“This was a wonderful & relaxing place to stay.”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2012

We stayed here for a week and really enjoyed the house. My husband & 2 sons are all over 6 ft. Quite often we have a difficult time finding bedrooms that will accommodate that many tall people. My sister & her 2 yr old also stayed with us. There was plenty of room for all 7 of us. The only thing we didn't like was the water situation. We couldn't drink the tap water & the septic tank limited us to 2 showers per hr. No more that a combined total of 8 showers or loads of wash per day were allowed. The house is close to town and both provincial parks. We also used the kayaks at the property and went kayaking a few times. We would go there again

“The Perfect Break from a Busy Life”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2012

We are a family of six and we checked in during off-season for an entire week. If any of you truly want a break from the city life, and want to vacation somewhere beautiful and quiet, this is the place to go. The house is as perfect and real as it is in the photographs: spacious and comfortable with an amazing view of the water! My children all had a bed to themselves. The house offered a lot of entertainment, in and out: there are a few game boards and there's the satellite television, there's also a fire pit outside (and a BBQ grill on the deck), and then there's the two kayaks, perfect for the lake! We spent half our days there. Tobermory, though, is a gorgeous town and needs to be explored. You must check out the Bruce Peninsula national park, the water is just breath-taking: crystal clear and a beautiful aqua colour. There are many hiking tours in the area, tourist shops, restaurants, and cruises; there's a handy local grocery store that is stocked in a wide variety of food items incase you're short on something! My kids really loved the soft-served ice cream there. We have two minor concerns, and it relates to the cottage's cleanliness. The water tank had not been used for a while, made apparent by the yellow tinge in the water (which had lasted for a day until it began running clear). Also, while stocking our own food in the kitchen, an old piece of meat was left behind in the freezer and smelt like it was rotting... but honestly speaking, these were minor discomforts in the face of a relaxing and amazing trip :)

“Fun for all!”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2010

We were two families, which consisted of 4 adults and 4 children under the age of 4. We found this cottage wonderful because of the fact that we each had our own floor and didn't disturb each other during the night. We blocked off the stairs to the balcony and the kids came and went as they pleased out the sliding doors and had a great time. This cottage is about 5 minutes from the heart of Tobermory and we spent a lot of time there. The cottage was very clean, had everything we needed and we had a great time and even the neighbours were nice. Our only complaints were that the kids got lots of splinters on their feet from the balcony and it was hot for the family on the top floor and cold for the family in the basement. The fireplace didn't work, which they told us about before hand but it would've been nice to use. Overall, we loved it.

Response from the manager We are pleased to announce that the propane fireplace will be fully functional and available for use by our guests, effective May 1st, 2014. Owner of My Friend's Place - Cottage #479.

“The most peaceful, serene place away from home.”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2010

This cottage was more than enough for me (23 yrs old), my boyfriend, my parents and my sister (27 yrs old) and her boyfriend. We each had our own level to sleep on, yet spent most of our time in the front yard playing games or in the back making a fire. The neighbors were so nice, as we found out they were from the same hometown as us. We went on their aTV and had lots of laughs by the fire. I am definitely going back to Tobermory this summer, just to go back on the trails and see the magnificently blue water that i didn't even know existing in Canada. Thank you RentCottage for an amazing vacation.

“beautiful white christmas”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2010

We stayed with our two large dogs for the Christmas/New Years period and enjoyed the house and the town immensely. Tobermory is quaint and peaceful with so many friendly people and a gorgeous waterfront. The cottage was clean and spacious inside with wide open spaces for the dogs to run outside, we had everything we needed except for a comfortable place to sleep. My only complaint is that in this large cottage full of bedrooms there was not one comfortable bed. We tried a different bed every night but they were all extremely hard and after the first week we even tried sleeping on the couch. Looking for a restful getaway we were disappointed by this but everything else about the cottage was well above our expectations, especially the full kitchen. We enjoyed a peaceful romantic Christmas and would love to return to Tobermory but would most likely choose a different cottage.

“We had an enjoyable family Thanksgiving in Tobermory”

The cottage was a great layout for our family. We were able to space ourselves out for sleeping as we had little ones with us, We very much enjoyed our stay,

“Quiet Stay”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2009

We enjoyed the cottage, were disappointed that the fireplace didnt work. The heating was ok, but at times it was either freezing or too hot, depending on when the heat kicked in. Location is not far from Tobermory, very close to neighbors so limited privacy. Proximity to the water was accurate but failed to mention the stony paths. This place is more suited to families with older children or adults, not really ideal for younger children due to limited activities.

Response from the manager We are pleased to announce that the propane fireplace will be fully functional and available for use by our guests, effective May 1st, 2014. Owner of My Friend's Place - Cottage #479.

“Relaxing”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2009

We really enjoyed the scenery and the proximity of the house to Tobermory, Cyprus Lake and Singing sands. The main floor and upper bedroom were very nice and clean and the kitchen was well equipped. The deck was spacious and we enjoyed a few BBQ's. Unfortunately we were disappointed that the house was advertised to sleep 8 as the bedrooms and living space in the basement wasn't favorable, the rooms were dark and there was a strong damp musty smell in the air that was quite unpleasant. The de-humidifier didn't seem to make a difference. I wouldn't rent this house again on this basis.

Response from the manager To address the damp, musty smell issue in the basement, we will be replacing all of the old carpeting with new ceramic tile and a fresh coat of paint on all the baseboards, prior to May 1st, 2014. Owner of My Friend's Place - Cottage #479.

“A beautiful stay!”

Reviewed 24 Jul 2009

The home was lovely and well-kept. It was comfortably spaced out and beautifully decorated. We loved the spaciousness of it and the breezes when you opened the window. If I could change one thing about it, though, I would say the upstairs beds were very uncomfortable. I slept on the couch all 7 nights because of this. Overall, a lovely experience.

“Calm Christmas at Lake Huron”

Reviewed 8 Feb 2009

We spent the week over Christmas in the cottage, enjoying the calmness and the great view. The kitchen was big enough to have 4 people and a baby preparing the big Christmas feast. The only negative thing was that the gas fireplace did not work.

Response from the manager We are pleased to announce that the propane fireplace will be fully functional and available for use by our guests, effective May 1st, 2014. Owner of My Friend's Place - Cottage #479.
