“Dcl Fun!”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2012

This was this group's fourth annual fall visit to DCL, and the second time we've used Railey Mountain Lake Vacations. This property was very nice, clean, well stocked, and exactly as advertised on the different DCL websites (FlipKey, Railey Mountain, etc.). The house is well laid out with plenty of community space as well as bedrooms. We loved the sun-filled loft! We had 16 people total and there was plenty of room for everyone. The lake front and dock was great, and visiting on a random weekend in October always ensures that it will not be as crowded. We were a little bit disappointed that the house was located in such a populated cul de sac quite close to the main road and what seemed to be year-round residences. Our past properties have been a bit further off of the beaten path and even quieter because they're usually surrounded by other vacation homes that are uninhabited. It was still quiet and private enough, but we'll look for something in a slightly different location next year. Overall, great value when you have a large number of people and the layout and amenities are very charming and comfortable. We wished we could stay longer!

“Nice, but loud house.”

Reviewed 31 Jan 2011

Very comfortable, great location & furnishings. One problem: house is very loud. There appears to be no sound insulation at all. Floors creak with nearly every step, conversations in the kitchen are easily heard in the bedrooms below. Lower level bedrooms are cold.

“Great location, overpriced house.”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2010

We were penalized for early reservation, weekly rate was decreased over $900 after our reservation was paid in full, no consideration was provided by rebate, late check-out or other compensation. Water heater failed two days in a row, fixed quickly but, again, no consideration for our inconvenience. Tidied up and vacated premises for real estate agent to show house at designated time, agent never showed; once again, no consideration was provided for this overpriced rental.

“Stove”

Reviewed 26 Feb 2010

Our stay was nice. When we called for a service guy, he was unable to fix everything. Melody was supposed to call and check up on how our issues were being handled but we never heard from anybody buy the fix-it guy. The issue we had was our Oven was broke down all weekend and Furnace was broke down for the first day. The Furnace wasn't a big deal because we were able to start a fire and warm up the living room until the furnace was fixed. The oven cost us unexpected money. There are 3 families that come down and stay at "Lakes End" every year. The women plan out all the dinners for the 3 nights we are there... The 3 dishes we normally prepare require an oven. As you can imaging, the children were excited because we had to leave the home and eat at a restaurant every night. Feeding 18 people was a very big expence that we wasn't planning on, not to mention all the food that we took went to waste. Next year we will have the food frozen and prepare it at the home instead of bringing everything ready to cook. We will be back next year but hope everything is correct.

“Short of expectations!”

Reviewed 18 Feb 2010

This is our second visit to Deep Creek and last year was awesome! This year we visited during one of the blizzards of 2010. As I know this brought on some issues of its own I will not discuss them. We arrived to find the kitchen in the property very dirty. The remainder of the home was actually very clean. The master bedroom on the first floor the bed was not sleepable. The frame had colapsed onto the floor. We spent time digging thru the wood pile to find chunks of wood to try to use the bedroom. Since we had a large no of people traveling with us we were counting on using the oven. The oven did not work and we could not get to the store to buy different items to fix because the roads were impassable. The dishes were dirty and there was mouse droppings in all of the cabinets and on the kitchen items. We spent hours washing dishes just to use them for the weekend. Not what we had intended. There was no hot water Sat and Sunday until we dug out the owners manual and spent yet another hour or two trying to get hot water. I could go on but you get the picture. My biggest dissapointment was actually with Railey Mountain Rentals. They could not send anyone for repairs or snow removal - too much snow. Could not offer us any suggestions because they were closed Friday night and had no service people come to work on Saturday. We were left on our own. The net result of this disasterous stay was a discount of $50.00 on a return visit. Eventually they agreed to $50.00 cash credit since I will not be returning. They layout of this property is great and you do not run over top of each other with the three floors. Also if you are planning on this property take note that most of the tv's have VCR's not DVD players. Just seems a little odd in this day and age.

“Awesome place for a reunion”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2009

There was plenty of room for everyone, the kitchen was spacious, Uno's is a stone's throw away, Wisp was close. Everyone enjoyed the hot tube and pool table.

“House for Sale”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2009

Not sure my review will help anyone. It is currently for sale. The home itself under the current owners is very spacious and comfortable. It worked perfect for 2 families staying under the same roof. 3 bedrooms on the upper level, 4 bedrooms on the bottom level and one bedroom on the main level. Weather was too bad to use the firepit or dock.
