Very Good

“our stay felt like we was at home”

Reviewed 7 Jan 2011

My overall review is the place was actualy better than deepvillage when we came june 25,2010

“Nice Family Retreat”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2010

The home was nestled in the trees with a wonderful view into the wooded back yard. The deck was lovely in the morning. A little too hot in the afternoon and evening. We were there during a heat wave! The overall location was close to DeepCreek Lake St. Park and close to other family members that were vacationing as well. So a good location for all of us. A quiet and relaxing home for all to enjoy. The only updates I would advise would be a new mattress in the downstairs bedroom, it was lumpy, and a swimming ladder on the end of the dock.

“Enjoyable vacation as a result of the location rather than accom”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2010

Enjoyable vacation; accommodation was as expected. Would return to the area again but would seek accommodation with aC and an outdoor hot-tub. Check-in process was disappointing. Suggest that there should be a little more flexibility in the check-in time (4pm). We waited until 4pm last year and it was chaos; this year we were 40 minutes early and although the property and the keys were available the rental company lectured us about a $53 charge for early check-in. (not the best first impression).

“Lovely location, cozy home”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2009

The area around the lake is gorgeous in the fall, of course. And it really benefitted our family gathering to be able to stay together in a comfortable, well-situated home. While there are several homes very close by, the woods made the house feel very private. There is no direct lake view, but a short walk gets you to the lake, and the woods around the house are loaded with wildlife and very lovely. The interior of the home is cozy and adequately furnished for most needs. It is not new or super modern, the kitchen is small and there were several stains on the carpet upstairs, a bit of mildewed calk in the downstairs shower, etc., but it was clean, tidy and pleasantly homey inside. The upstairs is sunny, cheerful and spacious, and we liked the large deck out back. There were no complaints from anyone in our group when we stayed there. We especially all like the fact that, with several of us there, we could save a good bit of money over staying at a hotel, plus be in a lovely home together for the weekend--with plenty of comfy places to sit and talk and eat together, etc. Our stay at the Arctic Retreat was very lovely and I would recommend it highly to anyone.

“Quiet beautiful setting”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2009

We stayed in Artic Retreat for the 2nd time in May 2009, the first time being in 1998. The house was still wonderfully kept and was very peaceful despite newer townhomes being built nearby. We stayed for a weekend in the Spring, one of the few properties that will rent out for just a weekend. The kitchen is fully stocked with whatever utensils and cookware we needed for our stay. The only complaint I would have about this property is that the mattresses of all the beds need desperately to be replaced. The bedding was clean, however the mattresses are very worn and need to be replaced. The master bedroom and the nearby bedroom with 2 twin beds worked wonderfully for our children. I'd love to stay there again--hopefully after they replace the mattresses! :-)
