“Stephanie's review of La Maison du Gard”
We loved La Maison du Gard and were sad to leave. The location was great, as we were able to see many sites in Languedoc and Provence. In fact, we did so much that we felt we didn't have enough time at the property to fully enjoy it. The backyard was beautiful. Most of the time that we were at the property, we were in the backyard. The kids loved the swimming pool and it was a beautiful setting for dinner. It was also neat being in a little village during the time of the festival. We spent a lot of time going to the different sites in the area, such as Pont du Gard, Nimes, Uzes, Les Baux, and St. Remy. It was very convenient.

Had a great time. Ray and Christine could not have been more gracious and helpful. Bathrooms Easily accessible to Arles, Avignon, Uzes, Pont du Gard, Nimes, et al.
“Donald's review of La Maison du Gard”
We enjoyed the entire stay. The house was in walking distance to town. A five minute walk to the bakery and cafe. A 10 min walk to the InterMarche grocery store. The wonderful vaulted ceilings, the great bathrooms, and the wonderful patio and pool. The Chateau and cafe.
“Janice's review of La Maison du Gard”
Our stay at La Maison du Gard was wonderful. Such a beautiful house and yard. The bedrooms and bathrooms were outstanding and it was so nice to be able to sleep with the windows open. Ray and Christine couldn't have been nicer. They were so accommodating. The swimming pool and the outdoor patio were our favorites. We ate every meal outdoors and were never bothered by insects of any kind. The pool was so refreshing after a day of touring the area. There was not enough light in the living room and no bathroom on the first floor. After a few days of running up and down the circular staircase, however, it didn't seem so bad--but it would be difficult for anyone with bad knees, etc. The market in Nimes was fun and we found a great array of fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meats, etc. One of our group was a cyclist and he enjoyed the area for cycling.
“Peggy's review of La Maison du Gard”
We had a wonderful time. The house and garden are beautiful, and Ray and Christine were wonderful hosts. The area was very peaceful and relaxing. It was fairly easy to get around by bus and train, and we didn't rent a car. The house itself is very unique and comfortable. We had plenty of room for 7 of us to spread out. The garden and pool are lovely and we really enjoyed sitting by the pool and eating outdoors. Older people might have a hard time with the spiral staircase. I have no specific complaints about the property. Charming small town. Ate at a local restaurant the first night, excellent food. The bakery is right round the corner and the bus stop is just a few minutes away. The grocery store and another bakery were within walking distance.
“Ellery's review of La Maison du Gard”
Wonderful experience. Perfect for our family and for touring the region. Beautiful interiors, spacious and well-designed. We would have a liked being in a larger, busier town with more restaurant offerings. Proximity to many sights and towns.
“Tom's review of La Maison du Gard”
This is by far the most successful house rental abroad I've ever experienced. We were all absolutely blown away by how beautiful the house was. The pictures on the Web site don't actually do it justice. The experience was absolutely perfect from start to finish and we started talking about a return visit almost from the get go! The layout of the house is very open, warm, and comfortable. The living area is extremely comfortable with three distinct and comfortable places to dine. The kitchen is very user friendly with every amenity at your fingertips. Each bedroom has its own unique style and nobody felt like they drew the short straw. The bathrooms are out of this world and the showers are a religious experience. And Ray and Christine were an absolute hoot, there when you needed them, but always giving us our privacy when needed. I can't think of a thing I didn't like about the house. I suppose the spiral staircase going from the ground floor up to the bedrooms could be a bit iffy once you'd had a few glasses of wine, but it added such a unique flair to the place I wouldn't have changed it. Caveirac is situated in the perfect locale, just on the border of Languedoc Roussillon and Provence. It offers such a wide array of towns to visit, all within under an hour's drive. Our favorites were probably the charming Sommieres, about 45 minutes northwest of Caveirac, and Les Baux, about an hour's drive to the east. Another beautiful day was our drive down the eastern side of the Camargue, with its astonishing array of wildlife. There were so many choices of beautiful places to visit that we determined we're just going to have to return again sometime soon to go to the towns nearby that we didn't have time to get to.
“Carol's review of La Maison du Gard”
Pretty close to perfect. Lovely, perfectly appointed and clean. Caveiric is a charming little town. Really nothing. The spiral stair would be an issue for an elderly person. Nimes was a pleasant surprise. Beautiful, clean, historic small city. Sommieres is a lovely little town nearby.
“Mark's review of La Maison du Gard”
In a word, "Fantastic" - the property itself was stunning and our hosts, Ray and Christine were just wonderful and so welcoming. The combined living and kitchen area was beautiful with a gorgeous stone ceiling. Nothing at all. It's a beautiful area with so much to see and do, there is something for everybody. Whether you like history or art or just lazing on a beach it's all there.
“Rod's review of La Maison du Gard”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the house. We kept imagining how great it would be to live in it year round. We loved the historical feel of the building with the exposed original stonework and the arches yet were very appreciative of the modern conveniences of the bathrooms and kitchen. We didn't have any problems. The whole region is so picturesque. We jumped out of the car many times for perfect photo opportunities. The town, Caveirac is well located and yet off the beaten path. We visited many historical locations and saw some amazing Roman ruins.
