“Great Townhouse - Great Island”

Reviewed 7 Nov 2012

My family and I visited back in June. We always rent a property where we can spread out, cook and do laundry. We got all we hoped for at the Townhouse. The place had tons of room, nice furnishings and an amazing screened lanai. The lanai was handy not only for eating after coming in from the pool or beach, but also for dumping all our sandy stuff at the end of the day. Michael was great to work with, answering all our tedious questions. Here are a few random thoughts: - The location is far from 7 Mile Beach. It was about an hour drive. My family enjoys wide-open beaches, with lots of room to spread out and no restrictions on what you bring, like your own food and drinks. Lots of places along 7 Mile Beach are exactly this way. Rum Point beach, which you can almost throw a rock to from the front door of the townhouse, does not offer these amenities. It is a very small beach, with tons of lounge chairs set out almost to the water's edge, where you cannot bring your own food or drink and with water that isn't quite as clear or blue as the other side of the island. We could barely build a sand castle due to the chairs. It was not at all what we were looking for. As such, we spent a lot of time on Seven Mile Beach, burning a lot of time and gas getting there and back. (Cemetery Beach at the north end of 7 Mile was the best spot). - Starfish Point was a great spot near the condo to hang out, the beach just wasn't all that big and lots of boats and jet skiers come by because of the starfish that hang out there. - The location was also pretty far from a full-service grocery store. Although it's a hassle after just arriving from the airport, you really should load up on food on your way to the condo - it will save you lots of time. - When night driving, watch out for crabs on the road, they can be hard to dodge. All in all, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed the many fun activities on the island. The condo was the nicest place we've stayed in on our vacations!

“Barefoot Paradise!”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2012

The Barefoot Lagoon Island House is everything a vacation destination should be and more--convenient kayaking right out the back door; miles of coral reef to explore out the front door; a lively Rum Point Resort to keep the kids and parents and anyone else on holiday entertained, and a well appointed house to provide every comfort away from home. We found that Rum Point is where Cayman Islanders vacation, when they want to get away from the crowds and chaos of Georgetown and 7 Mile Beach. We hope to return again and again to Barefoot Lagoon Island House. Michael is very organized and makes your transition to Island relaxation smooth as silk. I would recommend saving the hours of time I did research to find Barefoot Lagoon, and book asap!!!

“A relaxing, magical and adventurous experience”

We loved Rum Point and we loved Barefoot Lagoon...We went swimming with the stingrays, hopped aboard Waverunners, went snorkeling every day - and, my favorite, we kayaked out into Bio Bay one dark night to see the bioluminescence in the water...it was astonishing. Barefoot Lagoon Island House was especially wonderful, and we appreciated all the small touches of comfort and ease... We were celebrating my daughter's graduation from nursing school - and we both came back rested, tanned and happy.

“A Week Is Not Long Enough!”

All the comfots of home, in Paradise. What more is there to say? Everything here exceeded our expectations from our arrival in a torrential downpour to the spectacular location of this house. Mitzie, the Property Manager met us at the house upon arrival and explained its many amenities to us. Our favorite feature of the house was the expanse of glass between the house and the lanai that disappeared giving us complete openness to the outside without the bugs. We used the air-conditioning only once, choosing instead to have the fans on and everything wide open. We enjoyed the books on the coffee table, especially those about the history of the area. The location was perfect, walking distance to the beautiful beach at Rum Point and spectacular views of the water and the sunsets. We were close to good food. The Kaibo was our favorite restaurant; the beach bar-e-que on Tuesday nights should not be missed! A trip on Red Sail's catamaran out to Stingray City or a dive on the atlantis were both great experiences with lots of photo opportunties. McCurley's Tours delivered us to the house and our waiting car with a stop at Hurley's Market to stock up on groceries for the week. They picked us up at the house and returned us to the airport in plenty of time to do some duty free shopping and make our flight. Yes, we will be back!

“Stay here--you will love it!”

