“Sunset Hill”

Reviewed 5 Dec 2008

The apartment itself is basic, but nice for CR standards. Mold grows on the walls and when I first got there was all over the couch. Two Spider-Scorpions live behind the sink in the bathroom. Dishes and Utensils are in good condition. Cable Internet has average 1MB speeds to US sites (if you upgrade from basic - its 128k). It has Premium Cable TV. The view is beautiful and its a 5 minute walk down hill to the best spot on the beach in Tamarindo. Howler monkey's live in the trees and come by about once a week. Security is an issue - one of the neighbors apts had been completely emptied in the last year. The road up the hill was in rough condition - you NEED a Jeep 4x4 or just walk.

Response from the manager The condo was recently purchased and the new owner has repainted, redecorated, and completed cleaned the unit. He's also updated the kitchen counter. The unit is now on a regular fumigation schedule. The condo is in excellent condition. The road is in a constant state of flux. The road can be pretty rough during the rainy season but is usually in good shape from about January through May. It's really up to the local municipality - and their grading schedule. But generally the road is drivable in any kind of vehicle throughout the year. Theft is a problem throughout Central America, not just in Costa Rica. It's important while visiting here that you be more aware of your belongings and surroundings and that you use the safes provided in the units. We've lived and worked in Tamarindo for 10 years and have never heard of any house or condo being completed emptied. Certainly in this particular complex it has never happened.
