manager This moderately priced oceanview beach house with a lovely pool on the oceanside is rented often and enjoyed by many. Prior to each guest arrival, all of our homes are professionally cleaned and inspected. It is unfortunate that any requests, maintenance, housekeeping, or other were not brought to our attention. We have staff available to address any and all guest requests for services throughout their vacation. We know that rapid response to guest requests is imperative. Our mission is to provide beach houses that are prepared and presented beautifully so that each valued guest can fully enjoy their stay. We are very sorry that this guest did not contact us with their requests, so we could have met their needs while they were here at the beach.

“Great view, poor beds, needs some upgrades”

Reviewed 2 Jun 2010

When we arrived, the home was very dirty. We had to spend half a day cleaning it up. If we hadn't stayed here before, we wouldn't have endured some of the poor results. Nail pops on the deck weren't taken care of until after we left, so we had to be careful the children didn't get hurt on them. The beds (3 out of 5) needed new mattresses. Leaking refrigerator, leaking dehumidifier. We were refunded one night due to the clean up we had to do. The maid that was sent to touch up notified the agency that she couldn't just touch it up. The pots and pans that were added this year were great. We could actually cook a proper meal...

“Nice, but buggy.”

Reviewed 26 Oct 2009

The staff at Shorewood was very courteous during the rental process. We found the cottage to be true to it's depiction. Very happy with accommodations and location. We were, however, upset with the bug situation and when we ran out of hot water due to a bad water heater element. In all my years of cottage renting, this was my first instance with bugs (up and downstairs). In reference to the water heater, it took almost two days to repair which greatly affected bathing and dishwashing. I feel the bugs should have been addressed in advance of our check in and the repair handled a little more timely.

“I JUST CAN'T TAKE MY DOG”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2009

It was probably one of my most favorite places to stay. My only issue is I can't take my dog. Bu other than that, I would stay there again. It was the perfect setup for me and my family. They're 20 +, love the pool. I have recommended it to others. Jane Lancaster
