“lovely place”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2013

this is a perfect place for someone who values peace and quiet and would like to have a rest from all the city noises. the owners are absolutely delightful, the rooms are beautiful and well equipped.

“A haven of peace and quiet.”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2013

This is the fifth year we have spent in the apartments at the Old School in Dalavich to pursue our enjoyment of fishing and hill walking (and to chill). We are always made very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The apartments are bright, airy and comfortable. The village of Dalavich is on the shores of Loch awe, at the end of a single track road which provides some of the most beautiful views going. It is a great base for fishing, walking and cycling and is within easy access of the rest of argyll. We have had close encounters with deer and red squirrels, not to mention the odd sheep. This year it was lovely to hear the cuckoo when we were out walking and fishing at Loch a' Mhinn, a small loch in the hills near Kilmelford. In the village itself there is a café/shop and a Community Centre which runs a very friendly pub. During the holiday season, meals are available 4 nights a week, which we can highly recommend. There is also a grocer shop in Taynuilt where the staff are very friendly and helpful (they also stock some very nice whiskies :)) The big draw for us is the gentle pace and peace and quiet of Dalavich and the friendships we have made over the years. It is a welcome change from the usual hustle and bustle of 'normal' life. The batteries are most definitely recharged.
