“Peaceful retreat”

Reviewed 22 Jun 2012

My family rented this place with two other couples for a spring/summer getaway. The house is quiet and comfortable and had plenty of room for the 7 of us. The pictures on the website are actually a little outdated. All of the rooms had nice new linens and there is a trundle bed where we thought there was going to be a futon (nice surprise, since that's where our 4 year old would be sleeping). The location is great- right on the lake. It's a little walk down to the lake, but all the houses on that side are up on a hill. We took our coffee down to the floating dock and enjoyed it there- great way to spend the morning. And the hot tub was fantastic at night. The kitchen is a little dated, but perfectly functional and well stocked with dishes, pots, etc. Also it looked like the basement bedroom had been re-done. We were planning not to use that room because of the prior reviews on here, but it was fine. The house comfortably sleeps 8, and the trundle on the top floor is good for kids. All in all it was a lovely week and we plan to stay there again next year.

“Marsh Hill Challet -very outdated and small”

Reviewed 5 Jan 2011

This is our 3rd time renting houses for a short vacation. We always rented lake front 4-bedroom houses. The price per family (4 families with little kids) was always around $300 for 3-night stay. The last house Marsh Challet had perfect location - close to skiing and front lake. This is it. The house itself was small (compared to prior rentals), very outdated, pretty worn out (carpets very dirty, appliances very old, door knobs were hardly working, basement bedroom panels were warped due to wetness and seemed to have mold), cleaning was not done very well (basement bedroom had spider webs in the corners). It would be very usefull to show actual square footage of the houses when advertising. I would not recomend this particular house unless the company is small and they do not spend much time inside. The only big plus of the house is its location.

“That weekend rocked!!!”

Reviewed 30 Sep 2010

We had such a great weekend! It was a bunch of girls I played softball with and their significant others. The place was clean and had tons of space for all of us. Just spread everyone's showers out. (Only downfall not enough hot water). But we loved the hot tub and the view was beautiful from the dock (specially at dawn and at sunset) We even got to see the next door neighbors do a beautiful wedding at lakefront. It was so quiet and peaceful. We got to spend a great day at wisp resort. Wish we could have stayed longer. My husband and I are trying to get the family to do a Deep Creek week instead of a beach week this summer.

“wonderful place”

Loved the set up and the home was exactly what we wanted as far as wood throughout the house the layout was perfect for us. The location is perfect secluded but still close to what you need. Overall a very nice place to stay

“Great location and value”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2010

The home is located on Marsh Hill Rd. Very convenient to get to. Lake location is perfect and the water is generally smoother here than the central part of the lake. Home is well laid out and adequate in size. Hot tub, downstairs bar, and nice size deck. Cons are the dock was loaded with goose poop and the only one in the area uncleaned. Cob webs and dust could be found throughout the house TV in basement had terrible reception. Bottom line is good value for the location as long as you are willing to pardon the dust.

“Disappointed”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2010

We found the home to be nice and the bathrooms were clean. The basement was so damp and musty that the bedroom and family downstairs was not habitable. When we called the management, they brought down a dehumidifier and that helped, but there was nobody in our group that wanted to stay down there as the smell never went away. And, I have to say, when you pay extra to have a lake front cabin, somewhere in the ad, it would be honest to mention that the lake is lovely, but the rocks and weeds and broken bottles on the "beach" will really prevent many from entering the lake for a swim. The lake is nice, but it is a lakefront that is not suitable for swimming, and when you rent lake front, most people would presume you could comfortably enter the water from the edge -- or beach -- if there were one. The dock is handy, but renting a boat would have been several hundred more dollars per day, and we did not do that. Sadly, this is a good place for a ski trip, provided you did not need the basement for sleeping.

“Great Ski Getaway!”

Reviewed 18 Feb 2010

This location is excellent for a convenient trip to Wisp. The house has a great layout and we utilized everything from the basement to the loft. We had so much snow that we could not enjoy the whole property. This is not a complaint, but simply a reason for us to go back in the summer! Be careful of the driveway - as many of them are in this area, it is STEEP. With all of the snow and ice, we almost got stuck at the bottom. Service - Unfortunately, the reservations office gave us the wrong keys, which made for a bumpy arrival. They did correct it over the phone with the correct key code. It also would have been a good idea to leave some sand for the driveway.
