“Great vacation!”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2012

We had a great week at "A Pirate's Paradise" We loved the house, layout, pool---everything! We would love to come back again!

“Wonderful”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2012

A Pirates Paradise is a truly beautiful home that was enjoyed by 5 teenagers and 4 adults. The layout of the home, including the 4 bedrooms with their own baths was a plus as well as the game room, bunk room, pool and hot tub. It was close enough to walk to the beach using the sandy path and if you chose to drive the parking area was ample. The kids enjoyed riding bikes to Monterey Shores to play basketball. We have booked a return week again for 2013. If you stay here you will not be disappointed.

“The House itself was wonderful”

Reviewed 16 May 2012

The house was very nice and it was comfortable. I was taken back by neighbors and hospitality of people in the area though. Upon arrival with my five children, husband and my parents, (house sleeps 14) the neighbor next door(lives there full year) makes a point of coming over and basically telling us that being quiet is important in this area and made us feel completely unwelcome on day 1. I had this same feeling from everyone in the shops except the Corolla Coffee Shop, the owner there was the only pleasant person in the area. I felt like I had to shush my kids the whole vacation and keep things under wraps by 8:30 at night. And my family is well behaved, I loved the beach and loved the scenery...the house was nice, well stocked and nice to be in but I would not return to NC due to the hospitality. You would think in a tourist area that relies on our money for income, folks would want to entice you back. That was not the case here and had we like this trip it was going to become our annual vacation. Now I think we will check out Va beach or the coast of me.

“Solid House for the Money”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2010

We have been going to the OBX for several years now and we found this house to be somewhat comparable to most of what we rented so far. The house was clean and in a relatively quiet location. I was surprised to find another house in the back yard since you don't see that from the satellite photos. The other must be a newer home. So keep that in mind if you think that you'll have complete backyard privacy. The rooms were spacious and with 14 people overall we never felt too crowded. The video game in the rec room was a big hit, more for the adults than the kids. Although the wet bar in there lacked any utensils and glasses. I would say the pros are: Gas Grill (with line gas feed, no tank), Spaciousness, Cleanliness, Decent TV and entertainment center (although figuring out how to use everything took some doing), Keyless entry, decent pool, volleyball, direct path to the beach in the back yard, Whalehead beach. The cons: Outdoor speakers for pool didn't work too well, no utensils or glasses, etc. in the wet bar. The kitchen lacked some of the goodies that a well equipped kitchen would have. For instance only one bottle opener for the whole house. The walk to beach is about 5 minutes. However on a hot day it seems longer. The house itself could use a good power washing. The outdoor furniture needs repair, and replacement. Not to mention they need more of it. All in all it's not a bad choice for the discounted shoulder season rates. One of the reasons we chose this was because of the use of Monterey Shores Club, so keep that in mind if you want a gym, basketball, tennis, etc. I like Outer Banks Blue, keyless entry, early entry option, linens and towels. Their rates are reasonable too. In fact I just booked a different house with them again for next year!

“Great Beach Home”

We really enjoyed staying at a Pirates Paradise. Very clean and everything that we expected from the advertising.

“August 2009 stay”

Reviewed 10 Oct 2009

We had a great time at Pirate's Paradise. House is well equipped with lots of room for everyone. Poolside was great -- lots of sun throughout the day. Favorite escape was the hammock on the second level deck! Highly recommended. BTW...try to arrive in the area early to avoid the crazy traffic going up to Corolla.

“Pirate's Paradise - A paradise vacation!”

Reviewed 31 Jul 2009

We had a wonderful stay and the home is amazing! Well equipped and centrally located between Corolla Light and Whalehead - we biked, played, hot-tubbed, and got sand between our toes! Thank you for this incredible week! The Dusci Family

“A nice place to send away from home......”

Reviewed 17 Dec 2008

The Pirates Paradise is a charming experience very close to the beach and located in Corolla,N.C. I spent an entire week there over the Thanksgiving break. The house is very comfortable and has everything that you need to have a very pleasant get away. I would most definately return. Enjoyed my stay.

“Very Nice Property”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2008

Very nice, well maintained property. Loved the Pacman (& friends) machine in the gameroom. Nice decorating, woodwork, kitchen table can accomodate 10+ comfortably. Only complaint was that we thought it would be a little closer to beach, but no big deal. Highly recommended.

“Great house- great vacation in paradise”

Reviewed 7 Oct 2008

We spent a great week at A Pirate's Paradise. The house is well equipped and comfortable- home away from home. Lots of bedrooms & bathrooms. The pool was beautiful (a little cold in Sept/Oct). The hot tub was wonderful- especially after all of the exploring we did. Fantastic view of sunsets over the sound from the Great Room. Stargazing was amazing from all of those decks! Great location close to ocean & sound plus shops & restaurants. The WIFI was awesome. No housekeeping or maintenance issues during our stay. We visited 4 of the lighthouses on the Outer Banks (Currituck, Bodie Island, Hatteras, & Okracoke). THe Wright Brothers Monument is a must. We visited the Elizabethan Gardens & Ft. Raliegh on Roanoke Island. We took 2 half-day fishing trips (one out of Oregon Inlet and the other out of Pirates Cove)-although we didn't have much to show for it we had fun. Of couse we had great food out at restaurants (Mama Kwan's, Dirty Dick's & Jolly Roger are the best). The house has a great kitchen to cook. Everyone loved the fresh fish (the 1 blue that we caught had to be supplemented with some locally caught fish from Dockside North right down the road from the house). We drove up the 4x4 beach one afternoon with a picnic lunch from Corolla Market and Deli (great sandwiches). It went by so fast- vacations in paradise always do. Can't wait for next time.
