“Fabulous stay in fabulous Venice”
This apartment is a perfect place to stay for a Venice vacation. It is spacious, clean and comfortable. We are a couple with an adult son and separate bedrooms were a nice alternative to hotels. The price is cheaper than most Venetian hotels. The kitchen is well-appointed and I made 3 dinners in it. The Views on Venice staff were wonderful. They met us at the vaporetta stop, which was only a 2 min walk away and accommodated a late check-out. The location is an easy walk to all the sights but out of the fray that is in the San Marco area. Don't let the walk-up aspect scare you away. You have great views of the Salute church and you get to work off the gelato that you eat.
We enjoyed our stay completely. The view from the living room was beautiful. The kitchen was comfortable. The apartment is very large and comfortable. The location is great. It is close to the main attractions but located on a side street so that it is quiet at night and you could rest. I will definitely stay here again.
“Magical experience in a quiet and beautiful neighbourhood.”
Rachelle met us at the Salute Vaporetto stop and settled us in very courteously. The apartment was very beautiful and convenient whilst still very peaceful and out of the tourist crush. San Marco is just too busy and we were there in the off season. We came for the art and architecture so the location was perfect. Its a very artsy area of galleries including the Guggenheim, the Punta dell Dogana, the accademia and some great spaces for younger emerging artists. Rachelle showed us how to get to the Billa supermarket which is a scenic, and unusually direct for Venice, walk away. The decor was a mix of traditional Venetian and modernism with all the conveniences. Be prepared for stairs as Venice doesn't have elevators. We stayed off season during the Euro crisis so value was outstanding. Will definitely stay here again in the off season!
Response from the manager Ciao Byron Thank you so much! We’re really pleased to hear how things went and that you enjoyed both the apartment and its peaceful position close to so many great galleries. Hoping very much that we see you again (at any time of year!) and sending all our very best from Venezia to Sydney. Arrivederci Filippo, Views on Venice
“Excellent place for two”
Excellent service; lovely views, quiet. But missing laundry facilities. Would have been perfect with lift, but the stairs were not a problem.
Response from the manager Ciao Jason – so glad your stay went well and hope that we see you again :-) Thanks so much! Arrivederci Filippo, Views on Venice
“Quiet and comfortable value”
The flat was lovely, spacious and very comfortable. We particularly appreciated the air-conditioning, wifi and dishwasher. We travel as a family, so we really used the place for eating and relaxing rather than just sleeping. It is up three flights of stairs, which is good exercise, to say the least - but this is Venice so it is very much par for the course. Our only quibble was that we found the area a little isolated. Which was great on some levels as it was quiet and peaceful but not so good for grocery shopping. Apart from one little local deli we had to walk 20 minutes or so to get to a bakery or market. It is very close to the Salute vaporetto if you are a fan of these crowded and expensive ferries. The service was really good and helpful. They met us at the property and even helped to carry our bags up the stairs, which was really appreciated. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend the place.
Response from the manager Ciao Peter – I’m really delighted you had such a great stay and that you and your family felt relaxed and at home. With very many thanks for choosing Views on Venice and hope very much that we’ll see you again. With the best wishes of the team to you all there in Melbourne Arrivederci Filippo, Views on Venice
“Great apartment, perfect location”
Ca' Della Fornace is a great choice for staying in Venice. It's location in the Dorsoduro section is perfect - less touristy, plenty of nearby restaurants, shops, and a grocery, and a Tragetto stop nearby for a quick ride to the "center" of Venice. It is great to be able to quickly get back to your apartment to relax after a long day of exploring... The apartment is clean, spacious and comfortable and the bedrooms are big. It was very hot while we were there so the portable air conditioning was very much appreciated and used (it should be no surprise that Venice buildings do not have central air!). Booking and check-in/out through Views on Venice was flawless. We were greeted at the vaporetto stop and taken to our apartment right away. The features of the apartment were explained as well as information on where the nearest supermarket, tragetto, and less touristy restaurants could be found. Looking forward to returning!
Response from the manager Ciao Chris – I’m thrilled to hear you had such a great time and equally thrilled that we’ll see you again! Thanks so much for writing in and for letting us know - here’s to the next time! A presto Filippo, Views on Venice
“Amidst the Venetians we felt part of it all”
The greeting complete with how to get here there and everywhere and also back to airport was fantastic. The apartment was clean and had every mod con incl aircon which was great with the humidity of that week. It felt like home. We loved the location - not great with a pram but that would be the same in all of Venice with all the stairs and bridges
Response from the manager Dear Carolyn - many thanks for choosing to stay with us during the summer and for writing in. Yes, a pram plus bridges isn't the most perfect of combinations for easy travel but how fantastic to give your children the opportunity of experiencing Venice and its sights at such a tender age - I really hope they enjoyed it! Wishing you and your family plenty of return trips in the future and hope to see you again soon! Ciao e Grazie (and a very 'Happy New Year') Filippo, Views on Venice
“Quiet and snug”
I and my guests appreciated Ca'della Fornace very much. It was quiet and very snug, close to a vaporetto stop, not too far from a supermarket and within walking distance of some of Venice's finest churches and galleries. Its position on the Dorsoduro made it more attractive than a flat closer to Saint Mark's Square and the main tourist areas. The flat was well fitted out and everything worked properly. We were met at the vaporetto stop and shown everything we needed. We liked the light, bright quality of the rooms, the comfort and ( in winter) the warmth. The only thing we found to criticize was the slightly awkward locking of the front door to the house - I think this needs to be attended to. Otherwise an excellent stay. Thank you !