From the minute you open the door you will be so glad that you found this piece of paradise! Barefoot Lagoon is the perfect island getaway! Rum Point is just across the street and the lagoon and pool area are in the back! Michael is great to work with...the bikes and free calls to us were nice touches. I would come back in a heart beat...the place is perfect:)

“Fantastic Stay”

The condo was very tastefully decorated and was very comfortable. It was also well equipt and the air-conditioning was very effective! It is a stone's throw from Rum Point Beach and so is extremely convenient. The pool is about a 10 second walk away. We look forward to coming back again soon in the near future.

“So Easy”

Reviewed 31 Mar 2012

We had a great week-long vacation here with our two kids, ages 8 and 6. The house was very comfortable with a beautifully decorated living area. We took full advantage of the internet, enjoyed using the printer to print our return boarding passes, and even were able to use the house phone to make free calls to the U.S. Having access to the kayak, two adult bikes and a washer and dryer were all plusses. In the morning, when our kids first woke up, we'd head out the back door to the small lagoon dock and look for fish or other interesting findings there before waking across the street to the Rum Point Beach. In the morning, we felt like we had the long pier and beach to ourselves, and when the boats of people coming ashore made the beach more crowded (we were there February Vacation Week), we usually retreated back to the community pool. The house served all of our needs and then some and we found Grand Cayman to be an ideal family vacation spot. We loved the mix of playing at the beach, snorkeling (decent right at Rum Point Beach), taking a private boat out to see the sting rays and do additional snorkeling, visiting the Queen Elizabeth II Botanical Gardens to see the Blue Iguanas, and riding the atlantis sub 100+ feet underwater to see more amazing sea life in Georgetown. My somewhat picky kids had no trouble finding plenty of good things to eat and my husband and I enjoyed our meals as well. We definitely preferred the quieter, more peaceful Rum Point location and did not feel like we were missing anything not being on 7-mile beach. The beach at Rum Point was pretty, we could always find chairs in the shade, and it was easy to keep our kids in our sight line when we were not in the water with them. The owners of Barefoot Lagoon House were wonderful people to rent from and I would do so again in a heartbeat. They provided us with tons of helpful information upfront and truly opened their home to us. It was a superb experience!

“A wonderful stay”

A great location away from hub bub of Georgetown but close enough to spend time at. Townhouse was clean, comfortable, well appointed and enjoyed staying at Island House tremendously and definitely hope to be able to repeat visit. Recommend to anyone who wants to visit and experience Cayman.

“A Truely Relaxing Family Vacation!”

Reviewed 8 Feb 2012

From the moment my family entered the Island House we felt at "home". The beach house couldn't be more perfectly placed with the cove steps outside the back door and Rum Point steps outside the front door. The beauty of the Caymans speak for itself but the key to our week on the Island was being fortunate enough to stay at the Barefoot Lagoon Island House. You are on "Island time" almost instantaneously, and I had a feeling of relaxation that I'm not able to achieve back in the real world. If your going to the Caymans or just looking for some place to get away from it all, you won't find a better place to do it.

“Making great memories in the most beautiful place with great fri”

Reviewed 23 Jan 2012

My girlfriend and I decided to meet up with some friends and take a vacation to the Cayman Islands this January. Our hometown is right outside of Chicago so we knew the Caymans would be garanteed sun from the cold winters of the midwest and we were right! Our friends already knew about the Barefoot Lagoon Island House on Rum Point in the Cayman Islands so we all wanted to stay there. The moment we arrived on the island and took the beautiful scenic route to Rum Point, we knew our trip would be unforgettable. As we arrived to the Island House and toured Rum Point, we were all extremely happy with everything. The house and surrounding areas were beautiful, very clean, and fit all the descrptions very well! The pool and the lagoon that connected to the ocean added an awesome touch and the ocean and Rum Point Beach across the street was so close! We would highly recommend The Barefoot Lagoon Island House to anyone that loves sun, beautiful beaches, the clearest aqua blue waters, great food and restaurants, and a place to make great memories!!
