We always pick a place based on value and location...for this place, ski out was fabulous...ski in needed some practice but when we figured it out we were skiing right onto our back deck. The cabin was well stocked and had everything we needed including the essentials like towels and papergoods. Comfortable for 2 families of 4 (with school aged kids). Only thing missing was a place to store boots and skis...a mudroom of sorts would have been amazing. With 8 skiers in one cabin, the equipment got really tight, even when leaving the skis themselves out of the back deck overnight. Helmets, boots, gloves were everywhere and scrambled to get them dry by the next a.m. A couple of boot dryers are a cheap investment that are well worth it...but now I'm being picky..it was really great overall and would definitely return.
“A little piece of heaven for skiing”
Big Sky Vacation Rentals was outstanding. Kirsten and Mike took very good care of us. We had a problem with the bb-que and a new one was delivered the next day. The house has a good layout for adults, if you are travelling with a lot of young children you may crave some privacy but it is manageable. The only complaint we had is the mattresses are very hard, for some people that is not a problem for us it was. We enjoyed being able to cook at night, the area is quiet, not a lot of night life but we weren't looking for any. The houses have great locations for skiing, however if you are there in the summer I think the houses are to close together which translates into a lack of privacy. We were 3 adults, we traveled with or adult daughter. We had a wonderful trip, the snow was great, the ski area was wide open with out lines and the weather was ideal. The pictures really don't do the area justice nor can you really get an idea of the layout of the area. The house pics are accurate.
Response from the manager Thank you for your comments. We always appreciate the opportunity to solve any issues that come up during a guest's stay. The good thing about summer is that while there are cabins nearby, they are rarely all occupied at the same time so it is very quiet and peaceful and not unusual to see wildlife. We have other floorplans with bonus spaces for families that would like to have two living spaces so that adults and kids can enjoy some time apart. Thanks for staying with us and we hope you will return to Big Sky! The Big Sky Vacation Rentals Team.
“A great place to take a family vacation!”
We stayed here right before Christmas and had a wonderful family vacation. Big Sky is a wonderful vacation destination and Kirsten and her team went out of their way to think of everything so that we wouldn't have to. My children (7and 11) are still talking about how great the vacation it was and asking to go back. When we travel, my family is used to staying at five-star hotels (yes, I've spoiled them, my kids are going to be shocked when they go off to college) and we felt right at home in this cabin. I would highly recommend this cabin or the many others that Kirsten has available. Call her like I did and she'll tell you what's a good fit for you.
“Spacious, clean and very comfortable!”
Kristen did a great job of making sure everything was well set up prior to our stay, including restaurant recommendations, providing a crib, ideas about a Yellowstone trip and details on where to ski. Our two younger kids shared the room with queen bunks and loved it. Our twelve year old was in the second master and felt like a king. While the house is ski in, ski out, because of different schedules within the family we found it just as quick to drive to the base and use free parking.
“The Perfect Mountain Cabin”
We stayed here during a meeting at Big Sky. My employees absolutely loved it. The setting was great and the hot tub under the stars capped a perfect weekend.
This place was beautiful on the inside. We had 9 people and it never seemed crowded. Once we got the hang of the ski-out we would ride right to our deck. You have to ski a small distance down to the first chair. Master bedrooms were huge and the bathrooms were nice. Kirsten was very accommodating and always helped as soon as we asked. We would go back next year for sure!
“Excellent accommodations at Big Sky”
This unit is a true ski-in, ski-out. The unit is very nice, well stocked and well maintained. Kirsten King is a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone seeking a ski-in, ski-out unit in Big Sky.
Kirsten was very thorough while checking our group into the home. She also clearly explained how to get to the ski hill and restaurants and let us know what to due when we checked out. The location was great due to the ski-in and ski-out trail right off the back deck. The hot tub is always a nice touch. It was nice having lots of cooking items already in the house; like coffee filters, sugar, spices, garbage bags, as well as games and ipod dock. The best thing about the home was the proximity to the hill and lifts. The couple of things we didn't like were: the dishwasher was not mounted to the cabinets, so it would tip out whenever we loaded it. Also, the rear door would always stick in the frame and upstairs bathroom doors would bind on the floor and it was very difficult to open and close them. Just minor inconveniences and would not stop us from coming back again.
“Convenient ski-in ski-out cabin”
This property was great for skiing but would not be as convenient for a summer vacation. The cabin was very comfortable for cooking and serving meals and relaxing. Although there is a garage the owners do not provide an opener which is a problem It would not be safe to park in the street and the driveway is quite steep. We had to walk down the drive after manually closing the door from the inside because it is too narrow to allow getting into the car. Steep and slippery, this wasn't safe either. If you don't use the garage the drive won't be plowed in a slow which could be a problem as well. The owner should reconsider this issue and charge a steep fine for openers that aren't returned if that is the big issue. As you can tell this was a daily problem for us and a damper on the stay.
“Great Log home at Big Sky”
Kirsten from Big Sky Vacation Rentals recommended this place and she and her team provided us with exceptional service. The ski in is best for skiers , as there were some flat spots that made it harder for our snow boarders. Ski out was perfect. Kitchen was great for big family dinners and house was well equipped with most everything needed. We will definately rent again from Kirsten.