Response from the manager I'm so pleased that you and your guests had a cosy time at Ca' Della Fornace and enjoyed the location (a particularly appealing spot for those with a love of modern art and who like to get away from the crowds, yet at the same time only a short hop by Traghetto Gondola Ferry over to shops and action of the San Marco area). Also, many thanks for bringing to our attention the slightly awkward locking of the front door - please accept my apologies for this, I hope it didn't present you with too much of a problem at the time (our team has been notified and will be looking into this immediately). Once again, many thanks for choosing to stay with us in Venice - we hope to welcome you back again soon! Filippo, Views on Venice
“Lovely 2/3 BR apartment in Venice, so glad we chose it!”
We visited Venice for a week over Thanksgiving 2009. We stayed in Ca' Della Fornace apartment. It is a beautiful apartment and we are so glad we chose it. We were met at our boat stop and escorted to our apartment. Along the way, sights, restaurants and other things were pointed out to us, which was helpful. When we got to our apartment it was on a lovely quiet canal. It was several flights up, since the apartment was on the top floor. The walk up with our suitcases was a pain, but we only did that on day 1 and day 8! Otherwise, we kinda appreciated the exercise. (My husband and I are in our 50s). The views from the top floor were really nice. We saw the Santa Maria della Salute Church and the canal from our windows. At night it looked so pretty with the lights on the church. We got an apartment so we could cook, to save money, plus my husband enjoys cooking. The kitchen was small but really nice. Had what we needed, including olive oil, spices etc. Our daughter was in Venice studying abroad, so she navigated us to the supermarket she liked, Billa, about a ten minute walk. We also found a bakery and we were close to several shops. A shop right next store was an "oar making shop" for the gondolas, it was nice walking by and seeing them work their magic out of wood. We were very close to a boat stop, which was nice. The apartment was VERY quiet, which we wanted. The master bedroom's bed was extremely comfortable and seemed larger than a queen. The second bedroom had two twin beds and there was a third bedroom/sitting room with another single bed. The bathroom was nice, plenty of hot water. The living room was comfy and relaxing. Plenty of books to read, in English. We did not watch TV as most was in Italian, but we used our laptop daily and the wireless access worked flawlessly. The apartment has lovely windows and plenty of light. We loved staying in this neighborhood, loved the location the only consideration would be in walking up flights of stairs. It was perfect!
Response from the manager Delighted to hear that you and your husband were so happy at Ca' Della Fornace and found everything to your liking (despite the stairs!) I totally agree that staying in an apartment is ideal if you enjoy cooking, especially if you have an interest in local specialities and in saving on costs at the same time. Looking forward to seeing you in Venice again in the future and wishing your daughter the best of luck in her studies. Ciao e Grazie Mille Filippo, Views on Venice
“Bliss on the canal at Ca Della Fornace”
Christmas Day in Venice; waking to our canal three floor below our apartment - Rio della Fornace in Dorsoduro - aqua alta lapping at the pavement. Above us to the north is majestic Salute. This apartment was very comfortable, quiet and had beautiful view not only to the north but, from the main bedroom, over the building's private garden to the south. My wife and I and our two teenage children also found this place a perfect base to explore Dorsoduro on foot - easy walks to Peggy Guggenheim, Academia, St Barnaba, Zattere and beyond. Also close to Salute vaporetto stop for anywhere else if we didn't want to walk. Shop, restaurants, bars and supermarkets were close enough, too. All our contacts with Views on Venice were very friendly and efficient, from our first email to our return to Australia. We were met at the vaporetto stop by a representative and escorted to the apartment. We found out the next day that there were no wine glasses - one call and they were promptly delivered. Our only criticism was the very low kitchen sink, but I am quite tall! This wouldn't stop us returning, however. Good facilities to cook - our Christmas evening meal of fish bought at the Rialto Markets was memorable.
Response from the manager Many thanks for taking the time to write a review of your holiday at Ca’ Della Fornace - it’s great to hear that you and your family had such an enjoyable time at the apartment over the Christmas period, that we were able to have been of assistance to you during your stay and that you’ve returned home with special memories of our wonderful city. Hoping to see you in Venice again soon and being of service to you once more. Ciao a tutti e Grazie Mille. Filippo, Views on Venice
