“Private Paradise!”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2016

Hi, we visited this cottage for 1 week June 18-25 2016. It was such a pleasant surprise driving down the little road leading up to the front of it. The cottage inside was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. The outside was rustic charm! Such views! So many choices of were to sit and enjoy. 2 beautiful decks and a gorgeous flat rock waterfront, where we sat often. We brought my mom who is a young 78. We had perfect weather the entire week. We did a few trips, Flowerpot Island tour, the Grotto, and drove to the lighthouse on Cabot Head, which were all amazing. If you drive to the Cabot Head lighthouse, it quite a jaunt along the Georgian Bay coast with breathtaking views and is worth it. We met the most amazing 95 Year old native man named Wilmur. A carver of wood and author of his own book. Wow, impressive. After a few hours away from the cottage we could hardly wait to return! Barbecues, happy hours, campfires with smores, and just plain relaxing and taking it all in. This area surprised me of its beauty. Kayaking on Lake Huron was heaven on a calm day. Crystal clear clean water. The only thing I could say for feedback was that the cd player did not work and the water was discolored from minerals but fine for showering etc...We were prepared with tons of bottled water because we knew from previous reviews. The showerhead was new and clean. Oh, We gained 5 lbs each because of that fantastic bakery at the corner of Warner Road. Get the butter tarts, lol.... By far one of our best vaycays ever! Thank you Jim and Julie for sharing your piece of paradise and to rentcottage.com for your great service. We hope to return again! Rob and Lynn and mama Carol

“it was ok...”

we just came back from this cottage. nice water front, clean water, quiet space. Weather was nice and enjoyed staying at the deck and kayake. i am not sure if we had high expectation but we didn't find it too clean. i don't think blankets and pillow cases were washed and replaced to new guests. you can discover dusts on furtnitures and lamps. you will find plates, cups, pots, pans not clean. you will see few cockroachs here and there as well. for me worst part was the water. Water had too much iron and you can see kitchen sink, bathroom tub, vanity all stained in yellow to brown from water. shower head is all rusted and black. you will find water is yellowish. weather you take shower or wash your cloths you will smell strong metal on all of them. we had to purchase large water containers to wash cloths and take shower as well as cooking. i think owner need to install filter to get better water quality just like other cottages. I was there to spend relaxing week with my cancer survivor bf and we were very careful with eating purchased only organic food and this cottage was definatly not our favorite.

Response from the manager Thank you for your review. We always encourage renters to contact us directly while they are at the cottage so that we can make every effort to improve their stay. This cottage changed ownership in 2014 and has been totally renovated and improvements made. The water now has a filtering system on it that removes the iron. The shower head was replaced during renovations and there has been a change in cleaning staff. The outdoor living space has been totally renovated with new decks, walkways to the water and landscaping. The cockroaches that are referred to in this review are actually wood roaches. These insects are common in this area and survive by consuming rotting wood. A large number of cottage owners spray for these insects so it is not unusual to find the occasional dead one lying around. They can be transported inside the cottage on clothing or damp towels left lying on the ground outside so the best prevention is to avoid this. Sunset and Breezes continues to be a popular cottage with many people that return yearly.

“A new home for a week”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2012

My fiance and I are expecting a baby at the end of September and with this in mind we decided to take a nice vacation while we still had time to ourselves, before life gets crazy. We wanted something inexpensive and enjoyable. We looked at heading to sunshine locations, but we aren't the lazy around for a week on the beach type. We found this cottage for $600/ week just before the busy season. We stayed June 23rd-30th. We chose this based on the price, and the fact that the area wouldn't be busy yet. We were very excited after looking at the photos and reviews online. We liked the fact that there would be a lot to see/do in the area, without spending a lot of extra money to do it or travelling long distances. When we got to the cottage it was exactly as shown. Clean, comfortable, plenty of space, beautiful scenery, had all the little things you could want or need. The bed/furniture were comfortable and well maintained. Lots of chairs/seating outside. The second deck and shoreline were great for sitting along in the morning sun, for tanning through the middle of the day, in the evening colour, or for a fire. Mosquitoes got bad, but to be expected at that time of the season. We really enjoyed that there was a wood fireplace in the cottage. Good for just sitting around and reading at night, and for the cooler nights we had. Just wish we had found the manual or seen the plug for the fireplace fan before our last night there. Lol The only thing that took some getting use to was the water. Terribly high iron content. Could always smell it in your hair and on your skin. Make sure you stock up on bottled water. So much to do in the area. birdwatching (tons of species), boat cruises, restaurants/shops, cabots head, lions head, flowerpot island, singing sands, Cyprus Lake National Park (Grotto), Fathom Five National Park, Devil's Monument. We did/visited all of these and loved everything.

“Relaxing”

Reviewed 14 Aug 2011

We had a great time at sunset #271. Me, My girlfriend and my sister and brother in law have rented for a week or multiple weeks in the tobermory are through this service for several years. Somewhere new each time. I particularly love waterfront, The only thing it was missing for the other travelers in my group was a hot tub. Otherwise, for four adults it was perfect. A nice distance for a bike ride to town, or the bakery at the end of the road.

“Wonderful as always”

Please thank the owner of the cottage for keeping it in such good shape and caring about the people who rent it. It is a tribute to him. And thanks to him always adjusting the cost for a month's stay in late august and September. It is very much appreciated and will certainly keep me coming back. I cannot say enough positive about my stay each year, It is my restoration. Perhaps some newer deck chairs and bedroom lamps?

“Great Cottage on the water”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2010

Sunset and Breezes was very comfortable. Great location, only 5 minutes from Tobermory and great bakery at the end of the road. Right on the water, looks just like the photos.

“Peace & Quiet”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2010

My wife and I booked this cottage last minute on a Thursday for Sunday check in, which we thought was fantastic. When we arrived and entered the cottage, it was exactly the way it looked in the photos. This cottage was excellent value. We read a previous review about how it was perfect for their older dog and our older dog loved it as well, being able to wade in the water easily. Everything in the cottage worked and it was very well kept. We will be looking at booking with this firm again in the future. This cottage was a deal!

“Aptly named”

Reviewed 6 Nov 2009

Sunset and Breezes is a great name for this cottage. While I'm not so sure about the breezes, we witnessed and took many photos of some amazing sunsets. Everything worked as it should, and everything was great. Had a terrific holiday. It flew by too fast though :) I would have to think long and hard to find fault with this cottage, but if there was anything at all it would have to be that the deck was a little too narrow for the patio table that was on it, and with no railing, it created the danger of slipping a chair leg off the edge, and having a tumble. Highly recommended for a great stay.

“Beautiful area”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2009

The cottage is situated in the perfect area. It is right on the beach and a very close drive into Tobermory. My family and I liked that we could hear the sound of the water all day and sit out on the huge deck to watch the sunsets. The cottage is small but well equipped and has everything you need for a weeks stay. I think the decor could do with an update and it could do with a good thorough cleaning but besides that we were very happy and would return again.

“Wonderful time”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2009

My family enjoy the whole vacation in the cottage. It's so quiet and comfortable. Just reminding, buy the water for drinking or cooking will be better.
