Description from owner

Description

Half an hour's easy drive from the channel port of Cherbourg in the lush green countryside of the Saire valley, Anneville is a quiet, pleasant village with a river running through it.

Nestling in its own private courtyard, no.12 is an early 19th-century farmhouse that can accommodate up to eight people.

A butcher's shop (which doubles as a grocers and sells bread) are a few minute's walk from the house, and it will only take you five minutes to reach safe, pleasant beaches.

The house has 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin. Upstairs there is a bathroom and separate W.C. Downstairs there is a shower-room with W.C. The sitting room has a sofa-bed.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and ample cooking and eating utensils for a party of eight.

Heating is by independent electric radiators in every room. There is also a powerful wood burning stove in the kitchen/living room and an open fireplace in the sitting room.

Further details

Guests are asked to leave the house in the same clean condition as they found it. However there is an optional final cleaning service if you would prefer to leave that to us.

Further details indoors

Linen and towels can be provided at extra cost by arrangement.

The shower room is downstairs and has a WC. Upstairs is a large bathroom with a separate WC.

Baby cot and highchair are available by arrangement.

The sofa bed is in the sitting room. There are also comfortable seats in the large kitchen/diner so that early risers do not need to disturb those sleeping in the sitting-room.

Further details outdoors

Parking is in a gated courtyard. There is ample room for several cars. At the rear of the house is a meadow for eating, playing, sunbathing or just lazing about. Bicycle hire is available locally and the sea is within easy cycling distance on flat roads.

“Farmhouse Fantastique!”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2017

What a wonderful house in a superb location - peaceful village with lots to do in the surrounding area. The house had everything we needed and Tom and Anthony couldn't have been better hosts.

“Normandy Holiday”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2014

This was our second stay at Hameau de la Ville, the first being back in 2006. We had a warm welcome from Tom & Anthony with a bottle of wine, and the heating had been put on through the house. The house is basic but clean. We made full use of the rooms, including the sofa bed, my son enjoyed sticking his head through the hole in the floor, and remembering the cat! The Gite is well positioned for visiting the Normandy's beaches, a hour and half journey from Mont St Michel, and a 15 minute drive from a train station in Valognes. The village itself has a butcher, bakery and a small bar, St Vaast le Hougue or Quettehou a few more amenities and only a short drive away. We hope to return in the near future

Response from the owner Thanks for the comments. Just to be clear - the 'hole in the floor' is a vent which allows warm air to rise from the wood-burning stove into the room above. It has a trapdoor over it and bars across it so you can't actually fall through it - or even put a hand through it. You can look through it but that is all.
