“Perfect location to tour and visit vancouver”
The house was absolutely lovely very clean with top class modern equipment and facilities. It has a lovely outside space decking and BBQ facilities set in a tranquil water bond feature. The house is just off main street with regular bus connection to downtown Vancouver . Main has lots of shops and restaurants to select from right on your doorstep. Gary the owner could not be more helpful . We had a small BBQ for family and friends during our visit and Gary provided more outside chairs for our guests without even having to ask him. I would have no hesitation in recommending this house to any grouping of 2-4 people and I will look to book this house on my return to Vancouver.
“Like being at Home”
From the time I first contacted Gary on staying here till the time I finally got there it was a great experience.Any detail I wanted to know about the place was explained. But most of all meeting Both Gary and Carole for the first time in the flesh was like meeting old friends. The place is located at the back of there property very close to Down town Vancouver. You are very close to shops and restaurants all within walking distance of the property. The off street parking is a God send as the streets are very narrow but at the same time you are also close to public transport. The place it self is very modern with all you need for a great stay right down to a washing machine and dryer. The only thing I would suggest is that it does need AC because when we were there it did tend to get a bit warm inside.Oh I forgot to say the BBQ or Grill as some may call it was fantastic cooking up some steaks and having a beer it was like I never left OZ.Gary and Carole thank you for the time spent with you.
Response from the owner Thanks Mark - very much appreciated. We hear you about the air conditioning. Although it is needed for a limited time each year, it is needed. We have plans to install the AC in November so it will be there for the summer. Hope you come back to try it out! Cheers! Gary
“Wonderful Relaxing atmosphere”
I really enjoyed my stay at the Garden House. Gary and Carol were so warm, friendly, and accommodating. Being surrounded by beautiful artwork and a wonderful garden greatly added to the ambiance. The sound of the water fountain outside was also very relaxing at night. I went to Vancouver for a yoga teacher training, and I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. So peaceful and serene. Thank you so much!
Response from the owner Carole and I are very happy your stay was so enjoyable. We have had the first apples off the tree in one of Carole's pies. They still need a week or so to become "eating" apples though. Come back when you can!
“A very convenient and comfortable place to stay in Vancouver”
We stayed in Garden House for a week in august for family vacation. It is a great experience for us. Since the house is conveniently located in the central of Vancouver, we went to all the highlights of Vancouver by public transportation(bus, skytrain and seabus) such as Stanely Park, Granville Island, Canada Place, Downtown Vancouver, Chinatown, Richmond, Grouse Mountain. The supermarket/post office is walking distance from the house, many local restaurants including authentic Japanese/Cantonese restaurants are around the corner. The neighborhood is quite and safe. The house is maintained very clean and provides many kitchen stuffs(lots of cups, plates, bowls, utensils, pots, plastic bags, plastic wraps, teapot, teabags/coffee, kettle, kitchen towels. Whatever you need at home, they have it. I even found a highchair in one of the closets.) and office equipment (color printer, fax machine, wi-fi, maps/bus schedule table). The bed and sofa bed are very comfortable. The refrig., dishwasher, washer and dryer are big, easy operated and like new. There is only one little thing that I wished would be a shower rack in the shower. In general, we are very satisfied and definitely will recommend it to our friends.
Response from the owner Thank you so much "musicLover". Carole and I are very happy that your stay was comfortable and enjoyable. We look forward to having you stay with us again for your next visit to Vancouver! Yes, a shower rack certainly is a great idea. Thank you so much for the suggestion. We are also adding a grab bar to the shower this summer as part of the ongoing upgrades to the Garden House.
I just spent a week in the lovely Garden House. It was a wonderful experience - the next best thing to being at home and far surpassing a hotel stay for me. The property met or exceeded my expectations based on the owners' description. There was a dedicated parking spot off the back alley and a well lit and lovely path through the garden including a little bridge over one's own 'moat'. The decor was simple and beautiful, well thought out and the place was incredibly well equipped including a full size new washer/dryer, stove, fridge, microwave and an espresso maker. The bed was comfortable, linens of a high quality and towels plentiful. The kitchen and bath products were all environmentally green. Wireless internet worked and the little office space was much appreciated. There was more than ample closet space. It was clear that a lot of thought and attention to detail and aesthetic had been put into this little house. It was an easy and pleasant experience to book the accommodation, and Gary, one of the owners, was a lovely person to deal with - very flexible and kind and accommodating. I didn't meet Carole however some of her beautiful photographs hung on the wall for me to admire. I particularly wanted to stay in this area to visit relatives and am familiar with and like it however it was easy to access any other part of the city, both by public transport or car. My only comment would be that the house is situated in back of the owners' home as a free standing building and faces the owners home. I am a very private person and I often kept the blinds drawn however I never felt uncomfortable, imposed upon in any way, and had I had more time, and the weather was slightly warmer, I would have loved to have my coffee outside in the garden. In short, I would not hesitate to give the Garden House my highest recommendation and will stay again if possible on my next visit to Vancouver.
Response from the owner Thank you so much Roberta. Carole and I are very happy that your stay was comfortable and enjoyable and we look forward to having you stay with us again - soon!
“A Delightful Stay”
Date of Stay: October 2011 We had the joy of staying at this beautiful new rental for a week in the fall of 2011. It is located in a quiet, tree-lined residential area of Vancouver just a few blocks off of Main Street, a well-occupied shopping and dining resource. The newly constructed living unit sits a bit behind the owners home and has its own private access. Parking was not an issue. The unit is perfect for a couple or a single renter, with a full kitchen, bath, living room and separate bedroom. Washer and dryer, dishwasher and microwave are included, as is a broadband WiFi connection. A television is available, but we didn't use it during our stay, as there was too much to do out and about! The rental is very private. Encased in the sound of a nearby outdoor fountain, the unit is quiet and receptive. Heating was fully adequate. The queen-sized bed was quite comfortable. The large apple tree just outside its entrance offered delicious snacks. The owners, Gary and Carole, were wonderfully responsive hosts and eagerly shared information about their city and its events, to make our stay even more pleasant. We sincerely hope to stay there again.
