“Very nice apartment, perfectly located for local exploring or he”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2012

We arrived and were met by Claudie, who showed us the major features of the apartment. The location is great. It is a 5 to 10 minute walk throught the small park you can see from the living room to the Gare de L'est, the nearest major Metro station which gives you access to anywhere in Paris. Or you can poke around the local area and check out some great shopping and greater restaurants nearby. There is a restaurant immediately to the right as you go out the front door (which was amazing) and a grocery market immediately to the left as you go out the front door so access to either made for you or make your own food is mere steps away in either direction. On Tuesday you can walk down to the open air market about 3 blocks down the canal. The apartment was exactly as advertised. The owners were gracious and Pascal was fantastic in helping me arrange this from afar, answering all of my questions very promptly. If I was to mention one negative, it would be that with the windows open in the evening you can hear all of the people who are on the canal having wine and food picnic style until 11 or 12 at night and later. That said, we would definitely stay there again, when coming to Paris in the future.

Response from the manager Dear Martin, I am grateful for this very informative review that describes thoroughly the area and the mood around Suite Canal. When are you coming back!?

“Wonderful!”

We have rented many apartments in Paris, mostly in the Marais, but this was by far our favorite. Canal street life was a joy, not a bother, due to the size and layout of the apartment. Bedroom is located in the back, with kitchen, foyer, bathroom and a hallway separating the two. Loved the bedroom's courtyard view of Paris rooftops. Large for two people, but there is no dining area to speak of except a couple of barstools at the kitchen counter. We found eating on the coffee table sufficient. The couch was fine for daily use, but not sure it would comfortably sleep two tall adults. I would not recommend for children. There is a lot of art and antique furniture, not to mention erotic art in bedroom which may shock some conservative folks. Kitchen was well equipped, bathroom huge by Paris standards and very clean. Having a washing machine and an electric towel drying rack made laundry a snap. There is a small but sufficient grocery store right downstairs from the apartment, the Marche St. Martin is only a short walk. It's lovely to stroll along the canal all the way to the Bastille. Neat boutiques and plenty of restaurants if you don't want to wander too far, with our faves being La Patache and Le Cambodge. The landlord arranged for a friend to meet us when we arrived and to check us out when we departed. We did have a little back-and-forth about our safety deposit due to the landlord's busy travel schedule, but were able to work it out amicably. Lastly, though we are used to walk-ups, having an elevator was awesome. I was in my first trimester and thrilled for the break. This feature also would make it suitable for older folks and those with disabilities.

Response from the manager Dear Mandy, Wonderful! Un grand merci from Paris for such a nice review. Pascal
