“Nice, comfortable accommodation”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2013

We were all pleased with 'Lindale Retreat'. However the three large steps up to the Bungalow caused a few problems for Mum as she is a wheelchair user and cannot walk far at all. The property itself is very nice and homely if a bit tired in places. I left a few recommendations for the owners which in our opinion would be an asset :- Larger TV, Wi-fi, Mirror in upstairs bathroom - to name but a few. All in all it was a very pleasant, enjoyable stay with really helpful neighbours too !

“Nice property shame about the detail”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2013

On paper a very nice property, certainly spotlessly clean and very well equipped in the kitchen. Situated in a very quiet cul de sac. The property is getting very tired looking and a lick of paint and some TLC would not go amiss especially as the summer season is about to start we stayed at end of June 2013. Here are some examples of our niggles, one drawer in the kitchen has the front about to fall off, another has the bottom sliding back thus leaving a gap and dummy door front falls off as soon as you touch it, we could not get the oven grill to work, the toaster stopped working whilst we were there. The sink in the upstairs shower room is tiny, no extraction in either shower room, no shaver sockets in either shower room liitle to no storage in the upstairs shower room, toilet roll holder was the top of the radiator, numerous of the double glazed windows have dropped leaving gaps all around with associated drafts not recommended in cold weather The front garden grass has not been mowed for several weeks. basically lots of little niggles which eventually mount up and detract from what could be a very nice property. Would suggest an inspection by the holiday cottage group we were very disappointed. This is the first holiday cottage which I have given a negative review

“Beautiful little house in a lovely location”

Reviewed 20 Apr 2013

The house is lovely - huge lounge and the kitchen is a nice size too. worth noting that the downstairs bedroom does have a sofa bed (as long as the owners are happy for it to be used) so this adds an extra double bed to the mix if required. Two showers and toilets also appreciated in a house with six people. Note, in terms of accessability, that there is all you need on the ground floor once in, but there are 4-5 stairs to get into the house and the corridors are narrow so not suitable for wheelchair users. House had everything you could want in the kitchen... generally really well equipped We were a young (20s and early 30s)group there for a climbing / fell running holiday and it's just close enough to the south lakes to be fine - you'd have a long drive for north lakes though. Overall a lovely house in a beautiful location - would definitely stay again!

“We enjoyed our stay with other family members.”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2012

The key safe location was difficult to find. At night on returning it was impossible to see the digits without a torch. There were no instructions regarding waste disposal. We had to ask a neighbour. There were no instructions for operating the central heating system. Blinds in the conservatory would make it more usable. Most of the time it was too hot or too cold. There was no obvious point of contact for problems. A wellcome pack of information is needed and would easily answer all of the above.

“Beautiful location, lovely house!”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2011

The house was just as described on the website and it was well situated for exploring the south lakes. However, we had to call for a plumber on arrival as the boiler did not work and we were told it needed to be re-pressurised. Instructions for doing this were supplied in a book, but we didn't find the book until the next day, and in any case we didn't feel we wanted to tinker with someone else's boiler! The second night of our three night stay all the sockets fused so we had no heating, lighting, cooker, dishwasher or TV. We couldn't even boil a kettle on the hob because the ignitor didn't work and there were no matches! Not good! We had to wait until the following morning before we could get help. Sorry these comments aren't too good! Maybe we were just unlucky, but according to the caretaker, these problems have occurred before. It didn't completely spoil our stay . . . but it was very cold! The company apologised when I reported the problems on our arrival home, but they said all they could do was pass my comments on. I have heard no more. A little disappointing.

“amazing, warmly, just like my home, very nice, loved it”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2011

We loved staying in the cottage. My kid had fun games, and even though we did not carried any toys with us he was very happy to find some new and play with them. Kitchen was brilliantly arranged with all the little things taken into consideration. Lounge was brilliant and the small tea place was very nice to have snacks, talks and garden views. Bedrooms were also very well eqipped with all the quilts and other things. The house on whole was very warm and easily accessible, brilliant views outside. We loved it...Would definately recommend it to all my friends visiting and searching holiday accomodation in or near lake district.

“Excellent, better than home form home!”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2011

The cottage was superbly equipped in all areas. The kitchen cupboards were well stocked with all manner of cooking ingredients and equpment. The garage contained garden furniture. The living room was extremely comfortable, this is important especially if the weather is not very good. The only negative comment my teenage son had to make is about the lack if internet access.

“Interesting holiday”

Quite location and a short ride to very good local shops. Close to Windermere and other attractions.
