“Needs repair”

Reviewed 8 Jun 2017

Pros Close to beach Stocked well with dishes, towels etc. Easy check in and out. Cons Ants in kitchen on counters Ants in bathrooms and in living room. (I had to spray the whole place before we brought our stuff in) Carpets very dirty Walls need to be cleaned and painted Holes in walls very big one by front door. I wanted to really like this place but we really couldn't get comfortable because of the dirty carpet and the ants and the walls are in a real need of paint.

“great vacation spot”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2013

We had an amazing trip to Oceanside. Sandy Vacations was very easy to deal with. I called a couple of times prior to making the reservation and Sandy was very helpful. The online reservation system was easy to use. The directions for accessing unit upon arrival were easy to follow and we had no hitches at all. We had a 5 star vacation. North Coast Village is an amazing place. The pool and hot tub we great, the grounds were well kept and beautiful, and best of all you walked out of the complex to the beach. To expound on my ratings a little the unit itself has a great layout. The second floor balcony provides a nice view of the ocean and is a great place to sit in the morning with a cup of coffee. The unit is a bit dated, but we were not looking for top of line furniture and appliances, everything was very functional. My only suggestion would be to get new carpet and a coat of paint. I only say this because the light colored carpet showed many stains in the carpet that made it look dirty. The walls, also light colored, showed many scuffs and marks. However the unit was clean and organized upon our arrival and we had no issues with anything inside. We did read some reviews about the train noise but it didn't really bother us. Yes you can hear the train and the building is the closest to the tracks, but again we got used to it pretty quick. Overall the unit worked out perfect for us, but I added these comments hopefully to give a helpful review to those looking to stay here. We would not hesitate to stay here again and are actually trying to plan to trip to come back next year. If the carpet and paint are addressed the star ratings can only go up.

“Conflicted”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2010

Description on "Home away" website indicated washer/dryer in kitchen - although facilities on-site, they were not in the unit. This was a huge factor in our selection since we had small children with us and this would have been a great convenience. Also, it would have been nice to have been forewarned that not only was train track nearby, but that it was directly across the street and the trains ran very often - even late at night and very early in the morning. With no air conditioning, the windows needed to be opened and the train was very loud...none of us got much sleep that week. We found the condo to be relatively nice, but the "back splash" on the stove was greasy, and the cookie sheet in the oven had enough grease left on it that it spilled when we took it out of the oven. Towels were an issue - we had 4 each including beach towels for a family of six (2 of which were children) staying a week...this was rectified with a phone call which we greatly appreciated. Although people were in the parking lot for check in upon our arrival, they were very hasty with their instructions and not especially helpful...we were the only ones checking in at the time so they weren't rushed.

“Everything mediocre”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2010

The resort was overall nice (flowers looked great) but old as well as the condo. All furnitures and appliances were old and some not very well cleaned. There is no washing machine (for laundry) in the condo and the ones downstairs are very old and not functioning well. Not very friendly personnell and no cleaning provided for the condo for a full week. The condo was located in the back of the resort and it was very noisy (from the streat and train- very close) but this info was not available on line (or provided on the phone by Sandy). I think for the quality of the place (mediocre) the price was very high and I will not recomend the location (or the agency) to any of my friends.

Response from the manager We are disappointed to receive this feedback after the guest's departure. If we received a phone call during their stay we would have been happy to resolve the issues within our control. It appears this may be the guest's first time staying in a 'vacation rental'. Please remember 'vacation rentals' do not provide daily maid service however a coin-operated laundry room is conveniently located down the elevator. This property has been advertised as such for over 10 years and boasts a 4 Star Rating with many happy return guests! This property has an amazing ocean view and is located on a white sandy beach with no streets to cross or cliffs to climb down. The ‘coaster’ runs the entire coastline from Los Angeles to San Diego and adds another transportation option to Southern California attractions.

“Memorial Day Getaway”

Had a great time, wonderful location and very spacious. We enjoyed both the beach and the pool facilities. Also had great restaurants in walking distance.

“Great View”

Reviewed 4 Feb 2010

The place was great, and the view was fantastic from the upper desk...It was difficult to get to, and the lack of a cart to haul all the suitcases and grocery bags upstairs was a real bummer. I enjoyed the stay, but getting in and getting out was a lot of work.

Response from the manager Thank you for this feedback, we will consider purchasing a cart to assist with groceries.

“Great Time”

Reviewed 8 May 2009

This is the first time that we stayed in a vacation rental home instead of a hotel -- and it was better then expected. The condo was close to the, the rounds and pool were very nice. Everything was in order when we arrived, and we were pleased to learn that the pictures online matched the home. We'd definitely recommend this condo - would work even if you're bringing kids and want to spend a lot of your vacation at the beach. We cooked, the grill outside worked well.

“Great View - enjoyed our time”

Reviewed 7 May 2009

We had an excellent time staying at this location. The views were wonderful and close to Camp Pendleton. We were there to welcome home our Marine. There was plenty of room for the 5 of us. It was like home away from home. It helped my nephew to re-adjust to the Western World after being in Iraq for a year. It helped us all to relax, enjoy the quiet, and appreciate all that we have. The complex was beautiful. The only problem we had during the week is the water was shut off to our floor for about 6 hours. Apparently, it had been shut off 1 day a week for several weeks as they were working on a repeat problem.

“Nice vacation home”

Reviewed 7 May 2009

We rented this home for a week in February. We were visiting our son in the Marine Corp. We found it very comfortable and convenient to the beach and the base. If we would travel to carlsbad again we would consider renting this property again. The only issue we had was the steps and the fact that it is a bit of a walk to the beach. But all in all it was a nice place to stay.

“Great location”

Reviewed 28 Apr 2009

Good: Location. Great for travelling to our fav' locations. Loved Oceanside. Not so good: Can hear Amtrax regularly. Good: The pool and hot tub in the complex, and being next to the ocean. Not so good: carpeting in unit is hard to get sand out of. Good: Unit looked clean Not so good: had musty smells, knobs, counters and railings were sticky in places. Wrong paint used on cupboards; when cleaning paint came off in various places. GREAT: Rooftop balcony. Used it every night. Recommend: Replace carpet with durable, easy-to-clean flooring, remove poor paint, leave an "Air Sponge" in kitchen and upstairs.
