Very Good

“Live like a Bostonian!”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2013

Great location, perfect home. We stay for two weeks as my oldest Daughter attended a summer program at Emerson, and my youngest attended a soccer camp in Wellesley. Ideal location, close to everything, the red line, Charles Street, Boston Commons, the North End, Newbury Street, etc...Don't need a car here, just walk! Very comfortable home, nicely decorated, and a great rooftop deck! Paul is awesome to deal with. Will be going back soon. Thanks again!

“Beacon Hill Gem”

Reviewed 30 May 2013

I found this place last minute and to my luck, it was available for the 8 days I wanted and was booked the rest of the month and it seems it almost always booked. I couldn't of been happier. The house is as close to the old Beacon Hill as you'll get. It has all the modern amenities, while maintaining it's historical charm. The location was perfect. I like to walk, so Fanual Hall and The Boston Garden were 10 minutes away and the Back Bay was 15 minutes. The weather was great, so walking the city was not only fun, it's a history lesson ! The roof deck is amazing (very steep steps to get on the roof), the shower had great water pressure and the bed was comfortable. Paul was very nice and has instructions, suggestions, maps and everything you need to help make your stay as comfortable as possible. I'd stay here every time I'm in Boston , but I'm afraid it's always going to be booked !

“one of our best rentals ever”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2012

My wife and I have rented a number of places over the past 8 years but none beat this property for location, cleanliness, comfort, good organization and visual appeal. Paul is an easy person to work with and makes sure all the bases are covered. We will be back!

“Lovely Historical House”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2012

We have stayed in The Federal Rose three times now and have enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. This historical house has been restored with loving care. From the hardwood floors to the art on the walls, it is an aesthetic pleasure. The kitchen is good for cooks (gas stove, quality cookware) and the house is comfortable throughout. You cannot beat the location. Paul, the owner, is super. Really, it is rather perfect.

“A great place to stay in the heart of Beacon Hill”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2012

Our family of four enjoyed our week-long stay in The Federal Rose. The house is situated in a unique location in the heart of Beacon Hill, literally across an alley from the Museum of african american History and it is an easy walk to Boston Common, the train to Cambridge, and the Boston aquarium. Whole Foods is literally a three minute walk down the hill. This old house is clearly a labour of love for the owners. They share their collection of cookbooks, small space design books and travel guides with guests. It certainly was a lovely fit for us. Having access to laundry was very helpful with two small girls. The gourmet kitchen, dining room, living room, and fabulous roof deck are the highlights of this home. The second floor bedroom we stayed in was comfortable, and there was plenty of room in the second bedroom for our daughters' cribs. (I understand the owner is in the process of renovating this room to accommodate more guests.) The central air conditioning was wonderful in the midst of the Boston heat wave in early august. Our only caveat for those who have high expectations, (and this was minor), was the cold water pressure in the second floor bathroom, but given the age of the house and the quality of the owner's renovations, I am sure this issue will be addressed in time. If you are looking for a character property to rent for unique Boston vacation experience, I highly recommend working with Paul. He offers helpful instructions and recommendations, and he was prompt to respond to questions and to process payments. I will refer friends and family traveling to Boston to Paul in the future.

“The Best Boston Digs”

Reviewed 18 Jan 2012

I stayed in this Beacon hill home for six weeks this past fall/winter. What a delight! The house is a clean, cozy and extremely charming 2 BR house with tons of historical ambience while at the same time delivering modern conveniences, such as a remodeled bathroom and gourmet kitchen, and laundry in the basement. The living area and bedrooms were comfortable and well-appointed. The neighborhood is the best aspect, however. Beacon Hill is amazing, and you will feel cultured and erudite just walking the streets. Charles Street is a short walk away -- it has great restaurants, shops, speciality groceres, salons, etc. Even closer to the house is a Whole Foods and a wonderful gym. It's a short but steep walk to Boston Common and downtown. You can't go wrong by renting this property. I fell in love with it and never wanted to leave.
