Very Good

“Christmas 2013 at Deep Creek”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2014

Wow, what a wonderful stay a Highland Manor! This house is absolutely beautiful and so welcoming and accommodating. We arrive on Dec. 23rd with a group of 16 family members whose ages ranged from 75 years to 9 years old. Every room in the house was picture perfect and description accurate. The eight bedrooms were beautifully decorated with king, queen or full size beds. The Great Room, with fire place, was warm, cozy, with a full view of the snowcapped trees. We came to Highland Manor with three days of food packed; our menus where for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I thought for sure there will be something that we will need when cooking that the kitchen will not have. The Highland Manor's kitchen is so fully stocked that we got through all nine meals, including Christmas dinner, without needing anything. The pool was a hit with the young and the Jacuzzi was a hit with the young at heart. And for those who did not want to get wet, they hit the eight ball in the corner pocket on the pool table. On Christmas Eve, we took to the slops at the Wisp Ski Resort which is about 5-10 minutes away. On Christmas Day, picture a Norman Rockwell sitting; the Christmas tree was lit with presents under the tree, the fireplace was crackling and the snowflakes could be seen through the Great Room's ceiling to floor picture windows. Wow, what a way to remember the Christmas of 2013. Highland Manor's location, appearance, amenities and cleanliness was so accurate that it made this rental a home away from home. It's very clear that the property is well maintained. We will definitely return to Highland Manor when we want to get away and just relax in a familiar place that feels like home. The rental process was so easy and the rental agents and owners answered every question, without hesitation. The owners of the property went out of their way to meet us, prior to renting, for a walk through of the rental property. I will be recommending Highland Manor to all my family and friends.

Highland Manor is a beautiful home nestled in the hills of a gated community in McHenry, Md and a short 2 minutes to Wisp Ski Resort. For a short drive, you will have the experience of a lifetime. For the first time in years, I was able to have a vacation with my entire family and we felt like we were at home away from home. Highland Manor is even more beautiful than what the pictures depict. Hats off to Highland Manor!!!

“Great House for a Big Family!”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2012

We vacationed with 5 couples and 10 children, and this house was perfect for this group size! Having 6 master bedrooms was definitely a great feature in this house. The kids loved the indoor pool -- the pool was small in size, but the kids didn't seem to mind. The hot tub on the deck was also a big hit. The kitchen was perfect for cooking for, and serving, a large group. The location of the house was quiet and secluded, but it was only a couple minute drive to the local activities (mountain coaster, white water rafting, Smiley's). The only downside we experienced was the a/C did not work for most of the week, and it happened to be a hot week. They came out to service it but it stopped working again the next day. We still had a great time, and we will probably vacation in Deep Creek again!

“Great Experience”

the home is really nice and loved it overall. The house had everything that we needed with regards to amenities and the location is beautiful.

“Very nice home”

Reviewed 16 Dec 2010

This house is very nice. We did have some issues with the fireplace and lack of some remote controls, but other than that, I enjoyed the stay. Very spacious and comfortable. Loved the placement of the pool table (in the great room) and the great room made for a very social event. Will definitely book this home again.

“Awesome mountain trip”

Reviewed 6 Dec 2010

We had a blast during our last trip up to Deep Creek. We loved the remote keyless entry, indoor pool and ease of check in and check out. The house was clean and the pool guys who came to check the pool and hot tub during our stay were very friendly. Will have no problem renting from Railey Mountain Lake Vacations again!

“Great Getaway!”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2010

This was my 3rd time renting with Railey Mountain Vacations and each time we've had a blast! My friends and I have done what we like to call a "Couples Retreat" for the past few years! This time my husband and I even brought our 8 month old daughter! The home was spacious, comfortable, and had all of the amentities we were looking for! The only problem was that we had to place several service calls, which was something we've never had to do before! One was required due to the fact that the hot tub began malfunctioning after only our 1st night. And the garbage disposal in the kitchen was not working properly when we initially arrived. So some of the vacation had to be interrputed so that those items could be serviced. The hot tub was really a big loss, but we managed to still have a good time! Also, I forgot to mention that my husband and I had the largest master bedroom with the jetted tub and shower, which was great! Although the fireplace sitting in the middle of our room had a huge and very unappealing hole in it! Very unusual, and I hope they manage to fix it soon! It really takes away from the beauty of the room!!!

“A disappointing visit!”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2010

This is a beautiful home! Our six grandchildren enjoyed the pool. It could have been the most enjoyable stay we have had in Deep Creek, however...We could not use the kitchen for the first day due to the smell of the stagnant water remaining in one of the dishwashers. There was a laminated sign on the dishwasher telling us not to use it, maintenance came to remove the dirty water and put bleach in it, but the smell continued throughout our stay as it is connected to a disposal and sink that we covered and could not use due to the foul odor. We could not use the charcoal grill on the deck, the grid was broken. There were cigarette and cigar butts in the container (for such) on the deck, none of us smoke. The hot tub had six jet covers missing. The wood floors were sticky and dirty. There was a swiffer with no refills to use in the kitchen, no broom and the vacuum was broke. The TV in the game room was broke, maintenance did bring a loaner. The DVD player upstairs on the main floor and the DVD player in the game room were broke, maintenance could not get them to work. The bedroom closest to the pool had bedbugs. Two of our guests were badly bit. We built a fire in the fireplace that caused the glass doors to explode. The glass shattered down onto the floor below the level we were on and some of it burned the carpeted steps because it was so hot. We were all in the living room enjoying the fire. I hate to think of what could have happened if one of us had been walking up the steps when this happened. This was very frightening. Someone could have been seriously injured. We felt terrible about the damage we had caused. There should be a warning on the fireplace that guests should not be permitted to use this fireplace!

the house was very clean and well kept. The bedrooms were large enough for my family. I also enjoyed the lay out of the house. The house location was perfect

“Needs Maintaince of the property like changing carpets”

It was good but not worth of money we were charge for the rent. Smellwas in all the rooms on the first floor. May be due to the pool. Like a basement humid smell. Carpets were dirty they need replacement.
