“Our week was calm, hectic, serene, boisterous, and perfect for e”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2012

We have stayed in Hafh 3 different years. The house is always clean and any requests we make or questions we have are answered promptly. We love staying in this particular cove because the boating traffic is limited and it is much calmer for our little ones to play in the water and try waterskiing, etc. The older adults can watch from the patio area and are close enough (and since it is ground level) feel that they are a part of the action. Some of our group always utilize the golf course, while others drive into Oakland and McHenry to the shops. Our week is never complete until the kids have blasted down the Mountain Coaster at Wisp and raced each other on the go-karts at Smiley's. Swallow Falls has also become a regular day trip in their schedule. We do a lot of our meals at Hafh, but appreciate the many choices of restaurants in the area and try to visit a few of those also. The best thing about DCL is that it has something for everyone. Each person can be as busy or as lazy as they want. Hafh is in a perfect location for our family. Our only concern with the area is the lack of consideration by other visitors in allowing their dogs to roam freely. There is a leash law in the area but no one enforces it. This would be our main concern with safety and health standards for our children. We don't want them bitten or attacked and we don't want them to have to play in a yard where people have allowed their dogs to do their business.

“Fabulous time at a fabulous house.”

Check-in was a breeze. Only wish they told us when we booked that the house was for sale which did not allow us to check in early. Planned on getting up there much earlier than we were allowed to. House however was wonderful, and would love to visit again.

“accommodating”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2010

Unfortunately, our house did not have hot water. Railey tried to get it fixed but was not able to; however, they did provide us full use of a house 2 doors down. Although it was inconvenient, it was a very nice compromise for us.

“Pleasent”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2010

I think it is in need of some maintenance. The family room floor is loose due to Ski boots being placed by the fire place to bry. Pool Ques are in bad shape. A lot of junk stored in the garage. Not many channels on the TV. A lot of weeds around the back patio. Dish washer gave us trouble twice. The CD player took one of our Cd's and you could hear it when you move the player around.

“Fullfilling for all ages!”

The house and location was great!! My husband is demanding we stay in the same area due to the Par 3 golf course and fishing. The one thing that we did miss is not haveing a pool and on our next trip we will be looking for a house that has one. We are hopeing to bring more of the family next time and if so that will make is easier to afford one of the houses in this area with a pool.

“A Wonderful Vacation!”

About the house "Home away From Home" - *Excellent location on quiet cove with a flat yard, *Beautifully furnished (added bonus: no knick-knacks everywhere to worry about the kids breaking them), *2 queen bedrooms upstairs very small, *The rest of the house is extremely spacious. *Kitchen could use some more pots and pans when cooking for large groups. *Beautiful quiet neighborhood with large lots, fishing pond, golf course. Deep Creek State Park is just a quick drive away. About the cleanliness - *Under couches had not been vacuumed, a line of ants was marching toward crumbs. We vacuumed upon our discovery of this. *Large piece of glass from a bottle was found in front of fridge, *Counters, kitchen, and bathrooms were otherwise clean. About Railey Mountain Rental Office - *Extremely helpful when booking and every time I called before our vacation, *Super quick check-in took about 2 minutes. Was expecting a long line due to our arrival time, but there was no line and no wait, *Super quick Curbside check-out. Awesome!!! Didn't even have to take the kids out of the car. We will definitely rent from Railey again and again!

“HomeAwayFromHome was a great place to spend the week”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2009

The service we received was great. We only had one issue which was with the hot tub and it was taken care of very quickly. The home was very spacious but some of the interior work was a little shoddy and not up to my expectations that I would have if I were the home owner, but as a renter for a week it was fine. We loved the location. Golf course was a huge hit with some of the family members. Being in a more secluded area of the lake was very nice since we have children and the amount of water traffic was limited. The size of the kitchen was fantastic and allowed all ten of us to be in the kitchen working together without feeling crowded. Can't wait until July 2010!
