“great weekend trip”
Beautiful house right on the river with easy access for canoeing and swimming. Plenty of room with a full kitchen, dining area, and screened porch. The house is about a two hour drive from the DC area, so people can join you for a day trip if they don't want to spend the night. Only downside is that there is only one bathroom.
“Quiet and peaceful solitude in a comfortable cabin”
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Shenandoah Stars cabin. The cabin itself has all of the amenities that you could possibly need for a really nice getaway (with or without kids). In spite of the fact that we never met or even talked with the owner or management, we were struck by the charm and character of the cabin, its decor, and the obvious care provided. We were fortunate to be at the cabin during low season, so had the entire neighborhood to ourselves. The entire experience was so quiet and peaceful. Here are a few comments, intended to help others: 1. This place has everything: linens, bikes, Dvds, phone lines, wifi, hot tub, fireplace (and firewood), canoes, etc. 2. This place is located in a neighborhood of vacation units: the neighborhood is mostly dated. In peak season, one might feel claustrophobic. There is a trailer with an outhouse within a few feet of this cabin. 3. It takes about 20-25 minutes to drive from this cabin to Luray, where there is a grocery store and restaurants. Shenandoah N.P. is another 20 minutes beyond that. 4. There are a lot of rental properties in the Luray area. We read a lot of reviews and were fortunate to end up in a great place. 5. This cabin is easily large enough for a family of six, but doesn't feel too big for a couple to use. 6. Management mentioned that GPS devices won't get you to the cabin. Google Maps on my android phone worked fine. A few (minor) points of feedback for management: 1. There was a distinct "dog smell" in the lower level of the cabin when we arrived as well as on the smaller sofa in the living room. 2. An optional pull-down shade might be nice for the short sides of the front porch so as to add privacy. 3. The plastic mattress cover on the main bed was annoying. Maybe there is another way to accomplish the same purpose? 4. Perhaps a phone call or handwritten note early during one's stay would add a nice personal touch.
We had a fantastic time canoeing, hiking, spending time by the fire. The property manager was just awesome in making us feel at home. This is a great place!
“Nice and Clean”
Very nice place. The rooms were spacious and bed really comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped with lots of pots, pans and appliances that we never thought we would find in a cabin. The location is great right by the water. The only bad things I can say is that there is only one bathroom for 3 bedrooms. Also we had trouble regulating the temperature in the hot tub the second day. First day it worked just fine though. Overall great experience and great price. Will definitely stay here again.
We rented the Stars Riverfront Cabin in November. The cabin was perfect! It was spotless, roomy, and provided for all of our needs. I appreciate how the owners make sure their guests feel at home. The view could not get any better and we loved spending our days and nights by the fire pit roasting marshmellows and enjoying family time! The owners provide canoes, mountain bikes, and firewood to make sure your stay is complete!!! I would recommend this cabin to any one of my family and friends!
We were here in mid November, we brought our chocolate lab with us and it was a wonderful experience. I think Jax (our dog) had even more fun than us.
“location was great!”
This is our seventh yr visiting Luray. By far, loved this cabin and location the most. The pavers to the rivers edge were great - fire pit was awesome, cabin was clean and cozy. really enjoyed inside fireplace!
The surroundings are astonishing beautiful. Autumn colors, Shendoah, wildlife. The cabin is great, service fine. Bike's and canoe's available. 15 minutes from Luray.
“Perfect weekend getaway”
My friends and I had a great time at Shenandoah Stars. We really appreciated how everything was provided, so that we could pack lightly and not have to worry about what was missing. The amenities are great, too. Lots of Dvds, a hot tub, canoes, bikes, gas and charcoal grills, great fire pit right by the river, etc. And the view from the riverside is beautiful. If you're looking for a place to unwind, I highly recommend this.
We had a great time, the location is excellent and the house has everything to have a good time!
