Very Good

“Francy's review of Casa Berrettini”

A wonderfully warm and welcoming experience. The reception from Ivan, the homeowner, set the stage for 2 weeks of a truly Italian and personal experience in the city of Cortona. We fully enjoyed the kitchen and the time spent enjoying our daily cheese, bread, and meats! The views and sounds from the house will stay with us forever! Great property for a family or multiple couples. The kitchen was a definite highlight along with the great views and many windows that allowed us to enjoy the sunrise, sunsets, music from the Piazza, sounds of the city and passerbys! Wonderfully refurbished property that met our every need. Easy access to the train station which allowed us to do both day trips and short getaways to other cities.

Wonderful. Perfect for anyone who wants an in-town location. It was a short, albeit steep, walk to the main piazza. Cortona and all of Tuscany are great for exploring by car (or on foot in Cortona).

We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. We arrived late at night and were met by the owner, Ivan, who coulnd't have been more welcoming and helpful. There was a large antipasto plate with fresh bread waiting for us, fresh fruit and a tart made by his mother. What a welcome treat after a long 24 hours of travel. We loved the location and the interior. It was very roomy for 5 of us. The bathrooms were great, kitchen wonderful. We had no complaints about the bedrooms and loved the downstairs area with the cute bar. We would meet downstairs after our day trips, open the doors to let the light and air in, a sit and watch the world go by...usually people struggling up the steep hill! This property is a little piece of heaven. Ivan is wonderful and even brought homemade pesto, pasta, and the most delicious tiramasu one night when we had been out all day and were tired. We felt like we had died and gone to heaven. Very well-located for day trips. We went to Florence by train and drove to Multepulciano, Siena, Assisi, and a couple other small towns. The country side was picturesque, just as we imagined Tuscany to be. Also plenty of wineries nearby to go wine tasting.

Absolutely delightful--better than we had expected. Our owner Evan was beyond accommodating. He couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. It was charming, organized, and offered all comforts and wonderful proximity to the piazza. EVERYTHING, food, shopping, swimming, the sights, people, grocery, markets, and a wonderful arts festival.

From the moment we met the owner, we knew this was not only going to be a trip of a lifetime, we knew we found a new friend! Casa Berrettini felt like home! The special moments we created in the kitchen and around the beautiful kitchen table; the kitchen table was the heart of our vacation. We spent most evenings cooking, laughing, sharing, and eating! The neighbors are wonderful and we found the community of Cortona loving, sweet, and welcoming. We all miss Casa Berrettini, Ivan, Mama, and Cortona! Everything! The location is ideal...close to the piazza without the impact of potential crowds. The city and the residents of Cortona are so kind. As for the property, the home is warm, decorated tastefully, the views of the valley from the kitchen and the bedrooms are beautiful, the kitchen table begs you to sit around, unplug, and get back to the basics: talking, laughing, eating and sipping a yummy Brunello. The neighbors (we particularly fell in love with the neighbors son...he is so cute). I love the older man that leans out his window every day to grab a breath of fresh air or to check out the hustle of a grade-school aged soccer team. I love the fact that there's a church up the hill and down the hill...and I love the fact that it is quiet and peaceful.

Simply amazing! It's everything we had hoped for and more. Location, location, location! We could not have been more pleased with the ENTIRE experience. The town of Cortona and surrounding countryside was just as you would find in pictures. Very picturesque and romantic.

We had a wonderful time at Casa Berrettini. Three couples spent a week at the apartment. The apartment was everything we had hoped for and more--neighbourhood in the old city, restored heritage building, lovely furnishings, gracious host and with all necessary modern amenities. We spent our days exploring Cortona and touring in the area sampling many local specialities--pasta, cheese, meats, wine, olive oils--and at night returned to our little piece of paradise at Casa Berrettini. Casa Berrettini is a lovely apartment. We loved reading about the home's history and felt the restoration had been completed with care and love. The furnishings were very comfortable although we spent most of our time visiting around the huge dining room table. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our own breakfasts and evening meal--we were always out during the day.

Staying at Casa Berrettini was everything and more than we expected. The property was lovely, comfortable, and convenient. Ivan, the property owner, was incredibly hospitable and helpful. We felt so welcomed and right at home when we arrived to see a fresh torta, cookies, bread, juice, fruit, and flowers at the house. Cortona is a lovely city, and the property was so conveniently located in the heart of it all. The home was fully and comfortably appointed, and it was a great space for a family of four. The kitchen was especially well-equipped, with all necessary cookware, equipment, and utensils to cook all meals at the house, if desired. The house is on a very steep hill in the city, so there were some tough walks home after long, wine-filled dinners. The surrounding area was amazing. Cortona is a delightful city with great restaurants and shopping, including grocery, butcher, and produce markets. The views from the top of the town were spectacular. Days spent in Cortona were wonderful, and it also serves as a great base of operations for exploring other towns and wineries in Tuscany. It was an easy drive to Montepulciano and Montalcino, and a convenient train ride to Florence. On the drive up to Cortona from Rome, it was very convenient to stop and visit the cool hill town of Orvieto.

Casa Berrettini is a great place to stay and exceeded our expectations. Very well appointed, comfortable and hosted very well by Ivan, the owner. An opportunity to experience local living in a beautiful hilltop city with a long history dating back to Estruscan times. Other wonderful places such as Assisi, Arrezo and Siena quite close and easily visited by regional train. Very steep walking climb to the Villa. Decor, appointments and space. We were a group of 5 utilising the 3 bedrooms and were very comfortable. Location right in the heart of Cortona. Situated on a corner with windows facing both streets allowing lots of light and beautiful views of the valley below. Not much to criticise. The location was excellent with plenty of wonderful, historic places to visit by bus/train access such as Perugia, Assisi, Siena and Arezzo. Other small places such as Montepulciano, Moltacino and Pienza best by car. Cortona has an abundance of historic places to see all in walking distance, although on quite hilly roads.
