“Perfect location!”

Reviewed 9 Nov 2014

My wife and I recently rented an apartment for four nights in Rome. We usually stay in small boutique hotels when we travel to Europe, but this trip we wanted to experience the city from a bit more of a "local's" perspective. We found a wonderful and charming apartment through The Key to Italy near the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. When we arrived in Rome, we called the phone number given to us by The Key to Italy and soon we were met at our apartment and given keys and instructions by Andreas, a very pleasant and helpful young Roman who, thankfully, spoke excellent English. Located midway between the Vatican and the Colosseum, our neighborhood turned out to be a perfect location for walking to everything we wanted to see and do -- all the major attractions in Rome are no more than 20 minutes walking distance from this apartment. And believe me, you do want to walk -- there is something to see and do on every block! Better yet, within steps of our apartment were Enoteca Corsi, a fabulous lunch-only wine bar and eatery; Enoteca di Sardegna Pigna, a charming wine bar/ market/ restaurant where we enjoyed a scrumptious take-out lunch (which we enjoyed with friends in our apartment dining room); and a friendly and popular coffee bar on via Della Pigna, perfect for starting each day in this amazing city. I would definitely recommend The Key to Italy for anyone looking to visit Rome who wants to experience, if only briefly, what it feels like to actually live in the Eternal City!

“Great location”

The best thing about Gesu 2 is the location - around the corner from the Pantheon and within walking distance to many of Rome's key attractions and other amenities like nice restaurants, cafes and supermarkets if you need them. We didnt cook but the small kithcen has enough to put a meal together. The apartment is small but accommodated our family of 4 quite comfortably for our four days in Rome.

Response from the manager Thanks Carol! I agree, location can't be beat! ciao and thanks for your review. Francesca

“Great Location in the centre of Rome”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2012

My wife and I (late 40s) stayed in apartment Gesu 2 right in the centre of Rome for 3 days in May 2012 prior to a cruise. Great location within walking distance to Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Campo dei fiori, Piazza navona. Plenty of resturants close by and a supermarket with all you need just up the street. While there is a lift you do need to walk a half flight of stairs to reach the appartment. Air con and opening windows with a basic kitchen which we did not use much due to the restaurants and many coffe shops nearby. Bed was firm and up a small number of stairs. The appartment building is located in a laneway off the main road so no vehicle traffic noise but well used path by tourist and tour groups to get to Pantheon. We felt safe even coming home late with good security in the building. Giovanni organised pickup from the airport and transer to Port on departure. Both were on time and provided door to door service with some guided commenty on the way. Would stay again and would recommend to others. Great location and the 3 day stay was a great start to our Med cruise. Mark (Australia)

“Great apartment, fantastic location and assistance!!!”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2012

This was by far my favorite of the 5 apartments I stayed in on my three month tour of Europe. Spacious and clean and right in the middle of everything. What's more, as a solo traveller I felt safe there, which is particulary important for me... especially as I love Rome at night. Great food close by also... Trattoria Pino alle Coppelle and Ristorante Santa Cristina al Quirinale (must try their fried pizza and pasta with fried zuccini... So bad... but sooo good! Last but not least... the welcome I recieved and the help provided from the management of this property was literally the best ive had over the course of my trip!!! Thank you for having me!!!

Response from the manager thanks Renee, very appreciated and very proud to be your first choice among other vacation rentals in 3 months! thank you for having stayed with us! best Giovanni

Plenty of room for a family of 4 including teenagers) - great central location that allowed us to walk everywhere. Public transportation up the street if you're not into walking. Air conditioned apartment perfect after a day of sightseeing. Lots of local stores and restuarants.

Response from the manager Happy to see you've enjoyed the location and the accommodation so much! best Tiziana

“Great central apartment in Rome”

The apartment was lovely, Hassan met us as we exited the taxi and checked us in. The sitting are was well furnished and clean. The double bed was very firm but comfortable. The bathroom was very clean also. The location was excellent. We were right next to the Dante museum so finding our way back was simple. We never used a taxi or bus. Walking to the fountains, the Vatican and colleseum was simple. Numerous cafes were nearby as well as a small grocery. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to friends.

Response from the manager thanks for your tips and your great review! all the best. Hassan

“Wonderful stay in Rome!”

Reviewed 19 Jun 2012

My husband, daughter and I stayed at the apartment for 4 nights and had a wonderful experience. We were met at the apartment by Hassan, who explained how the appliances and doors worked, provided us with detailed maps, and gave us alot of useful and practical information which saved us time and money. Thanks Hassan! You are in walking distance to the Pantheon (3 min), Piazza Navona (5 min), and Forum-Colloseum-Palatine Hill (15 min), and alot of restaurants and cafes, but the prices are a little higher. Go on the other side of the river, and prices are much more reasonable. Renting the apartment was much better than staying at a hotel, and we would definitely do it again.

Response from the manager Thanks for your feedback, we agree apartments are a great alternative to hotels and Gesu 2 apartment is in a very unique location! I hope to see you soon again! Tiziana & Hassan

“Ideal Location In Rome”

Reviewed 10 Oct 2011

We spent 8 nighs in Rome in this apartment and enjoyed every minute of it. The location is perfect. We were within walking distance of all the major sites, an excellent outdoor market at the Campo diei Fiori, and pulic transportation via the bus and tram. The apartment was spacious, clean, attractive and very comfortable for 2 adults. We really appreciated the air conditioning on several very hot days and the elevator for the lugage. The kitchen was just functional, with a hot plate for cooking, which meant that you really could not cook a full meal there, but it was fine for breakfast and tavola calda. The refrigerator was spacious and the dishes adequate. We bought our own coffeemaker after the first daybecause the one in the aoartment only made 2 cups. The bathroom was very roomy and attractive and the sleeping loft bed was very comfortable. The only real drawback was the lack of a telephone. We did not have a European cell phone and had no way to make local calls. This became a real issue after my husband was pickpocketed and we needed to call the us. Overall, we thought the apartment was very good and we wound not hesitate to stay there again.

Response from the manager Hello Archie, great to hear how much you enjoyed the place. As for a local phone in the apartment, owners are generally concerned about international calls being charged to them, so they are not very open on it. However we provide extensive recommendations and tips for our clients on how you to rent cheap mobile phones that, by the way, is far more convenient to stay in touch during a trip than a fixed phone. thanks and I hope to see you soon again in Rome!
