We loved the lake in the back yard! The location was nice for walking, could get to beach and restaurants within minutes. The unit as a whole needed minor repairs. The WiFi did not work.Painting on the inside around door frames chipped , lighting on the porch and entrance door needed. Water did not drain well in tub. Foam used for topper on mattress not encased. This and the backed up tub drain is enough to make us look elsewhere first for a return visit. Also couldn't find a place to write a review on realtor page.
Response from the manager Thank you for your feedback on this unit. While we are saddened to hear there are some maintenance issues that need to be addressed, we appreciate you bringing these items to our attention so we may follow up with maintenance and the owner.
There were no grab bars in the bath tub shower - the washer and dryer were OK - the dish washer was OK - the disposal and the sink drain in the kitchen needed attention -
“Destiny Beach Villas”
This is a lovely property with super conveinent access to the beach! The pond in the back is an added bonus to see the turtles and fish in the pond. Destin is a lovely area and if you love the beach the amount of time you may spend "IN" the unit is limited so the price is worth it.
“Do not stay here”
We had units 14 a and B Destiny Beach Villas in July 2013. We have stayed at this complex many times and really enjoy the location and the pools. Both of the kitchens were very well supplied in these units. In unit B the yellow chair has rips in it, the hall bathroom needs to be cleaned and re-caulked. Beware of the numerous palmetto bugs(look up what these really are) that like to come to visit in the evening. There are also large stains on the carpets in each bedroom that have been there for quite awhile according to the comments in the guest book. In unit a the carpets need a good cleaning and we encountered ants on the kitchen counter which the realty company did come out to spray in a timely manner. In both units the walls and floors need a good through cleaning and repainting. Most of the windows need to be replaced, the seals seem to be broken, so you can see out of them and enjoy the view of the lake in the back. The outside chairs also need to be replaced to be able to sit in them. The blinds are broken and several can not be opened or closed as the strings are broken. This owner needs to consider the renters that will go elsewhere if the units are not cleaned up and they receive repeated bad reviews.
Response from the manager Hi Mr. and Mrs. Barchok! Thank you for taking the time to email us regarding your experience while staying with us at Destiny Beach Villas. It is most unfortunate that we were unable to have some of the items in the unit repaired prior to your arrival. I see that the carpeting and furniture truly do need to be addressed based on your description of their condition. I am so sorry about the chair and the staining on the carpet in the rooms. Regrettably, those large palmetto bugs are quite frequently seen in our area given the amount of rain we have experienced recently. I thank you for your kind comments regarding our service when you called about the ants and the kitchen sinks. Your email will help me in discussing the need for these things during our off season unit condition inspections this year. I can assure you that these units are not indicative of our other rental units. We need our guests feedback so that we can be sure to contact owners when their units are in need of updating or improvements. That is why your email is so valuable to us. In some cases an owner may try to make small adjustments to get through a busy summer season, but without the feedback provided by our guests, they do not know if those adjustments helped or not. And for this, I truly thank you. I ask that you give Dale E Peterson Vacations another opportunity to improve upon this experience and win your loyalty to stay with us in the future. Please contact me personally so that I can help. Thank you again, for the time you have taken to discuss this with us. Most Sincerely, Andie Hamilton
“Great Location, could be cleaner”
I was a little surprised at the cleanliness upon arrival. There is a separate charge from the rental fee to pay for a cleaning service. I'm not sure who they hired but I would look seriously at hiring someone else. The return vent for the a/C was filthy! There were smudges (sticky fingers from little ones?) on many of the pictures and the walls, and stains on the furniture. Two of the three back windows looks like they lost the seal between the panes of glass and were completely fogged up which blocks the beautiful view of the lake. The toilet bowl in the master bedroom was also dirty and the shower curtain was stained. None of this was a deal breaker, I just wished I had seen it in a review before I booked the condo. I was a little embarrassed because (my husband and I) brought my mother-in-law and I think she was really disappointed in the condo. If it had just been the two of us I wouldn't have judge the condo so harshly, but it made us look cheap. A couple of other things...(not a complaint, just an FYI) make sure you bring your own toilet paper, kleenex, paper towels, and hand soap. They give you a roll of toilet paper per bathroom, a roll of paper towels, and a bar of soap for each bathroom. We were surprised that there was no salt and pepper in the kitchen...we figured this out after making eggs one morning, so grab a few packets at a fast food place before you cook anything. On a good note, the condo was quiet at night and there was even a mandatory quiet time from 10pm to 8am. It was only 100 yards or so to the public beach. There was even a tunnel running under the road so that you didn't have to play chicken crossing the road. There were 3 beach chairs left in the condo (probably from another family) that we took to the beach with us. There were also beach chair rentals on the beach ($35/day for 2 chairs and an umbrella)...quite steep if you ask me so we were really glad to have the chairs here. The pool was nice as well, it was cleaned every am/
An awesom condo, offering all the comforts of home, w/ wonderful views of the bay out back w/ fish & turtles, plus a short hop to the beach across the street.
“Always enjoyable, we have been coming here for years”
We always enjoy Destiny Beach Villas and Dale Peterson. The service and condos are always nice. My only suggestion is that the decor is getting outdated and dirty!
The unit was very clean and well supplied the location was easy to beach and pond behind unit was great feature. I will look for unit in this location again. The only issue the door lock code didn't work untill we called office 2x to get different door code. We requested a early check in time but had to call office to get access. Other than that very good stay!! Good value.
“Great place to relax”
My family had a great vacation on Memorial Day Weekend at Destiny Beachside Villas. We are planning another weekend on Memorial Day in 2009. Wyatt Caruthers
