“Miigwetch”

Reviewed 13 Feb 2012

Aanii boozhou, I rented this cottage last July, 2012 and it was great! Miigwetch for letting me stay in Keeshigonong for a bit and looking forward to staying for a bit again this year. Again, miigwetch,

“Very quiet.”

Reviewed 6 Nov 2011

Cottage description is correct about everything, so pay attention to every detail. If I would recomend it to a freind I would add that place is very quiet but for a food supplies it is better to go to Wiarton (30 km) because a convenience store a few kilometers away has very limited selection of items. It is not the owner's fault just do not count on this store.

“fantastic”

This cottage is beautiful, peaceful, tranquil, beautiful, friendly, breathtaking

“Privacy Plus!”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2009

If you want privacy like we do then this is the ideal cottage. The cottage was very attractive and comfortable. We enjoyed the swimming even though it was a little tricky thanks to the slippery clay stones. My only concern was the composting toilet which tended to attract alot of flies....

“Sanctuary of Solace”

Reviewed 5 Feb 2009

The description of this 'off the grid cottage' sounded too good to be true ... yet proved to be better than I had hoped! Investigating the alvar -- a rare eastern prairie with its own unique plants and flowers; waking to the sunrise with a cup of coffee enjoyed by the edge of the water; lounging in the hammock; early morning canoe trips; observing the flight pattern of butterflies and hummingbirds; outdoor firepit and indoor woodstove etc. etc. all combined to create a one-of-a-kind vacation. For a first-time renter, the experience was made very enjoyable by everyone I dealt with. Don't let the bag shower throw you off!! If you're searching for solitude and REAL privacy, I'd recommend Keeshigonong as "a sanctuary where time stands still, hummingbirds hover, healing takes place and metamorphosis begins."

“The Quietest Place You'll ever Stay”

Reviewed 5 Feb 2009

A great place to retreat from the world. It is the most quiet spot I've been to apart from canoe trips to Algonquin Park. You have to be willing to use an outhouse and compost toilet and deal without a shower. It is far better than a camping trip. My kids enjoyed using the shower bag outside attached to the porch. Watching the hummingbirds throughout the day is a highlight. We also enjoyed using the puzzles upstairs in the loft. The only downside was not being able to bike on the property because it is too rocky. You must be vigilant of the poison ivy around the cottage and the driveway. We did many day trips which included Lions Head Beach, Red Bay, Cabot Head Lighthouse and Cyprus Lake National Park.

Response from the manager Thank you for bringing the poison Ivy to our attention we have taken steps to ensure there is no poison ivy around the cottage or on the driveway.
