Description

Montalto is a true medioeval castle located in the beautiful Chianti region of Tuscany, near Siena. The owners live here all year round and offer the houses of the little hamlet as vacation villa rentals.

There are four 2-bedroom villas for rent, each suitable for 4 people:'Casa di Giocche', 'La Fattoria', 'San Giovanni Est', 'San Giovanni Ovest'.

GIOCCHIE is situated just inside the old entrance tower, near the castle walls and looking out over the valley. It islocated on the first floor, over storage room, and is composed by: Living-dining room with fireplace and view over the garden; kitchen; bedroom A with queen-size bed (can be converted to twins on same headboard), Bedroom B with twin beds (can be united as a queen), both with lovely views; bathroom with shower over tub.

FATTORIA is located above the reception, with access via a flight of stairs from the castle courtyard. It is composed by: living room with fireplace and kitchen/dining area; bedroom A with queen-size bed; bedroom B with twin beds and antique wash stand; bathroom with shower over tub and washing machine.

SAN GIOVANNI EST and WEST are ground-floor apartments of a two storey house. They are part of the San Giovanni building, which is the most recently remodeled at Montalto. They are composed as follows: two steps to entry; living/dining room with kitchen area; bedroom A with queen-size bed and en-suite bathroom (shower over tub); Bedroom B with twin beds and en-suite bathroom (shower only).

Bedding is set up as one queen bed and two singles, but can usually be changed to either 2 queens or 4 singles upon request.

Our guests share the use of a swimming pool, tennis court, bocce ball court, wireless internet (fee), music room, reading room, ping-pong, bicycles, laundry facilities and private garden areas. Enjoy the independence of a self-catering villa with all the advantages of a concierge's assistance.

The area of Tuscany around Montalto Castle is beautiful and peaceful but also very rich in history, art, good food and good wine. It is near Siena in Tuscany, with good roads to reach all major Tuscan art towns and villages as well as part of neighboring Umbria. With its rich past dating back over one thousand years, the castle provides a truly unique setting for your vacation in Tuscany.

Normal rental is from Saturday to Saturday but exceptions will be made; further discounts are available for long rentals. Cooking, housekeeping and childcare are available separately.

Response from the owner Thank you for telling us! Guardia is one of the first houses we refurbished, about 25 years ago. Nobody ever told me before that the beds had done their time. They have since been replaced - and would have been right away if you had let us know while you were here!
