Description
St Margaret's Cottage is a charming, historic holiday cottage set in and old fashioned garden. It provides self-catering accommodation in the conservation village of Coldingham. Great for walkers, bird watchers, golfers, fishermen and those who just want to enjoy staying in a cosy period property with every possible comfort.
The recently renovated property provides peace and quiet in a secluded location and is only a mile away from the stunning sandy beach at Coldingham Bay.St Abb's nature reserve, famous for its bird life and cliff top scenery is just over a mile from the Cottage.
St Margaret's Cottage is over 100 years old with a host of original features, and has recently been sympathetically restored and refurbished to a very high standard by the present owners to provide clean, comfortable and cosy holiday accommodation. The cottage has a " blue plaque" as it was the home of a writer who found it just the right place to pen his novels which even Tolstoy found excellent.
There are two Pubs in the village, 5 minutes walk away, The wide variety of nearby attractions and things to see and do, makes St Margaret's Cottage ideal for a wide range of visitors, from couples seeking a romantic retreat to fishing and shooting parties.

Response from the manager Thanks for this very kind review. I see that the only thing that you didn’t like was reversing out of the curving driveway. Some other guests have commented on this. But it’s a country cottage so we can’t change the landscape.i reverse in, its downhill and much easier! Malcolm

Response from the manager The gardener was there when these two ladies arrived. He said that there was a bad atmosphere between them. They really didn’t want to stay. He apologised for the fact that the housekeeper had been delayed but said that the cottage would be done within the hour. They could leave their luggage and take a walk, or just sit in the kitchen and make a cup of tea. But they just left and demanded their money back plus travelling expenses! We wouldn’t want them again.

“St. Margarets cottage Coldingham”
Lovely cottage, clean, quaint and very private and quiet. Not keen on low ceilings in bedroom cause we keep banging our heads. That may be our problem cause getting out of bed during night you are not thinking about ceilings. If you want a peaceful, quiet time I fully recommend t this.

Response from the manager Jerry, many thanks for your very kind review. Yes, some people do hate reversing out of a drive but we always reverse in, which is downhill. Otherwise cars can be left 20 metres up the lane, so then no reversing. Berwickshire is empty of traffic, not even any traffic lights anywhere near us! Malcolm
