“Trailview 1”

Reviewed 21 Jan 2017

I want to rate this place higher because it was clean, however, if you look around it's apparent this place is literally falling apart. It has a funky smell, the exterior is rotting, there was a dead mouse in the basement that may have left the lingering smell. The kitchen was not even remotely stocked for the advertised ability to accommodate 8 people. The beds were like cement, blankets were super old and dingy. The couches had to be covered in sheets to sit on and good god, the one television in the place was a tube from about 2000. Seriously? If you want to charge people $2k for 6 nights, stock the place and spend $300 on a decent tv and go buy a new couch every 5 years for a couple hundred bucks. Considering the surrounding community has nothing to offer and all activity seems to be on the ski hills shoulders and they close at 4, I wouldn't go back. Not for the ridiculous prices. A lift ticket is $65 and the half day is $60. Really? $60?

Response from the manager We're sorry to hear that you weren't pleased with your stay. It is stated in the description of this particular unit that it is dated yet has a cozy atmosphere. Each homeowner has their own taste and how they decorate and furnish their unit is their prerogative, I'm sorry that it did not match your personal preference. As far as ski hill lift ticket prices we have nothing to do with what they choose to charge. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

“Awesome winter getaway!”

Reviewed 12 Feb 2014

We were so pleased with the Trailview 1 chalet. We had six adults and there was plenty of room for all of us. The living room was spacious and welcoming, and the fireplace was awesome (almost too hot sometimes!!) The kitchen is very well stocked with anything and everything you would need, plus there is a dishwasher!! The dining area was a nice size and fit six adults with room to spare. We enjoyed meals and games here. The bedrooms were huge, with room for all of our clothes/gear. The master bedroom has an awesome view and a balcony for viewing or taking pictures of the mountain. The upstairs bathroom has a shower stall, a little tight, but adequate. The downstairs bathroom is a full bath/shower. Downstairs there is a sauna which could easily seat 4-5 adults and a hot tub big enough for 6 adults. The hot tub room could be a little better ventilated, but other than that, was wonderful. Our family liked that the hot tub and sauna was for us only and not shared. Plenty of towels were given for both showering and the hot tub/sauna area. Mid way through the visit, more towels were brought to our chalet along with a visit from the maintenance person to check the hot tub. Also, loved the perk of the shuttle picking us up and dropping us off anywhere in Big Powderhorn Village. Never had to wait very long for the shuttle to pick us up from anywhere. Would recommend this property highly and will definitely be coming back again.

Response from the manager Thank you for a very detailed and wonderful review! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again in the future!

“Very nice, comfortable stay at Big Powderhorn!”

Reviewed 30 Jan 2013

My family and I stayed 6 nights in Trailview 1 and, like most "chalets" in the area, it is rustic with older decor. The stay was pleasant and the home is generally comfortable. We cooked most breakfast meals and a couple of dinners successfully but the kitchen could be better stocked with bowls, pans, etc. used for cooking. The gas-powered heater stove in the living area was key during such a cold time in the up. Bedrooms were comfortable and the entire chalet was very clean and well-kept. The location could not have been better, being just across from the main lodge at Big Powderhorn. Unfortunately, there were several things that did impact our stay somewhat - paramount among these was the hot tub/spa located in the basement. While it was clean, functional, and well-heated, the room in which it is located is just slightly bigger than the spa itself and it is not well ventilated, despite an exhaust fan; this led to most of the members of my family experiencing breathing difficulties and problems with irritation of our eyes from all the vaporized chlorine not being able to escape. We could only stay in the hot tub for about 15 minutes and we eventually left and never went back into it, which was upsetting as we enjoy time in hot tubs. Besides that, the rest of the stay was pleasant. Minor problems included a very small upstairs shower and blinds in the master bedroom that need repair so they can be opened. Overall, a nice stay but some updating would make the chalet much more appealing and encourage repeat visits.

“kid free weekend”

the booking fee seems like an excessive fee, if you book at any motel/hotel, there are not extra fees for choosing them. we like the hill and the convenience of having a house like enviroment, but we did choose your mountain instead of any other local place to ski, and feel that the additional fee isn't right.

“Fabulous!”

Reviewed 19 Jan 2011

The location and condition of the unit were fabulous; close to the hill, clean and had all the amenities needed for a comfortable week's stay. Seeing the hill from the bedroom was an awesome way to wake up every morning. Already looking forward to next year!

“This place is great!”

We have been renting for 9 years and this is the best place yet! We definitely will rent this unit again - it was perfect. The kitchen and dining room are so nice and having the breakfast bar made it easy to get everyone going in the morning!

“SKIING FUN!!!”

Reviewed 17 Feb 2010

We had a great trip. Filled with fun, laughter, and of course skiing. We came with some family that have never been to Big Powderhorn, they had a great time and nothing but good things to say! Trailview 1 was a wonderful place to stay, very well kept. The remodeled basement was beautiful; the hot tub was the perfect thing after a long day of skiing! The service all week from rentals, to lodging, and restaurants was wonderful. My fiance have been to Big Powderhorn two years in a row now and have loved our time there, and hope to continue to vacation there year after year. Thanks!

“Excellent”

This hill was excellent. Was a great hill for the somewhat experienced skiier but a little tough for a beginner to learn on. The new night skiing was wonderful but, wish they would open a couple more runs. Staying in one of the lodges is definately recommended. Everyone I was with loved the spacious accomodations. The Hot Tub in Trailview was very nice but we could not find the thermostat and it was a little hot. The rooms were nice and big. Everything was clean and the fire place was a great thing to come back to after the full day of skiing. Prices were a little high but not the worst around. I am definately looking forward to going back in a few years.
