“Best Christmas Ever!”
What a beautiful, peaceful place to share the Christmas holiday with my family! There was enough space for dad and his girl, mom and her new beau, my husband and a friend to spread out and enjoy a welcome retreat! A few of us enjoyed some pampering at Ludlow Spa, only minutes away from this home and quiet neighborhood. Thank you again for allowing us to bring our beloved fur babies as it just wouldn't have been Christmas without them!
“Holiday Get away”
Our Family wanted to get away the week after Christmas and found a home in one of our favorite areas in Port Ludlow. Joan was so helpful and responded quickly. Within a day we had the place booked and were excited. The House was beautiful with a view that could not be beat. It was clean and cozy. I would highly suggest staying here and plan on staying there again!
Response from the owner We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay. Come back in the summer when you can enjoy the Olympic-sized outdoor pool, tennis, hiking, biking, boating, clam digging and much more!
“Everything I expected and more”
The owners are great to work with. Great views from deck and kitchen, etc. Intend to go back. Great and relaxing time on the property.
“Wonderful home and great location for our family celebration.”
Great place and perfect location for our family graduation celebration. 7 adults and 5 small children were accomadated with ease. Scenery was beautiful. We saw 3 Bald Eagles the first morning. Great location for our day trips -- whale watching and touring Port Townsend. Fun listening to the waves down below and watching ships go by. Beautiful sun rises for those willing to get up at 5 a.m. Switch out air mattress bed for a real mattress for an Excellent rating on comfort. Amazing trip for us. Thanks for the use of your home.
“Restful, peaceful, beautiful house on Puget sound.”
My husband, his sister and I stayed at this lovely house in November, 2012. Every room in the house looks out on Puget Sound, and every morning, Bald Eagles fly by, sometimes stopping to roost in trees on the property. We are birders, and enjoyed the gardens on the property because they are designed to attract birds and provide seeds and nectar for many species. We regularly saw Red Crossbills, Stellar's Jays, Sapsuckers and Woodpeckers, Ruby and Golden-crowned Kinglets, Mountain and Chestnut-backed Chickadees, White-crowned and Golden-crowned sparrows, several species of loons and grebes, many gulls, finches, warblers, a pine grosbeak, and hundreds of pine siskins. Snowy Owls were reported nearby, though we weren't lucky enough to see one. Below the house, a family of sea otters played everyday in in the waters near shore. The owners have provided a scope and binoculars for viewing. The best feature of the house is the sunroom. Though it was cold outside at times, the sunroom was a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the scenery. Every day we were there (three weeks), we arose early so we could enjoy sunrise at this very beautiful spot. Everything about this location is spectacular. This is truly a place to renew your spirit. Everything you need is available in this house and the owners are very attentive if there is a problem. One thing not mentioned in the house description is access to a garage for parking one's car. The neighborhood is wonderful. Every night, rain or not, we took a walk in the neighborhood. Grocery stores are about twenty minutes away, and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby. We generally cooked at home, because why go out when one can have such a beautiful view by staying home? This is one of the best places we have stayed on our Vrbo vacations. I imagine in the summer that it is even better, and we hope to come back someday to spend some summer days there on the Sound.
Our stay at Highbank House is a repeat rental for us. We had another wonderful stay and believe there must not be a better view on the Sound than from this house. The king bedroom is fantasic with a morning view of the sun or fog, the deck is perfect for viewing bald eagles, hummers, deer and even a racoon. Mount Baker can often be in full view and we even saw the leg of a gorgeous rainbow which turned the Sound waters an orange sherbert color. We'll look forward to our third visit to Highbank House!
“Beautiful and comfortable house, amazing view!”
The house is large and comfortably hosting 9 people. The amazing view is available from almost all rooms in the house. we loved going to sleep with this amazing view and waking up to it. The house is well managed, we found it clean and all needed amenities available and in good shap.
“home away from home”
We spent the month of July in the home of Joan and Jay. It truly was like "home away from home". It was a fully loaded home - from the kitchen and pantry to the extra towels and blankets. Nothing could be more relaxing than sitting on the deck viewing and listening to nature all around us. Port Ludlow was a perfect starting off point for all the various activities our extended family enjoyed - from the mountains to the seashore. The stay met all our of expectations and more. Thank you, Joan and Jay.
“We found the accomodations to be excellent and what a gorgeous v”
It was a 'girls' weekend' for ten and we all agreed we couldn't have picked a better place. The kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans, dishes,glasses... everything that you could possibly need. The location was perfect... Port Townsend for shopping, golf for the golfers, Sequim for those who wanted to try their luck at gambling. A great sunroom for enjoying the view (the property was landscaped beautifully), reading or even watch the deer that meander through. Five stars all the way.
“Beautiful Home and Spectacular Views”
Our large family spent a wonderful 50th anniversary celebration week in this beautiful home with large chef's kitchen. Joan and Jay were great with the planning details and registration. The spectacular views from all the large windows and solarium provided us with sunrises, eagles, numerous varieties of small birds and critters, submarines, sub-tenders, Coast Guard boats, sailboats and so many commercial fishing craft. Facing the major Puget Sound shipping lanes, we watched and photographed huge container ships and gigantic car carriers. Wonderful vacation spot!
