“A magical getaway with artful inspiration”

Reviewed 17 May 2014

I stayed at Anya's lovely home with my mom, dad, sister and boyfriend for the weekend (three nights total) and had the BEST time. We came to do selected wine tours around Napa and Sonoma, which we ventured out to do easily, but ultimately were just as happy cooking and drinking at the house. My chief goal in writing this review is to erase ANY doubt you have about renting this property. The location is quiet and serene, with a constant, but pleasant, rushing of the nearby creek. Inside, the home is decorated like something out of a hip, home-decorating magazine! It has some Anthropologie-esque flair that any female in your party will appreciate. The toughest problem you'll have is deciding whether to hang out inside or out. The main house has two queen beds, both with a ton of natural light that will wake you each morning. There is a full bath in the middle of the hallway and a half-bath that is part of the laundry room, which came in handy sometimes. The kitchen/living and dining area are all open and spacious. You could easily have someone crash on the couch if you wanted. Then there's a guesthouse, which is a short walk down the driveway. This little gem houses the king bed, another full bath AND a pull-out futon. It even has its own patio and hammock! Overall, this place has all the amenities you need--even a projector to watch movies. I haven't mentioned the pool and hot-tub, but they look even more inviting in person than they do in the photos. This place is an all-around win. It's stressful to find the right rental and have it all rest on your shoulders--but you don't have to worry about that with this place. From the moment you arrive until you're loading your car to leave, your amazement won't cease. It was a perfect getaway for my mom on her 61st birthday and we hope to return one day!

Response from the owner Thank you for your kind review, we hope you come back soon. We love when our guests enjoy Creek House and appreciate all it has to offer. It is our favorite place to relax and spend time with the family and it is this experience we try to create for our guests.

“Modern Retreat-ahhh!”

First let me say that we have stayed at a lot of rentals in the Kenwood area, and this is by far our favorite. We spent a weekend there this summer and it just wasn't enough time. The house is newly renovated, thoughtfully styled (fresh, funky, modern, with interesting original art but not over done) it sits on a lovely, very private creekside property (think fairies. we even saw a deer one morning) and the new pool + hotub. The pool! The Hotub! We spent much of our time outside eating, lounging and swimming. Only made it to one winery since we really had no interest in leaving the property. Great place for entertaining, kitchen was well stocked, we had everything we needed and there was a grocery/restaurant only 5-10 minutes away. The management was responsive and super helpful. Everyone in our group can't wait to return! *Note, probably not ideal for bringing young children, its hillside and there are multiple levels and the creek close by.

“Beautiful, tranquil location hidden in canyon close to Sonoma”

Our family had an absolutely wonderful vacation. The house had everything we needed and the small signs, fitted into decorative frames around the house, helped us locate and figure out everything easily. The grounds were immaculate and it was like a green oasis in the autumn backdrop. We were so lucky as one afternoon a doe and her baby walked down the hill and one morning a stag appeared on the driveway. Absolutely breathtaking! The hot tub was fantastic and we enjoyed it immensely, along with the large kitchen table where we enjoyed spending time together enjoying meals, wine and cards. The small cottage with the third bedroom slightly down the driveway was great and gave us some extra privacy from the rest of the family. The little extras, like having wifi, the Dvd's and projector, the BBQ, the wine decanter, the comfortable outdoor furniture and tables, all made it feel like a home away from home. The house was only a short distance to Sonoma and there was a general store just a short distance north on the main hiway where we able to purchase groceries. Wineries where of course everywhere. It was also only a short distance to the road that went over top of the hills to Napa Valley on the other side. The road was extremely winding so we had to take our time, but it was so much faster than driving all the way around to the north or south. Thanks very much to the owners, plus the grounds and housekeeping staff for making our stay so enjoyable. Great location and great property. Hope to go back some day soon.

“A hidden wine country gem!”

Reviewed 22 Apr 2014

I spent a long weekend with my mother up in Wine Country and am so glad we chose Whispering Creek Getaway. First of all, I love the Sonoma County area of wine country, you're surrounded by vineyards but not stuck in all the traffic and tourist non-sense that occurs in Napa. We enjoyed some great meals at the house, we picked up groceries at Whole Foods Mkt in Sonoma which was a quick drive. We also loved Los Molinos Mexican restaurant in aqua Caliente and a great Italian restaurant just down the road from the rental. Our favorite part of the stay though was really enjoying the pool/hot tub and reading out on the deck, we even had a Mama and baby fawn visit us! I'd love to come back for a small party, this would be a great place to host a birthday, baby shower or bridal shower. I would suggest checking in before evening time bc it gets very dark at night and is a little isolated. Oh another thing I loved, the outdoor shower! At times, you really feel like your at a spa here!
