“Wonderful condo that needed proper cleaning...”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2013

Location and property were perfect, rate was reasonable for preseason and negotiated slightly lower because of two week stay. However, our vacation was impacted by poor quality cleaning. On arrival refrigerator/freezer had been cleaned with an ammonia product; it took four days to remove the odor before we could use it (we were told to take care of it ourselves.) We cleaned other areas that had problems as well. The response to our complaint outlining problems and impact, and asking for rate adjustment because of the impact, was that we had already received a rate reduction and that the property was rented for much more in the summer. It would have been nice to at least receive a thank you for outlining the problems, an apology for the problems, and some token of good will. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

Response from the manager Unfortunately, as a property manager for over 400 properties, from time to time there are tenants that simply cannot be satisfied. While we can see that the ammonia cleaning product could be an issue, it is never our policy to tell a tenant to "take care of it yourself" nor will it ever be.We have rented this unit for 10 years and this is the first time we have had a complaint. The tenant currently in the unit is having a wonderful week of vacation. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and are the number one rental office in Cape May for this reason. We are disappointed that this customer was dissatisfied, however we also realize that sometimes it is not possible to please everyone.
