“Comfortable and Good Amenities”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2009

The house itself was very nice. The refrigerator had condensation on the floor. The misquotes were pretty bad on the deck. It will be very nice when the deck is screened in. The location near south beach was great and the choice of music was an unexpected bonus. Overall we were pleased. The return on the deposit could have been a little faster. Rick and Betsy

“Lovely little home”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2009

Stayed there 1st week of August, 2009. It was warm on the Vineyard, so the living room air-conditioner was great to have. Nicely appointed--nothing fancy, but comfortable. Really great for the readers out there--library was enormous. Lots of great music as well. Everything you would want for a small family---full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, fans, washer/dryer. Although it is not listed on Sandcastle, they do have linens/towels you can use--I'm not sure if there is enough for all beds, as we had already rented some. Nice little deck--we didn't use the grill, so no comments there except there was one. Its located in Katama, and is an easy drive or bike to the beach. The family traveling with us rented the house next door and they were very comfortable as well. Overall a great trip, and a nice little house to stay in.

“Wonderful Location, Wonderfully Appointed Home”

Reviewed 7 May 2009

This was a great house, in a great location. I believe the summer I rented was the owner's first year and they indicated there were still improvements they wanted to make, perhaps by now they've been made. Issues I had included the house being too overcrowded by nearby trees, especially side deck--had a lot of overhanging trees (too shady, tree-matter, etc. dropping onto food. Perhaps they've been pruned back by now (more sunlight, less dampness) Also, although house sleeps 6, living room furniture consisted only of 2 "easy chairs" and a single fouton-type "chair". 6 people would not be able to sit in LR and relax, watch tv, etc. Again, perhaps this has been remedied as well. Otherwise, kitchen well appointed, beds comfortable, lots of room for guests to sleep (great upstairs bedrooms, though spiral staircase might be tricky for small children) I loved being able to open the skylights to keep house cool. Loved being so close to Morning Glory Farm, quick drive to Edgartown. Great launching point for travel to any part of the island.

Response from the manager Since 2007, the living room has been more or less completely reconfigured, including a new hardwood floor, gas stove for heat in the shoulder seasons, and a light sofa/futon that easily seats 3, plus two easy chairs and a rocking chair which we'll probably make available for the summer. the owner's concern was that he didn't want to overload the living room with furniture. Trimming of the trees is ongoing!
