“Beautiful, immaculate hassle-free cabin rental”

Reviewed 16 Jan 2014

Bear Timbers is beautiful. The cabin itself is outfitted with all new appliances. It has plenty of firewood, a hot tub, gas grill, wood-burning stove, beautiful porch and the rental agency and folks are very very accommodating. It's just what I expected and asked for. A+.

“Better than home away from home!”

Reviewed 6 Dec 2013

Serene and well maintained. We enjoyed the modern Conviniences and all the extras. We've told many people about this place and we will be back! (maybe instead of the beach, planes and passports this will be our go to vacation.) thank you! Sincerely Shawn & Bobbie Lucas

“gorgeous escape!”

Reviewed 15 Nov 2013

we loved our stay at bear timbers, i wish we could have stayed longer. the cabin itself is gorgeous, beautifully decorated, spotless, great amenities and appliances. i loved the master bath tub and the hot tub outside overlooking the mountains. the area surrounding the cabin is so peaceful, we walked down to the river and really felt at peace and so happy. thank you to the renters for making this a relaxing and enjoyable trip.

“Not so isolated beautiful cabin near the river”

Reviewed 17 Oct 2013

We loved our recent stay at Bear Timbers. The cabin was immaculate and had everything we needed to have a great time. Our only complaint is that it isn't isolated. The very nice neighbors are right next door. It didn't turn out to be a problem, but we were looking for something more secluded. Even so, our dogs had a great time chasing deer and swimming in the river. Ok, one more. Taking your own garbage is very inconvenient, especially when you are there on a holiday weekend and Luray isn't on your way out of town. But again, beautiful cabin, with many fun things to do.

Response from the owner Thanks for the feedback, Beth. You're right that the cabin isn't isolated, and we make sure not to advertise or make any claim of isolation. However, it is our hope to make it that way in the near future. As you may have noticed, we put in a tree line earlier this spring. Leyland Cypress trees planted 6 feet apart which grow very tall and dense. When grown, this should make the cabin significantly more private and isolated.

“Perfect Birthday Weekend!”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2013

I came to Bear Timbers to celebrate my 30th birthday weekend - and I couldn't have asked for anything better! Despite the fact that it was a busy holiday weekend, and we arrived merely hours after another party check out, the place was perfectly neat and clean on our arrival, with plenty of linens and supplies provided to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. Located in an area with many other cabins and campgrounds - and again, despite the busy weekend - we still felt secluded and "away from it all" - despite being less than two hours from DC (also, the drive was really easy!) The fire pit was perfect, with stump seating and when they say unlimited wood, they mean unlimited wood. We couldn't have burned it all if we had tried. The river is a short walk away and the canoes provided for hours of fun - as did just sitting in the river talking and laughing. Service was also impeccable, but I will make one note that when you pay, it is best to use a credit card because they will put a hold for the security deposit during your stay. They state this on their website, but I didn't remember and had the hold placed on my checking account because I used a debit card. This did not cause me any major problems, and the hold was released in full within days of my stay. But it is important worth noting. The only draw back was that the sofa beds and the bunk beds were less comfortable than the King bed in the main bedroom. Still perfectly adequate, but one member of our party had a bad back and was stiff in the morning. Luckily, the hot tub was there to help with that!

“Great Family Time”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2013

Loved this cabin. Our family spent the 4th of July and had a wonderful time. Cabin is beautiful and so well maintained. The owners really put a lot of thought into the amenities. Beautiful furnishings, mountain bikes, extensive DVD collection, hot tub, outdoor chairs, etc. You literally only need to bring food and clothes. This cabin is located near on a very beautiful section of the Shenandoah River! Cant wait to stay again.

“Beautiful cabin along the river.”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2013

The cabin was absolutely gorgeous and very clean inside. We did have some problems with the hot tub but the office sent someone over that day to fix it. We loved walking to the river and made use of the canoes that were provided. Our dog also had a great time and loved running through the woods and playing in the river.
