“Perfect place, perfect hosts!”

Reviewed 4 Sep 2014

Friends and I were on Jekyll Island for the Shrimp & Grits Festival. We stayed at "Aloft" and loved it. "Aloft" has a private entance so we could stay out late or leave early and not bother Pam and Mike, our gracious hosts. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a big smile from Pam and a lovely welcome basket. Staying with Pam and Mike was like staying with friends. The loft is a cozy and comfortable extension of their home. My 2 friends and I had plenty of room and the beds were great. Even the pullout was comfy. We were able to enjoy coffee before we left in the morning and our thoughtful hosts even provided bikes for wondering around the lovely island which has miiles and miles of beautiful bike trails. So looking forward to visiting again. Definitely recommend "Aloft". When you leave, you will know that you have made 2 wonderful new friends.

“A Real Gem!”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2014

First I'd like to point out our only criticism: the bed is rather squeaky, but we found even that to be charming and it was an ongoing inside joke for the duration of our stay. Other than that, my boyfriend and I both agree that the experience staying at "Aloft" was really so much more than either of us was anticipating. We both loved the space so much and were deeply touched by the hospitality! The gift basket and hand-written note were precious, and the wine was the perfect end to the night after a long drive down from Atlanta. We both loved that there were guest bikes we were able to use and the next morning we rode the bike paths all around the island (lush canopies, beautiful scenery, friendly faces everywhere, and even some historical landmarks!) The room was a great deal more spacious than it looks in the photos and matched our aesthetics seamlessly. The kitchenette was precious, the water pressure in the shower was splendid, and we loved that there was also a washer/dryer we were able to use as well! We're keeping this rental at the top of our list for any future trips to the island!

“THE IDEAL STAY”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2014

I have been staying at "aloft" for the past 4 winters. (January-March) and have enjoyed my stay thoroughly. Basically everything that i could think of was taken care of for my stay from a nice gift basket, complete kitchen setup, spotless environment, internet that worked properly, and very accomodating hosts Pam and Mike. Imagine a knock on the door from Mike delivering dinner prepared by chef Pam from time to time. It really does not get any better than this for me. yes i could stay at one of the local hotels; i find them to be polite but certainly not sincerely caring. Jekyll Island offers a wide host of things to do from just sitting up on the deck of "aloft" to beachcombing and everything else a resort island like this offers. This studio apartment is comfortable for a single guy like me and is great for a small family or a couple as well. Privacy is assured as it is a stairway walk up to "aloft". the property has beautiful trees and lush flowering plantings surround. I lucked out and just wanted to share how i feel about renting "aloft". Ted Hutchinson, Deer Isle, Maine

“A delightful place to stay!!!”

Reviewed 27 May 2013

So many words I can use to describe how aloft is a wonderful place. I just love the open space. I just felt so calm & relax. Just like a home away from home & you are not that far from good sites on the lsland that Michael & Pamela had recommend it. They are just great hosts. Me & my daughters had just a delightful time there & we didn't want to leave. Aloft is a place I am going to visit again!!!

“Delightful”

A very cool place. Eclectic and charming. Delightful surprises and the bikes gave us a perfect way to leave the car in the driveway. Mike and Pam were wonderful hosts and we will return whenever the opportunity allows!

“Perfect!”

Reviewed 12 Apr 2012

We stayed at "Aloft" for 3 nights and it was wonderful! It is quite spacious, had everything we needed, and was just perfect for us and our 6-year-old. We were even supplied with bikes for enjoying the island's amazing bike trails! The only disadvantage was that you have to lug your stuff up a flight of stairs (so it wouldn't be good for someone who is disabled). Stay at aloft - you won't regret it!!

“Above the Rest...”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2011

We had never been to Jekyll so I jumped on the Internet and found "aloft". It was everything advertised and more...the space is awesome, all our needs were met plus the use of 2 bicycles to tour the island. Mike and Pam were great hosts. Mike supplied us with best eating places and things to do while on the island. We are planning a return trip in October and so on and so forth. It is our new favorite place! Thank you again.

“stay at aloft”

We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. The decor was very nice and comfortable. Everything we needed was there. The owners couldn't have been more helpful, letting us know some of their favorite places to eat etc. The weather was perfect. In all we had a wonderful time.

“Peaceful and Inspiring”

Reviewed 27 Apr 2011

Aloft is a very special place- an oasis filled with literature and memorabilia one will never find in a hotel. We enjoyed reading, long bike rides (thanks for providing two bicycles), breakfast on the deck and all the beautiful sounds nature had to offer. Thanks to our gracious hosts!

“a perfect treetop winter escape”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2011

"aloft" has everything you could think of to be comfortable. if something special is desired pam and mike do what is possible to accomodate. my stay for the winter months was enjoyable and very relaxing. personally i enjoy bridge and kayaking, hiking and swimming. plenty of creative space, not boring, great setting with treetop views and a feeling of being in a tree house. jekyll island is beautiful, historic, and offers plenty to do. conveniently located not far from brunswick and st. simons island. an ideal winter getaway. i shall return next winter. ted hutchinson
