“I never want to leave this paradise!”

Reviewed 13 May 2015

I could seriously stay here forever and have stayed for up to month, but it never feels like enough time! There are stretches of beautiful beaches within walking distance, most with hardly any people on them! This is the kind of place you go to get away from it all. If you don't want to see a highway or a McDonald's or Hilton, then this is the place for you. The house is its own sight to see and at times, hard to pry yourself away from. We hang out on the beautiful decks every morning and afternoon and watch what we call the "Nature Show". The jungle is so alive and at times we're running from lookout to lookout trying to take everything in..."howler monkey's off the back deck...toucans out front...sloth in the back yard...!" There's also plenty to do in and around town, so get out and explore the beaches, go kayaking, ask the locals how to get to the waterfalls, snorkel, fish, zip line, raft, go on a 4WD adventure or just relax on the beach with a fresh pipa (coconut-like fruit)! There's an endless selection of restaurants to try. Hit up the local spots and also check out all the amazing international food. It seems like chefs from around the world have migrated here and are serving up delicious foods from their home countries. I could talk about the food for hours. Feel free to email me direct of you want more info. I've been going down here for years now and love to pass on all the great tips and tricks I've discovered. PURA VIDA!

Response from the manager Many thanks for your review. We are very happy that you enjoy your stay. See you soon again!

“One of a kind house”

Reviewed 12 May 2015

We had a wonderful time at the canopy house. We've never seen a house like it. The wood used is beautiful. The air circulates through everywhere keeping it very comfortable and the views are spectacular! We saw so many animals and birds from several decks and balconies. We could hear all the sounds and the rain forest is beautiful! The house has a nice kitchen with a dining area. The top floor has an open bedroom where you can see for miles. We were near the beaches, shops and restaurants. Lots to do and see there. We would highly recommend it.

Response from the manager Many thanks. We really appreciate that you love the house. It is a very special space for us too.

“Ode to the Canopy House”

Reviewed 9 May 2015

I flew to Costa Rica for a tropical vacation, And rented the Canopy House for rest and relaxation. The design of the house is oh-so-clever, Such as I've seen back at home......maybe never? It's functional and gorgeous, with many great features, That allow you to watch and observe many creatures. In the view room upstairs you can sleep, spend the night Or go up in the daylight and see many a sight. There are decks on two levels, and four sides of the dwelling, You'll want to watch nature, the urge is compelling. While agouti graze in the yard, and sloths sleep in the trees You'll see morpho butterlies float in the breeze. The monkeys will entertain you, both howlers and white face. The location's ideal, you'll enjoy and embrace! So many Hummingbirds, Toucans, and Parrots outside, But Montezuma's Oropendola is the bird that presides. Too many eateries to list, so many shops to explore, Plenty to do nearby, especially outdoor. Rent a kayak, go snorkeling, visit a sanctuary, hire a guide, Zip line, take a chocolate tour, go to the beach, play in the tide. Back at the house you'll cut mangoes, papayas, pineapples galore, The kitchen is perfect for all this and more. Fry plantain, blend drinks, cook fish and fresh meats, Brew coffee that's local, enjoy all the treats! A large table to dine at, a breakfast bar as well, You'll want to stay longer, you'll be under the spell. Three bedrooms so comfy, overhead fans everywhere, Spacious, open and bright, a serene atmosphere! My third stay at this treasure and I'm definitely going back The owners cherish their time too, both Adrienne and Jack. While they continue to share, and generously rent, Choose some dates, book your trip, it's money well spent. Go home refreshed, feel alive, your life will feel sweeter. And as they say in Costa Rica, "Pura Vida"!

“Hidden Paradise”

Reviewed 16 Mar 2015

We stayed at the canopy house for a week and had an amazing time! We were able to see Howler monkeys, Whiteface monkeys, Toucans, Perrots, Mc Caws, Guans and so many more animals right from our balcony. We could have spend hours just watching and listening to the jungle around us. The location is perfect and very convenient to everything in Puerto Viejo, but just make sure you have a four wheeler or forget making it up the hill, specially after the rain! I highly recommend this hidden jewel and can't wait to go back.

Response from the manager Many thanks for your comment. We are glad that you had a great time here and would be pleased to see you again.

“Being one with nature!”

Reviewed 24 Jun 2010

The location was really great being in a National Forest with monkey's swinging by the place and playing high up in the trees. The top view room was absolutely amazing with the panoramic views and being able to see the ocean. With the location up on a hill we received a nice breeze most of the day keeping the house comfortable. I would definitely stay there again and I really like the nearby towns and activities. I recommend going white water rafting!!

“Fantastic Trip”

Reviewed 22 Jun 2010

The house was imaculate from the beginning of our trip to the end. The views were amazing and the architecture of the house and surroundings were breath-taking. I highly recommend for any adventurous group to take advantage and experience an unforgettable getaway!

“Serenity at its best”

Reviewed 17 Jun 2010

If you are looking for true Costa Rican atmosphere with privacy and authentic style, this is the place for you. We really enjoyed the top bedroom with the ocean in the distance and privacy all around. The quality of home was perfect without a detail being left out. Wake up in the morning to a delicious cup of costa rican coffee while you swing in your hammock on the deck and watch the monkey's play in the nearby trees. Can't wait to come stay here again!!

“Jack's time at Casa Brisas”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2010

My last visit was in April of 2009 before that May of 2008. I want to experiance the different seasons here as the difference between April and May was noteable. In May the Giant Fig Tree next to the house was loaded with ripe figs and the Howler Monkeys were all over it every day, we have many good pictures and great memories. One day a group of White Faces monkeys passed through taking their turn eating the figs. In April the Giant Fig grew new bright green leaves and the Howlers were there eating the tender new leaves. In April many trees here flower. The house is made of concrete and beautiful woods, the floors either wood or tile and each floor has different features and views. It is an adventure of its own. Though the ocean was a kilometers walk away, there was so much going on at the house that I found it hard to leave. Being up on a hill it seemed to have much better air than the flat land down below. There were too many birds for me to keep track of alone. One of us would describe the bird while the other looked it up in a book. Within 6 kilometers of the house there was a restaurant serving about any kind of food you like though I do not recall any middleastern food. The place was clean, and the people from the managment company were curtious, timely and in my case English speaking. I have used them in the past and this is the house I like best. The horse shoe pits were an added bonus!

Response from the manager Jack, It was a pleasure to have you! Sorry I beat you at your favorite game!!!
