“Well stocked home with easy beach access”
We love that Grandpa can surf fish and we can stay on the deck or house and assist him if needed--the rest of us are not fishermen. We love the area of Emerald Isle, the beach size etc. and easy access to the shopping center. Some of our party like to walk to the Point during our stay. The house is well stocked and we like the linen service so we don't have to pack those, too. Shorewood office personnel are great! A big thanks to our "savior" when we were locked out. A restful beautiful week was enjoyed by all, after several cool days at the beginnjng of the week. Grandpa didn't catch any fish for the first year. Disappointing but Islanders said the water was murky and the fish don't like that--from the previous rains.
“A Perfect Fit!”
Fins was an absolute perfect fit for our family. The space was just enough for us. The kitchen was well-equipped. The furnishings were nice and new. We enjoyed viewing some of the owners' DVD. We would very much like to rent it again the next time we are back in Emerald Isle.
“Comfortable Beach Front House”
The house was very comfortable. One of the best things was it being on the ocean--right there. One of the not best things--no Wi-Fi. The owners need to spend some of their profits and get dependable Wi-Fi. For this last item, I would not stay there, unless they got Wi-Fi---dependable, that is!
A very relaxing vacation. The longest we have ever had, in a good way. It seemed as if time moved so slowly. We called it "Emerald Isle time!" It was awesome being right on the Ocean and will certainly plan on that from here on out.
“Great Potential, Needs Better Execution”
Fins To the Right is nicely furnished and supplied. We like the southwest end of the island, so the location is good. There is a great view from the upper deck, also good from the lower. The design, all bedrooms and full baths upstairs, half bath down with LR and K, will suit some and annoy others who want a master suite with more privacy at night. We only got to use part of the house because of maintenance issues. The kitchen had lots of ants around the range and nearby cabinets. We checked in on Sat and were told only to report true emergencies (the place is burning, for instance) over the weekend. On Monday we reported the ants in the AM. Someone came to deal with them Weds, so for over 4 days of our 7 we had to use the kitchen sparingly and take great care about food storage. Even Friday night I was still killing ants on the refrigerator door and dishwasher. Really annoying, and I hope taken care of for the season. When we moved in nearly all the doors to bedrooms and bathrooms would not close or would close only with a mighty shove. With only a single half bath downstairs, where you spend most of your time during the day, our mixed three had issues of modesty using the downstairs toilet . While the other doors got better (humidity fell?) over the week, or we got accustomed to yanking them or walking around the open spots, the down half bath was a true issue of door not trimmed to door frame. So, we had only some people using the only toilet on the first floor all week. We didn't report this because it was not a true emergency over the weekend, and a response like that for ants would have been little help. The final issue was that we were never able to connect any laptop wireless card to the unit's wireless base. We had good hardware, met the base's apparent standards, and so forth, but could not connect. Ended up linking to a neighbor's open network that was slow and low connectivity. That was all the SR office could recommend.
Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to post a review for Fins-West, located on the very popular west end of Emerald Isle. This property is meticulously maintained by very conscientious homeowners. The three bedrooms are all on the top floor, as well as 2 full baths, which is great for a family with small children. The master bedroom is not huge, but offers wonderful ocean views from the comfort of bed! There is also a small balcony off the master, accessed by a sliding door. The "sticking" interior door(s) will be assessed and corrected. The home is under a pest contract and is treated on schedule. Regarding the internet access, the home is equipped with high speed internet access, but it is not currently "wireless"~ an internet cable is provided for guest use, though. (Shorewood does not advertise WIFI for this property). The homeowner IS considering installing "wireless" for the 2011 season.
“Great Spring Break”
The house was adorable, clean and bright. We loved being able to see the ocean everyday. We came down to see my son who is stationed at Camp Lejeune and it was very relaxing for him as he got to spend a couple of days with us. We plan on renting Fins to the Right again!
“Great Property for a small family.”
We loved Fins to the Right. Great beach access and wonderful views. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The property is located in a quiet area of the beach with a small playground within walking distance. The master bedroom was very comfortable and our daughter loved the room with the bunk beds. The bedroom with the double is a little small and dark, but worked well for our small family.
