Very Good

This unit has an issue with Lower level bedrooms smell like sewer gas. The unit is very outdated and smells like people smoked this unit. Very poor maintenance. Unit has very noisy bathroom exhaust fans, first floor bedroom baseboard heater inoperable, kitchen faucet leaks, cabinets in kitchen falling apart etc. For the price of rental the unit should be better taken care of.

First off, location! Easy walk to the village with access to the gondola up to Canyon Lodge. Across the street from Mammoth Brewery is also a plus! In terms of the condo, 4 available queen beds with a 5th that is a sofa pull out- we also stumbled upon a twin roll-away/cot stored in a closet in one of the bedrooms. Overall the unit can use some TLC, it's a bit old. Two bedrooms are located downstairs, while the living room, dining room and third bedroom are upstairs. This layout, together with thin walls, did not provide a good sleeping environment. The walls and floors creaked while all activities, walking and conversing upstairs, were heard downstairs. The stair case is rather steep, which we found wasn't too kid-friendly (2 and 4 yrs). Parking- we had 10 people staying in the condo and were given 2 parking spots. We were told there is an overflow camper lot down the road that would cost us $15 per vehicle per night. Fortunately, VDI wasn't 100% full, so we were allowed to obtain 2 more spots within the complex, that we're a short walk to the unit. Overall, if you are a group of friends, looking for an "average" condo with a great location, this is your spot! I'd stray if you are a family with little ones that need to get sleep, perhaps look elsewhere.

Perfect location with immediate access to ride to the bike park trails and to walk to the village! With the 2 levels, people can spread out and allow some quiet place for kids or early to bed folks downstairs. The pool and hot tub area is really nice and good for kids. The complex itself looks nice and recently updated. I like that VDI is a small complex. Reason is with groups renting multiple units, you'll all be close together. Also it didn't feel crowded and parking was always available. For improvements, I suggest changing layout of upstairs. There's so much furniture, it's tough to move about or find floor space to sit or stretch out. Just removing the entertainment center would really help - switch the sofa to that wall, and hang the flatscreen above the fireplace. The bathrooms are dated and dark but fully functional. There is some noise in the downstairs bedrooms from the village garage and utility area across the street and some traffic noise but not a problem with the windows closed. There was too much firewood on the balcony patio making it unusable for outdoor sitting. Overall great place with all you need in amenities and the best location adjacent to the village!! I would definitely stay in this unit again.

We (group of six) stopped at Val d'Isere before going to Yosemite and we would definitely recommend this rental. The kitchen was very well equipped, the rooms were clean and nicely furnished and we enjoyed relaxing in the (whirl)pools after our trips. The location is just great! There are many lakes in close distance and good restaurants, events, etc. in the "city centre". This is a perfect place to stay if you love nature... Not only in winter ;)

We enjoyed our stay at this very basic condo. If you a looking for high level furnishing this is not the place you want to stay but for us, it was perfect. The spa worked our very well every afternoon after our mountain biking up and down the trails. The location was perfect, it is what we enjoyed most about this condo.

Check-in was so easy! The hotel is located near to everything which made it so convenient for us. We could just walk across the street to all kinds of shops and restaurants, and also to take a bus to Mammoth Mountain where we bought our tickets to get on another bus to Devils Postpile. It was a short drive from the hotel to Mono Lake, June Lake, Lake Mary and etc...The 3-bedroom 2-bath unit was big and comfy with plenty of towels, extra pillows and blankets. The only negative thing about it was it's very old. My family had a great time staying there. I'd definitely come back again!

“Night Manager Was Horrible!”

We stayed for 2 nights with 8 people and were told that we could have two spots and to just let them know if we needed more passes. As it turned out we had to bring an extra car but didn't arrive until 1:30 am from OC... The next day we found a tow sticker with a # to call so we called. The desk clerk proceeded to yell at my boyfriend about how we blatantly tried to pull one over on them by parking with out a sticker and who did we think we were doing that. When we calmly said we didn't appreciate his attitude and that all we wanted was a place to park. He proceeded to mock us by saying "well you could have parked at the RV park but haha they're closed now so I guess you're out of luck!" I took the phone and explained to him that we have MVP passes and come up all the time and usually stay at Mammoth Estates but were trying a new place and we really wanted to have a good experience" he scoffed and said well have fun at Mammoth Estates then and he hung up on me! To top it off Mammoth Estates allowed me to park my car overnight even though we weren't staying there. Also the showers only allow use by one person for every hour and the heater was banging away all night... Overall we had an awful stay with this place.
