“Comfortable and Cozy Cabin”
This condo was comfortable and cozy. It was clean and well-maintained. A few updates such as a flat screen t.v. and perhaps some essentials in the kitchen such as a big stock pot, some wine glasses, and a baking sheet would go a long way. The mattress on the pull out couch was a bit worn (you could feel the springs) and would not be comfortable for two people.
Response from the manager Thanks for the response! The owner just installed a new sleeper sofa and we've completely updated the kitchen inventory with new pots and pans and plenty of utensils, plates and cups. The condo also now has flat screen TVs in every room!
“Convenient yes, but uncomfortable and loud”
The mattresses were terrible - like sleeping on a hard floor. The pillows were worse. The carpet was filthy! At night (after 10pm) there were yelling drunks cursing and blinding in the square which has acoustics impossible to ignore. We got no sleep.
Response from the manager As of 12/2016 this property has received some updates. The owner has replaced some of the pillows and updated the mattress toppers to plush foam to keep his guests more comfortable. We also recently updated the living room carpet to engineered vinyl flooring. The Dakota Lodge building IS in the heart of River Run Village. This is a great option for people that like to be close to all of the activities, dining and skiing. With that being said there is a decent amount of hustle and bustle from many visitors taking advantage of those great amenities nearby, so it can be a bit on the loud side sometimes. Quiet hours in the resort are strictly enforced (if you report noise) by the building managers between 10pm and 8am. We hope your next stay is a better one!
“Condo needs attention”
There were not many 2 bedroom condos with 3 beds (to accommodate 4 adults - 1 couple & 2 singles) available for the 10 nights we were looking for from the 1st of March until the 10th of March 2013, so we were grateful to have found this condo right in River Run village conveniently located to the gondola. The condo however is very run down and needs attention. We have rented in Keystone many times before, as we live in Denver and love skiing and the mountains, however this has to be the most run down place in River Run that we have stayed in over the years. This is a little disappointing especially as we were entertaining my brother and his friend from Europe, who were very exited to experience skiing in Colorado. We paid a relatively high price in the hope for a good standard of accommodation (we actually paid $87 per night less for a condo at "Springs" over the Christmas period). The condo was clean but presents itself poorly with its stained carpets, damaged flooring on the balcony and the holes in the pillows of the couch. A television was missing in the second bedroom although we had been advised for a TV to be in every room. I would recommend a flat screen TV above the electric fireplace to create more space in the condo, as the television cabinet takes up quite some space that can be better used. The ski locker belonging to the condo is broken, which means it can not be locked and ski / snowboard gear can not be stored and needs to be taken up to the condo (I noticed in previous comments on the condo, for this to have been the case for quite a while now). The 2 single beds in the second bedroom are a little short, which made it a little uncomfortable for 2 adult men to sleep in these for 10 nights. A minor detail but more cups in the kitchen would definitely help to not have to run the dishwasher every day when you are staying with 4 people. The facilities in Dakota are good and we used the hot tubs, swimming pool and sauna most of the nights.
“Nice place to stay, center if the action”
Check in was easy, even at 2 am. Sky Run did a great job. Keystone is definitely a great place to bring the family. There are plenty of things to do and great restaurants and shops, especially in River Run. The accommodations were good with one exception, the beds were terribly firm in this unit-Dakota 8493. So much that by the end of a week, we were more sore from the bed than winter sports. Otherwise, it was a great vacation. I highly recommend Keystone and Sky Run.
Response from the manager Sorry the firm beds were not to your liking. This owner has recently made a few updates to the property, including new plush foam mattress toppers for all the beds.
Place was a good location to get to the lifts. We did have a few setbacks, such as our ski locker not working/locking, so had to lug up gear for myself, my wife and our two kids. Also we were completely locked out the first night we were there, keys stopped working (card key). They did come to let us in, but with the ski lock not working, getting locked out in the same day, it was a tad rough.
“Small But Clean”
Our unit was small but it was very clean. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils except for a 9 x 13 baking dish, which I needed. That is a staple in my cabinet at home and I use that size pan nearly daily. Our mattresses were ok but the pillows were horrible. I would expect much better. They are probably the worst pillows Ive had in any of our travels.
Response from the manager As of 12/2016 the bedding has been updated with new mattress toppers and some new pillows. We've also recently updated the kitchen inventory to include a few sizes of baking dishes.
Great location. Lots of room to spread out and move about. One negative was there was not enough bedding, half the pillows did not have pillow cases.
The Dakota Lodge was a wonderful place to stay. It was very clean and well appointed. The furnishings were comfortable and attractive. The location was very convenient. The Keystone Village and the gondola were a very short walk. And covered parking in the basement was great.
Skyrun Vacation Rentals were great to work with, rent from. Thank you very much!
“6 months later?”
Nice unit, nice building, its location to everything is great. The one donwside is the noise in the parking lot, late at night and early in the morning. One night, a bus arrived late and sat outside our window for what seemed forever, running. Just about everynight it snowed, so first thing (5am) in the morning, the snow plows were out. But its not just the sound of the snow plows, its the backing up signal noise(beeping) that is very bothering. Other than that, great place to stay and love SkyRun! Next year we plan to rent on the mountain side.
